How do I make this mech work? I have just been pounded every time I have driven it.
I have the prime, B and S(?).

Using the stock loadout? Lots and lots of chainfiring.

I haven't tried mine yet though, I shall post back when I do.

If it is too hot, drop some ML or go for the standard: 12x C-ERSL and 4x C-MG.

There's not enough pod space for large ballistics, you can fit an UAC20/LBX20 with two backup lasers but that's it.

I run the Prime like this, it's deadly at 180meters and really more heat efficient.

I'm sure you're going to find the good loadout for you =)

Haven't got into the game since patching yet, but Im planning to run my Nova Prime with this setup.
NVA-PRIME
2x ER LL
6x ER SL
18 DHS

Should give me a good mix of heat management, fire power and range.

this is pretty much what I was going to run also and I haven't tried it yet either.

i may do a mix of the other omni pods to try and get the LL in the torso and not the arms. The arms are so frigging huge and cover the entire side of the mech that they are so easily destroyed and then you are useless in the prime.

I haven't played a match with it yet, but i've been experimenting with 4 SPLas, 2 ERMLas, and a LPLas. It seems to be putting out good damage and has a very manageable heat curve.

I've been avoiding the Prime. In theory it makes a good corner shot specialist if you only put one hand around the side of cover.

Nova S, 6x ERML 4x MG, AMS. Had a fantastic match jumping on top of the large central building in River City and picking apart the enemy mechs camping in their turrets. Easy to jump to high areas, 6x ERML doing 42 damage alpha at 450 meters and 4x MG for mopping up crits.

I've been having some very good results (average of 500+ damage over 10 matches in a row, without strikes or arty) with just 12 er small lasers, each hand gets a weapon group (filled any leftover space with DHS and BAP). The trick on this thing is to survive long enough to get within 250m range or less, where this mech is just a wrecking ball! And heat even on Terra Therma is very easy to manage (never shoot both hand groups at same time).

Here is a prime build: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...acaced607c284c4
I may drop 1 or 2 erMLs for more C-DHS.

I have been running the B stock and this mod: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...072bd1719f0f965

I know the B can do a lot of damage. It is just hard to stay alive long enough to do it. I always seem to end up the priority target for a group of opfor mechs.

yea the SL Boat is my kind of thing as well. just sucks that there is no engine upgrades. if it could get to even 100k/hr that would suffice to me.

I just love the stock prime loadout. Haven't even considered changing it. Just fire left and right arm separately and have a third weapon group for chain firing (and fourth and fifth for chain firing the hands separately like I have).

The Nova S I run with the stock loadout, except without ams and more machine gun ammo.

Edit

Well I have to say I'm surprised. I didn't have any idea on Nova B how to build it, but I just tried this. And it actually works! The hitreg fix seems to have buffed the LBX weapons as well, and I just manage to decimate any unarmored component that comes my way. 2 games over 500 damage each with at least 1 kill

I quite like this one:

NVA-PRIME

uac10, 6sml and 4mg. I need to test it more though, the armour may be a bit low.

seems like everythng is pretty decent here.

tried thre 6ML and 6 SL and it was great,
tried the 2 LL and 6 SL and it was also good though that 1.1sec duration is killer on the LL

trying 6 SL + 6 SPL now.

ok.... I like the 6 SL + 6 SPL.

it us a fun alpha strike also.... 0 to 99 heat!

kinda liking the mech over all, you can dish out a lot of damage long as you have a friend and don't get stuck alone or lose an arm.

22 DHS... geeze

Stock build is doable with great heat management but I've been enjoying an energy and ballistic combo, almost like I would build a Cat K2 but with JJs.

thinging of trying somethnig like this with the B

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...199f66ff02fe1fe (note I would move UAC to LT)

or

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...555b39eb4e5f21e
1 ton left over to either add more ammo, another DHS, another ML, or maybe when targeting stuff is in place a MK1

might also try this but fear ammo would be a problem.

OKAY this is where it is at!

I call this magenta madness. 13 SL, 23 DHS. 4 weapon groups, chain fire, and go to town........even on terra therma, I only over heated once and if you get to high in the heat back off on one group and just use 3.... it was glorious

I'm considering picking this up for C-Bills in August. Here's some builds I have planned:
UAC5 hit and run build

Crit Internals support build

Energy brawler build
