I find it funny that all those talking about balance have never been on anywhere near a top level team...been here since they tournaments started, have been to all of them, dunno any of you, i don't even know you from my elo bracket facing lords and sjr all day.

I'm not sure there is qualifications for "Balance" talk in here...BTW...clans are ******* bat **** OP right now, and are -banned- from all comp play.....just sayin'!

Funny how when I run into those players they're more often than not in Dragon Slayers when they're running meta. The only clan mech that can even run a viable build for comp play is the Timberwolf.

Ill say this clan mechs are not op Ive piloted both IS and Clan mechs it just comes down to the tactics you use and knowing when to fight and when to bait. There have been a number of times I have engaged another mech knowing I will lose my mech only to wound a mech that would have been hard to take down and could have turned the tide of a battle should it last long enough, other times Ive been that mech that gets picked out because somebody thought my mech was dangerous to their team. In the end it comes down to the pilot themselves learn tactics to use on mechs and adapt when your having trouble.

No they are not banned from comp play. Both teams must agree between each other to allow Clan mechs. The main reason being that Clan mechs are not purchasable by CBills yet, and under the current rules mechs that aren't offered for CBills (with the exception of Hero and Champions) aren't allowed in comp play.

If this was an IS mech pack that wasn't available for CBills it would fall under the exact same restrictions, and has absolutely nothing to do with the current balance.

"This Is How We Do It"

La ra ra ra ra ra...

This is how we do it.
It's Friday night, and I feel all right
The party is here on the West side
So I reach for my 40 and I turn it up
Designated driver take the keys to my truck
Hit the shore 'cause I'm faded
Honeys in the street say, "Monty, yo we made it!"
It feels so good in my hood tonight
The summertime skirts and the guys in Kani
All the gang bangers forgot about the drive-by
You gotta get your groove on, before you go get paid
So tip up your cup and throw your hands up
And let me hear the party say FREE TO PLAY, PAY TO WIN!

Skills of the pilots being equal, currently it definitely is pay to win. Mech to mech, Weapon to weapon the clan stuff is better in almost every single way... less weight, less slots, less energy, more damage, more range, clip reload.

I expect that the clan mechs will receive a nerf once they open for sale for cbills however until that time, they will remain with the current op stats.

And yet...meta-Timby is about an even match for Dragon Slayers. Which fits PGI's ideals of "Clan = approx +5 tons IS 'Mech" perfectly. Continue to wet your pants over the "OP Clan stuff", the rest of us will continue to blow them to bits as usual.

It was never PGI's intention to have both sides in perfect balance. Clan mechs have to have "some" form of advantage to create an incentive to use them.

Previous MW titles let you mix/match Clan weapons on IS mechs, and as a result, IS weapons were almost never utilized.

When it comes to this game however, you need players playing both IS and Clan, so IS tech needs to have some kind of incentive to have players keep using them, all while still giving Clan players some of the advantages of Clan tech without just being downright superior in every possible way.

The best way I can describe what PGI has done in terms of Clan balance, is the amount of effort vs reward. Most Clan weapons have very long durations or have some form of spread that requires more focus and overall effort in order to see any advantages. Those games I end up getting >1000dmg are not idle games. I'm literally shooting almost the entire game, trying to keep every laser on target and still sweeping half my damage to other components (or a hill). I wouldn't say it's, "work," but it definitely requires your undivided attention.

When I switch back to IS mechs, it feels like I'm taking a break. My weapons feel cooler, my ACs are spot on at the click of a button, and my damage is easily focused on one area with little to no risk of spreading it elsewhere. I don't need to poptart when facing Clan mechs, but I do need to pay attention to where I'm positioning myself and making sure I give them the shortest amount of time possible for them to return fire. That's it. That's literally the only part of playing an IS mech that requires more effort now than before. You CANNOT expose yourself as long as you used to, but other than that, if I feel like I need a more relaxing game, I'll take an IS mech for their simplicity.

So yes, Clan mechs do have an advantage over IS, but it's not an advantage that comes easily. For beginners, Clan mechs would actually be counter-intuitive, and they're much better off piloting an IS mech without having to worry as much on aim or spread damage. For the average MWO player, Clan mechs are nothing more than a different flavor, but for the good players, Clan mechs do offer an advantage they can utilize, at the cost of requiring them to play harder to get it.

