Also... It's kind of interesting. While I'm sure that Clan Mechs will be absurdly expensive to buy, its actually very cheap to kit them out. No DHS tax, fixed engines... Not to mention that clan mech default load outs are surprisingly effective.

There are LB weapons, though.
LBx-20 or the temporary Clan AC/20... 1,200,000 cbills. That thing is NOT cheap.

I've got a question.

Is there any stats regarding the lock-on times of clan LRMs and SSRMs compared with IS ssrm2?
i was using CSSRM-4 and the lock-on time was nearly 2 times longer than that of an IS SSRM2.

Don't know. Did you have BAP btw? That and Artemis are what keep your lock on times low for Inner Sphere mechs; that and I'm sure you probably have an advanced sensor on any IS mech you have.

On a side note.. Got some dakka up.

I love the sound of the MGs, but disappointed that their color is identical. I really would have liked blue flashes or tracers.

But even more than that -- the MG flash on all MGs is kind of obscenely overdone. There should be significantly less flash and more smoke (that's the bad thing about having fired a S.A.W.; it doesn't look anything like the movies and that flash that they add on shows is nothing more than a Photoshopped light show or deliberately removing flash suppressors; and even then it doesn't get as big as some of what you see.)

Well, there is the fact that they might want to run the test while their dev staff is available. Pulling a weekend shift is easy, pulling a weekend at a time you are SUPPOSED to be asleep is another matter entirely.

Couldn't of been said better. There are human beings behind those machines after all. :o

Thanks.
That was what i first thought... but neither BAP or artemis apply for SSRM lock-on time (do they??)... i even tried that with artemis installed, but no difference...
i dont know... maybe artemis decreases the IS streaks lock-on time as a bug...

Artemis by way of a glitch does reduce lock on time. However it's possible that it PGI might have done something to fix that. It'll be the first fix to a long standing bug that seriously impacted gameplay, one that has been standing since the original introduction of Artemis.

BAP makes a difference when there's ECM mechs around; even if the enemy mech is soft-countered by someone else (including their bap use), if you're within 180 meters you'll have trouble locking on.

I've had situations where lock on requires more than 8 seconds.

3 minutes in. Between me and another player, he brought the BAP and I put that weight into an extra streak with the idea that the three of us would gang up on someone and streak 'em to death. Didn't work. Even with two baps, one ECM could still increase my lock on time to nearly impossible levels.

Lock-ons, from what I'm been observing were longer than they should be even when people were direct-firing LRMs at things.

Something was awry from the videos/streams last test run. Hopefully that was only in the previous test build and it's fixed for Sunday. (And locks on an ECM'd visual-only are normally a lesson in suffering form an LRM user).

Even as a clan pack owner I feel this second pass would really be a great time to let anyone try the clan mechs. I feel you guys are truly missing out on sale opportunities.

I played the last test around 6 hours min. I fully agree with this, and wish that they would open it up for all to try out to see the difference's the clans make. Also inject GXP and C-bills so people can try different IS tech to help see what works and what does not against the clans.

I am hearing mixed feelings on the timber wolf and if I got to play them, it might just make me jump off the fence and buy. I will check it out for a bit on Sunday, but if its just some fixes added from all the feed back, I will not be playing for very long for sure.

The excuse "everyone will play clans and we won't have IS mechs for balance testing" to me is just that.... I bet there will be plenty that play IS if they open it up for all to get a feel for the clan mechs.

Last test seemed fun, and over all had a good time. Once we all got past and into the server when it came back up, I think you guys did a good job with the over all balance and feel for the clans out of the gate.

I hope we all get to play with the new mechs, come on, its only for 12 hours... lol

Stock Mondays will be a BT purists clan invasion wet dream.

I was playing around with the Dire A in the training grounds just for grins. It can vaporize an Awesome from 800 meters away with 2 salvos. Never even touched the SSRM6s.

Heat wasn't even an issue either.

If I'm reading those times right - that means that for Australians it'll be starting at four o'clock Monday morning and ending at four that afternoon. So every Australian Mechwarrior who would've been able to test this and either works or goes to school is missing out on it. I'm starting to think that they might be trolling Aussies at this stage; last test was on just as annoying a time for us as well - 3am to 3pm on a Thursday.

This would've been fine if you'd scheduled it for the Saturday and not the Sunday - then it would still be the weekend just about anywhere you have players. There's no point in me downloading the test client since I won't have time to play it in the morning before work and then it'll be closed by the time I get home. Or hell, you could've just made it a 24-hour test instead of a 12-hour one. Then I'd at least be able to get a few hours in on Monday evening.

This was the best news for me, for the whole week!

Returning from hospital care on Sunday just in time to have a 3 hour gap before the test begins. The streams impressed me, the mechs(and weapons) impressed me, the comments of the pilots impressed me.
- But what pleased me the most was that the "meta" IS mechs that I saw were on the receiving end with the clans, while the non meta stood their ground fairly well. This told me whole lot more, that I was the most pleased to see.

Until the Firemoth comes over, I don't think the IS lights will have to fight much for light mech superiority in terms of speed. Regardless of this... I can't wait to see how Sunday will go(and what was tweaked).

Thank you PGI and Snow, it seems like things are finally coming together nicely =)
(a Happy Warhound/Masakari owner, just for the sake of supporting the game/future of MWO, even if I stick with House Steiner)

Yeah, great news !

Another test for improvements and balancing.

Just take a look at the Pulse Lasers. The clan versions seems to have a litte more range (...oh just a few percent) than the IS version. Decrease the range a little bit, and then everything is fine...

Also note that far as I am aware none of the clan mechs make use of artemis and unless its recently been ninja fixed arty still buffs SSRMs lockon speed.

Maybe put some Clan Mechs up as Champions for folks who didn't buy?
Might even get you some extra sales :o
