I bought one, too..
I really hate when I see so many complaints about this game. I personally love it, but I'm also an easily pleased twerp.

Buyers remorse. It will set in. Enjoy the slump and the lighter bank account.

Says the person who has yet to buy any pack (Founders, Phoenix)? Unsure but it seems like you are not talking from previous experience here...

I did buy the Phoenix pack. Came to my senses and asked for a refund. PGI made good and refunded.

I don't hate the game. If I hated it, I wouldn't be here. Quite the opposite actually. I just know it could be better, especially if PGI actually did what they planned to do 2 years ago.

All I hear on this board is 'Disappointed!', 'Nerf PGI', 'Metabuilds!' and 'Game is the Dying!'

So why are you complaining about a company that refunded you when asked??? I mean you can be constructive but this is just absurd.... It might be best to not insult, but be more constructive... Just a thought but I know a TON of companies that give you the "tough luck you bought it answer"..

Good for you ! , people complain because of the state the games in its terrible with little in the way of content or balance, Must good games don't survive past 5 years MMO wise , And atm this games pretty terrible compared to whats out there. So yeah I won't spend money when I know the games going to die without a direction change may as well burn the money, But each to there own.

lol B)

I doubt that there are very many who actually hate the game ... I certainly don't ... I love it or I would not waste my time either playing or forum lurking.

That said ... we may still love the game and yet still disagree with the approach or decisions taken by the game's management and design team. They have a difficult job to do balancing a lot of conflicting interests. My guess is that the revenue stream is the only thing certain people somewhere near the top of the organization cares about. Whether these people are at PGI, IGP or Seven ... I have no idea.

With the low level of investment in development resources and the much larger relative investment in artists and art assets .. it is pretty clear that the priority is generally producing new mechs to enhance the revenue stream over choices that would enhance attracting new players, retaining exisiting players or increase the spending by exisitng players.

I suspect the reason for this attitude may be accounting. It is very easy to see exactly how much income is generated from mech/color/pattern sales. They can see which mechs are more popular ... which are the top earners and which failed to generate interest.

What is perhaps more difficult to quantize is the level of interest and player retention that keeps people involved and willing to spend money on this game. These factors are affected by DEVELOPMENT features ... new player experience and training, mech experience system (which in my opinion falls far short of the mark and has since closed beta ... PGI had lots of feedback to improve it two years ago), launch module and match making, community warfare, role warfare ... all of these required development resources and have a difficult to quantize effect on the bottom line. However, in my opinion, it is these features that will ultimately decide whether MWO lives or dies. The current model is unsustainable in the long run in my opinion because it is boring and provides no out of match incentives to play. This motivations is provided by metagame elements that give people a reason to play beyond the immediate match.

Anyway here is a summary of features and the expected effect on the player base

- mech experience system - it is identical for every mech - no options, no choices = boring when you are doing it for the 3rd, 8th, 10th, 40th time ... if each mech could choose from a common overall tree (think WOW sort of idea) ... common skill trees, class weight skill trees ... and at max experience you have to make choices so each chassis of each mech is different. That would certainly help some folks to stay interested in playing.

- leaderboards and a organized tournaments - these appeal to some folks

- community warfare - this appeals to some folks

- arena battle mode - free for all by weight class or teams of different sizes - this would appeal to some folks

- launch module and match maker - a good match maker with no queues is essential - a launch module that can support the organic formation of groups for matches is also important - they have the back end private match support but they need tools to form these up.

The sad thing is that these comments were all made 2 years ago ... many thought that these should have implemented before open beta though it is pretty clear that there would not have been a game if they had tried for that since basically none of these features are yet in the game. Community warfare was even initially promised within 3 months of open beta.

So ... although I suspect there is no one on here wasting their time to type in comments in the vain hope that PGI might listen and actually do something about it who actually hates the game ... there are certainly a lot of good reasons for folks to be dissatisfied with the direction and progress of development of the franchise over the last two years.

hm..... what's more pathetic...someone who might enjoy a little buyers remorse, or someone who appears to exist simply to troll a game he doesn't like?

Seems like the less pathetic course would be to actually find a game you DO enjoy, and like...play it? instead.

I enjoy the game, but you can't tell me that it's polished or complete.

Hit registration is shoddy - possibly contributing to meta balance, you can get impossibly stuck by just walking around the map (I find it's more common with jump jets though), and plenty of promised content has yet to be delivered.

And you want me to pay $120 to $240 on this game?

Some of us have already contributed to the game.

Only reason I'm here right now is I'm burning my premium time while I have the free time. Waiting a few months to buy Clan 'mechs for C-bills will be no skin off my nose, and I refuse to reward degenerate free-to-play pricing schemes. F2P is a way of gouging money from you, and MWO was the first F2P game I played and it will be the last.