Just wait till they are mastered and also out fitted with the targeting computers. 15% faster projectile speed , 25% increase chance too crit. But the IS still have 2 advantages. 1: The light mechs and 2 initial DPS they can put out more firepower in a shorter space of time while the clan has a much higher sustained DPS. This totally ignores the Meta wolf and ofc the 2 ERPP 2 Gauss Dire whale.

Must be nice to have a good Ping rate. I'd fight you guys anyday to see whos a better pilot if I had a good ISP. Banning the use of a mech in a game is just pathetic and says alot about the clientel you hold yourself to "elite" I have plenty of IS mechs that would wreck the **** outa all my Clan mechs. U cant tell me or convince me at all even with ur self proclaimed Top Tier experience that Clan mechs are better. The only thing that makes them seem OP is the fact that they change their Hard points without having to buy 3 or 4 other MC IS mechs for the same set up or build you're looking for. Infact some of the Clan Mechs are sorely in need of a fix seriously bad. The Dire Wolf doesnt stand a chance in most face to face combat. Adder has very limited hard points, Mad Cat no space, and so on. The fact you cant even change the armor density and engines is obsurd. Need I say more?

You boys at the top brass claim to know ur ****, but seriously when it comes down to it you just boat around just like the rest of us.

Getting hit by 2 CERPPC'S is equal to getting hit by 4 IS ERPPC'S. Spread damage just makes the follow-up alpha more deadly because now the side torso is weak and easier to punch. Few IS mech can run a standard engine, so that means quicker dead IS mechs. I've been seeing it happen all weekend, when it truly becomes the meta, no IS mech will last 5 minutes against any group of clanners. Get out your wallet, or take a break for a while, cuz IS mechs are old news. Oops sorry make that 3 PPC's

That is not the same as being hit by 3 IS PPCs, those would all hit the same spot if you are playing true metagamer pilots...as it sits with 2 CERPPCs you are hit by 2 and then it is like you got sprayed with a pair of ML...especially if you hit an area with only 1 adjacent location, then you just completely lose that damage...

And suddenly in come people that think that those of us that have spent money on the game are somehow superior to those that have not. That's a totally BS attitude, and is not the least bit constructive. Whatever money you have spent upon the game has done nothing to make you in any way better than those that have not.

And before you start flinging accusations at me, I'll point out that Phoenix tag I have. Or you can go to my Twitch link and see me use clan mechs. (So far the Stormcrow is my friend, and the Nova is not.)

Actually, we are superior to those who have not. Let me explain. We have provided our own money in exchange for goods and services produced by a business providing those goods and services. We have taken it upon ourselves to support monetarily the company providing the game we enjoy playing. This allows PGI to continue providing said game to us and also to those who refuse to support the company financially. It does not make us better players, nor does it give us an "I Win" button like freepers think, but it does put us on a higher level in the eyes of any rational business person.

Now, I do not own a Clan 'mech, nor do I intend ever to own one. I have, however, purchased other goods and services from PGI. I am also not complaining that Clan equipment has broken the game; it has not. We, paid players, fund the game you freepers play, all the while demanding that the company cater to you, despite providing zero financial support to said company. Where is the incentive for PGI to give you what you want? Free players are not the lifeblood of games, despite what you may think. How could you be, if you refuse to contribute monetarily to the success of the business providing the game? Showing up does not get you a trophy in the business world; PGI is a business.

Now, most of the whining I read from people regarding these supposedly over-powered Clan BattleMechs is from the same handful of players, most of whom identify themselves as free players who are unwilling to pay for the game you wish to play. Why should anyone listen to you? PGI is offering you "a free meal" and you are complaining that you get fish sticks instead of prime rib.

No. Spending money on a game does not make you smarter, wiser, more industrious, more moral, more ethical, or in any measure a superior to anyone. In fact, spending money on a F2P game, if anything makes us look foolish. The high horse you are trying to look down on everyone from is made of cardboard, and you look pathetic.

I understand Clan tech is suppose to be OP but what about players who can't afford $55-$500 on a virtual item in a video game?

Those who have Clan mechs have a much higher chance of scoring better than those who do not.

What are the lower spending players who can only afford Inner Sphere mechs suppose to do while they wait on Clan mechs becoming CB purchasable and/or go on mech sales?

Inner Sphere doesn't stand a chance head to head with Clan.

Maybe have 1 Clan mech vs 3 Inner Sphere mechs or use handicaps?... because this feel like a completely new game.

Thank you!

Dragon Slayer, Highlander and CTF-3D are still arguably the best mechs in the game. Please stop with this.
