My Hunchbacks still hold a very special place in my heart, even if I dont run them often.

My JM6-S is definitely a favorite (Dakka build, but I dont think its "Meta-approved") Love my Orions too, my VA seems to be my favorite of those.

And do love my TBR-Prime and DWF-B :P

I love the Jaeger-DD with 2 LBX, 4 MGs, and 2 ML. If you play smart and cautiously it will tear apart almost anything that is stupid enough to walk in front of it. It is the perfect ambush mech.

Even though i don't have one yet i'd say the Timber Wolf, because i only care about how the mech looks (and the Mad Dog isn't here yet)

Pffft impossible. I honestly like every mech I've ever tried except the Locusts and the Catapult C4.
Some of them take longer to love than others. I will always have a special place for the Jenner-D though and the "noisy cricket" Cicada 3M

Spider-5D with ECM, JJ, ER-Large and Medium Laser. I nicknamed it "The Tick". Fast and agile, it is hilariously good fun to find a lone Atlas in the open, get behind them and dig in while shooting their center back torso.

Prior to clans, it was my Firebrand, hands down (2xAC5, 6 ML). With the drop of clans, though, I find myself losing a lot of durability matchups against Clan Heavies of similar skill...simply because their weapons and speed are slightly higher than mine, but the XL I have to carry to make up the tonnage is so much more fragile than theirs.

As such, lately, my brawler Atlas D-DC and my brawler Cataphract 1X have had great fun taking it to Clanners close-range and wading through fire with impunity and STD engines. (Note: I may need to load up a STD on the Firebrand...just haven't made myself do it yet and gimp my speed *tear*)

My favorite has to be Nova even though I do better in my stalkers, timberwolfs and direwolfs.

The nova setup I like the most has 12 small lasers and 4 machine guns. Decent speed, jump jets and the machinegun sounds.

Even with my clan mechs, I'm coming back to my Jag-A, the LRM5 boat with 2 ac5 2 ML. It was the first mech that I really felt like I knew what I was doing when I bought it.

Current IS mech would be the Arrow. Paint screams "Look at ME!", and is fun with the machine guns and pulse lasers. Not so good when it is raining (LRMs) though.

Current Clan mech is the Timberwolf. For me, that mech IS Mechwarrior! I love how it looks in MWO, it hit the gym to lose those light mech arms and legs into something beefier! It also plays well in the game. I refuse to not have the double missile pods equip, though it doesn't matter if its LRM or SRM. Gotta have those!

DWF-PRIME

What can I say. I've always liked the slow deliberate pace of assaults and just having massive firepower. This mech is the epitome of those things. Even when I get left behind and sacrificed to merry go 'round strategy I usually get 300 or more damage out.

Before the Clans I ran something more like this:

BNC-3S

But since the range reduction I would probably have to trade the AC20 for a Guass.

Prior to the clans my favourite was always the quad ac2 jager even with ghost heat.

Now with the clans the stormcrow with 30artemis srms. You have to love it
It totaly wrecks face, an alpha of 60 on over 100 kph and great agillity plus the awesome looks.
Hit and run in perfection.

But my favourite mech outside MWO is and will always be the Cougar besides the Mad dog

Hunchback (Grid Iron w/ standard AC20 build), Griffin (1N) and Awesome 9M.

The Griffin is probably my most well rounded of the three and regardless of how a match plays out I have offensive options plus its super mobile so I can always relocate.

The Hunchy is a great little mech too but I often find myself frustrated because its limited in range and I can get picked off before doing anything substantial. On the other hand its got an AC20 and it's fun to pop circling lights or big baddies in the back.

With the Awesome it's all about finding a firing lane and taking opportune shots with the PPCs. I admit that I have a tendency to alpha them a bit more often than a should but its too tempting to rip off components with that sweet 30 point alpha. On the other hand it becomes really tame if an enemy starts face hugging.

Not to be confused as "what mechs are "best", as one can enjoy mechs that are not "Meta-approved".

For me, I have found things changing. For instance, I used to LOVE the Victor. The ground agility nerfs leave me hating to even touch it.

So ATM, mine is hands down the Griffin. Does not have quite as good of hard points as the Shadowhawk, or hitboxes, but is close. But it's agility? Off the charts, 130º twist before you unlock it, great arm reflex and 7 JJ. And the FoV? Yeah, pretty much tops. It's a flanker's dream, and can carry a great blend of energy and missiles.

When they first came out, I preferred the balanced hardpoints of the GRF-3M, but have become a died in the wool fan of the classic, GRF-1N, so much that I own 2. One optimized for my playstyle ( il Fianchetto ) and one that I run for Stock Mech matches (also use my GRF-1S for that a fair bit). I don't have the best average damage of my mechs with it, only hovering about 350 avg match damage. But I am running a 3.4 W/L and 3.6 KDr with it. The W/L in particular means a lot to me.

And.....it is simply bloody gorgeous to my mind, with a WWII Bomber aesthetic and simplicity. Please PGI, don't screw up the Hero version!!!!!!

So what is your "mech of choice"?

(Honorable mentions to the ON1-VA and yes, Summoner-Prime. Not because the Summoner is amazing. It has just always been my favorite clan mech)

Dire Wolf, I honestly thought it would be the TW, and yes, I still like that mech, probably second best, but the Dire Wolf is my favorite mech.

Personally, my all time favorite mech in MWO, is the CN9-A Centurian.

To me, it's everything a medium mech is ment to be, it can fill any role needed, it can be fast, have high armor, zombie, whatever you need from a mech, the CN9-A can fill the role, it's got all 3 hardpoint types, it's got good speed and armor, it's just an all around good mech.

And it looks pretty awesome.

Jenner is my favorite by far, tried the new fangled Firestarters but just can't get the feel of them. The Jenner-F gets the most use but I do play around with my Oxide and sometimes my Founder's D model.

Speed, small size, good punch, Deathlike said it best, a little ball of hate.

Toss up between a couple different ones right now.

All my mostly non meta Cataphracts. Probably play the the dual gauss/ 2 ml/ 2 mg Cataphract-4X the most though lately. Firebrand with 2 ultras/ 2 erll and basically any of my Shadowhawks.

Protector (only Orion I have so far) and D-DC get a runner up.

ETA: Victors would be high on the list as I really like the mech and enjoy them in general but the nerf to the torso twist/ turn speed left me playing them very little these days.
