Yup, the guy(s)/gal(s) that protected your Right Flank, to prevent your sorry lame ass from getting over run, suck, because they died in defense of the Team. OK then.

Let me write your game name down just in case...

This thread has some of the vilest slander I have heard in a while. Never have i faced such bigotry against the living impared before.

Sir I say to you i was a Dead Man before the match, and I assure you my advice is ALWAYS good except when it isn't. Being Dead Man in no way affects my skill level, I would simply ask you to think before you continue to slander a large and contributing portion of the community.

I'm sorry but why is this about you?
If you're honestly helpful my post is not intended for you.

My sorry ass? Why because I stuck with the group and am still alive? I score pretty well game to game and am a benefit to my team... Unlike the guy who died in 2 minutes because they expected the team to follow them.

Honestly, I apologize for not being clearer.
9 times out of 10 the dead guy talking is bitter because they died and is not helping by complaining about how the team failed them.

Totally wrong and to be expected coming from the forum.
Due to elo I doubt I'd see you guys anyway.

Well there you go. You state that despite death a players sucks, apparently regardless of circumstance, and then you use the ELO card?

Classy dude. Real classy. You still make the "List", just in case what you think your ELO is, ain't all that. ;)

LOL! And I didn't really have a list, until of course, his last ELO e-peen stroking rant.

Now I got me a "List". :D

Wow, let's see here.

No sense of humor: check, easily offended: check, baselessly arrogant: Check.

The forumite trifecta, gentlemen we have this threads winner.

what was there to take offence to? i made no slanderous remarks, didn't call you out on anything, just made a gag about hit lists... which no one actually ever bothers to do anything about in game anyway. How was that offensive?

I don't always do it, but once I'm out I usually cycle through mechs and try to tell my team what is going on from the macro view.

"Player X is fighting an ECM Raven at F6, he could use help"

"There's an LRM boat in F5. I saw it briefly pop up on Player Z's HUD".

But I agree with you on the whiny ghost players. The ones that dun fscked up, but keep blaming the team for their 30 seconds of brief life.

Sorry Merrick, wasn't you.

Been playing this for a while now and have always done whats best for the team.
Considering how many times I've had to see the dead guy whining at the end of the match, I felt like I had the right to whine myself.
Some didn't like what I said.

i agree that if you have nothing helpful (or at least humorous) to say then just be quite or rage in the privacy of your ts channel, as someone who often dies early, i try and help where i can... sometimes things fall apart faster then i can type but i try. What did most of our moms tell us as kids? "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" (along with "if you keep touching that it will fall off"...)

What's the big deal about the dead guy trying to help out. I prefer the dead people to stick around and kind of be a "commander" since they can easily switch player views and have a very good idea about what is going on. If you don't like the teamwork go back to cod and run around aimlessly.

The dead can be very useful.... Here's my example of what happened just the other Sunday night......

I was puggin' on Sunday night and filling the waiting time by playing a little Tribez and Castlez. Well, anyways I pop back into my match and find that my CN9-AL was missing it's head in less than 30 seconds from the start of the match. Well I asked why I was killed and the player said oh I thought you were AFK. I realized he's on the other team so no big deal, I simply said "Well now you get to listen to my musings" From this point I started flipping between each of our Team members and in open chat giving commands. No kidding, it worked.

First commands were pure observations. X Enemies located in XX and so on until I accounted for all 12 of their players. At this point I started helping ID all primary targets. G is primary, F is next he's a crippled stalker, C is cored, it's currently 3 - 4 , it's now 4 - 4, J is a 3 ac 5 jager he's a primary target, it's now 5 -4, K is a larger laser stalker watch him, it's 6 - 5, and then the tide turned completely and it went fast. 7 - 5, 8 - 5 and all I was doing was going down the alpha bet. Picked one guy out in front who was pressing R.

End of the match I apologized to my team for being AFK, and the other team commented that's how a commander should run a battle. So honestly us being down 1 turned out just fine because I prioritized our targets for us.

I imagine it was demoralizing when I called out a target and describe the mech and it's load out, because the pilot knew they were next.

I felt like I contributed, even without a Mech!

Dear Dead Mechwarrior,

You died in the first minute of the match. It's embarassing and it happens to us all once in a while. Like sharting or backing into a fire hydrant.

Thank you for talking! Talk, talk, talkie, talkie. Blah, blah blah. I'm so glad the dead master strategist is there to help me with my game. It doesn't throw me off at all. You know that a win will net you more XP and CBills, and you want to make sure I'm doing my best, like a crazed parent at a little league game.

Sincerely,
The Living

Do you honestly not see the potential advantages of having a floating eye that can see through the cockpits of every living player on your team and has the freedom to type freely because they are not piloting or in combat?

Sure there is a potential for a complete idiot to start typing but,how hard is it to not look at the top left corner of your screen,it's not like Pugs actually use the chat system who would have the time to type except the dead.

How about adding a bit of realism here...if the pilot is still alive but the mech has been destroyed, fix their view to be out of the dead mech's cockpit...no spectating out of other teammates' cockpits...and pilots can still communicate by text chat or with comms, but can only relay what they see out of the cockpit of their crumpled up mechs? Adds realism and prevents back-seat piloting. Doesn't prevent after-the-fact whining, but at least those comments would only be directed to the team in general without being able to spectate other pilots.

add in the option to jump cockpits but doing so turns off your chat and that may work

To be honest I think dead men talking is a fine thing. Encourages people to stick around once dead, helps nail down a disconnected git at the end of a game and why not be a little different to every other game, where muting the dead seems to be the norm. All makes for a more social experience.
However, there are the ranters, experienced my first today. To be honest I'm not sure what his beef was, or even how I somehow caused it, only noticed when a torrent of abuse began scrolling up the screen. Some way to blank people would handy, as it was bloody infuriating and hard to ignore.

"distracting and never helpful."

I disagree with both of those ;)

The game is filled with bright flashes, guns going off, mechs stomping around .. a little bit of text that is often missed isn't usually distracting for most.

The dead person has the unique perspective of being able to see through 11 sets of eyes. There have been many times when a dead person has said "enemy pushing d5" or "team mate needs an assist in c3" or "guys in f5 fall back there are 6 mechs about to over run you" ... fail to heed them at your peril since they have far more time to both watch and type :D

If there was one reason I would not want to hear the dead ... it is because it is unfair intel for my side ... not because it is "distracting and never helpful".
