I'm not crazy about how blocky the torso is or how chunky the arms are, and I do feel like the hexagonal shape for the PPC arm should be a lot more pronounced. Still, I like it overall. The legs are absolutely perfect. And the more I look at it, the more it looks like the art from the original diagram:

That right arm bugs me still though.

It looks fantastic! Very sexy.

Here's a question I've always had about the Thor, are those boxy things missile launchers on the legs, or something else?

LOL, you get what you deserve, guys. :( After tons of moaning about how Timberwolf is "not the same", you get these stupid 80-es goofy designs being repeated litteraly. Ammount of geometry is fascinating.

I didn't buy the Summoner because of this:

Hardpoints:
LA: 1B
LT: 1M
RA: 1E

Are you serious, PGI? If at least you said "Minimum Hardpoints"...

just decorative basically. they aren't missiles or anything by the record sheets, so we don't know what they were supposed to be.

TRO art was drawn before the write up. Apparently the TRO art reflects the 'MK1' designs. This had the Summoner with a SRM 6 in the CT and they got distributed on the thighs.

This is also why the Mad Dog and Timber Wolf both have LRM boxes of 15, not 20.

Here's the variants:

A: Gauss (LA), SRM6 (LT), LPL (RA)
B: LRM20 + SRM4 (LA), NARC + AMS (LT), LRM20 + SRM4 (LA)
C: UAC-20 (LA), Streak-6 (LT), ERLL + ERSL (RA)
D: ERLL+ERML (LA), MG+AMS (LT), MG+AMS + Targeting computer (RT), ERLL+ERML (RA)

I see they aren't going to release the D variant because it's very good and we can't have fun!

Fun Fact: The 350XL on a 70 ton mech in MWO's speed chart would give the Summoner 88kph (After speed tweak) and the Alt C configuration packs a UAC20. While it dosnt have many hardpoints, trying to avoid a 88kph jumping jagerbomb is still fairly scary.

EDIT: Speed values were wrong, why didnt any of you scrubs point this out to me?!?! :(

Looks decent, Aidan Pryde is proud, although Aidan is not proud of how Timber Wolf turned out.

Please rework the Timber Wolf design. If other clan mechs have different smooth look, Timber Wolf looks like it was made on a junkyard from old parts of Inner Sphere mechs.

This!^
(because it's true)

there were no "Mk1 designs'.. the people who worked at FASA have confirmed that. the artwork and design teams just were not working together so you wound up with stats and art that didn't match exactly.

there have been a lot of fan designs where people assumed the art was supposed to be for some previous "pre-nerf' clan mechs and tried to design what they though those would be, but those are all total fan creations, not based on anything of FASA's.

With about 14 shots and DOT damage. Or you could drop the other weapons and go more ammo.

They are something in the Hellbringer, which uses the same legs as the Summoner.

They said they will nerf the Clan weapons: so 3 hardpoints are bad.

Besides, it's not exactly balanced to have some Clan mechs or variants with 3 hardpoints and others with 11.

Never was a big fan of the Summoner but it turned out well. I'm interested to see what we can do with omni pods to remedy its limited hard points.

I think their reasoning is this from the omnimech construction thread:

Spoiler
The idea is that even though the Prime has 3 hardpoints, they are more like sections of the mech you can swap out, IE prime would be "1E(RA) 1B(LA) 1M(LT)" and a Alt C has (In theory, I dont recall what side it had the UAC20 on to be honest) "1B(RA) 2E(LA) 1M(LT)" and the omnipod system would let you exchange the primes 1E(RA) for the Alt-C's 1B(RA) allowing for a "1B(RA) 1B(LA) 1M(LT)" build, or do the opposite and take the energy points for a "1E(RA) 2E(LA) 1M(LT)".

Think I hurt my brain.

Triangular Summoner is triangular!
Posted Image

I think this is the first clanmech design that I don't like too much...
Everything else is fine but that triangular upper part bothers me. :(

Yup, that sounds like most TRO designs, lol. Thank you.

Wow the lack of hardpoints...with clan Nerf this thing is going to get destroyed I think. The Mech looks good

You guys REALLY need to release info on clan mechs weapons etc.

LoL, agreed only one Energy, Ballistic & Missile, I think I'll take my Cataphract over this one, even with Clan weapon advantages.

Otherwise, I don't mind the look, but the Thor and Loki were never my kind of mech.

Why do you need a Griffin cockpit if this mech is going to be used to poptart? The glass is all above you so it serves no purpose. All I am asking is they cover the top panes with metal to make it more Thunderbolt like.

You should feel safe in a seventy ton mech. Excessive glass works against this.

but....but...its Future Glass! indestructible!

I feel the same somewhat, but it is mostly a copy of the timberwolf arm, as it should have been, minus the hexagon.
