Quick someone buy me a gold warhawk, by virtue of pay to win (and Dragonball Z) going gold must make you unbeatable!

Don't forget to ignore all the balancing features when calling something OP.

That's the best way to convince someone with a bias opinion.

Sorry for off-topic and all, but I felt like this would feel in into pay2win topic, as this game is CLEARLY a pay2win. You can say it isn't, but this is what I feel after 2 days of playing.

I agree to an extent as MWO follows a F2P path that is a bit different from valve F2P titles like DOTA 2 or TF2 but honestly is less grindy to the even competition plateau than LOL or War Thunder. Once you buy and outfit 3 mechs and get them leveled to elite you are basically at the end of the Pay to skip the grind phase and that should only take a week or two if you focus on a medium or heavy chassis you like. At that point you can basically compete on even ground. The biggest thing is honestly the purchase of DHS and Endo steel and getting elite pilot skills.

Perq, you just started playing. This does not mean your opinion is invalid, however it will mean you have little experience with this game. Do not listen to the hype. Go read that post that breaks down how OP the clans are vs. IS, done with a statistical analysis. Even with NO serious balance pass yet, the Clans are not near as "OP" as a lot of the QQ Crowd would have you believe.

dont care if they are. dont nerf them.

if clans get nerfed (and they already kinda have regarding JJ) then everyone that gets them for cbills will get gimped clans.

the people that paid will have indeed then gotten "P2W" mechs

again dont care dont nerf the clans

So I am back after a long break being frustrated with the matchmaking. I always liked, that real money does not give you better stuff. It just saved you time and gave visual things like the aperance of your mech or stuff in you cocpit.

Now I am virtually the only one without a clanmech. I still get creamed away in every match and shot in the face very hard and the clan machines lead the score really high.

So we have change to Pay to Win now? Please explain how this contrebutes to the ALREADY very bad machtmaking / balancing in this game.

As CW isn't here yet, and the actual Invasion has not begun... What are Clanners winning other than E-Peen?

Its only pay to win in the sense that if you got the mech you want, then you already won. :)

I want a Summoner so I'm pretty much a loser till September. I think I got like 5 million saved up. I'm guessing I need 20 million.

In my opinion this is where they are better. They are pretty.....the cockpit view like a iphone while is cockpit looks like some green puke mono-color. The missles look cooler. Just looking from spec and videos I would bet definitely feel more comfortable in a clan mech. I'm a bit color blind so something as stupid as prettier colors is big for me.

They look like a joy and fun to ride. I'm completely envious.

The pain and suffering of watching that IS bias mf'er who said he is IS only always talked smack against clanners and he has all clan mechs that YOU can't drive.....and now he put on a clanner tag. Like if everyone is banging your girlfriend except you. I will cherish this pain. :D

So the question remains, is it really OP, or just better?

Yes. OP Is a judgement relative to the power curve of a given game. When an element is severely outside the curve, it is considered OP.

So, what elements are necessary to make a good mech in MWO? In no particular order, a mech must have reasonablereasonable hit boxes, energy and ballistic hardpoints (as direct fire is king), a reasonable degree of mobility, and jump jets/ability to jump must be considered. So, how does the aforementioned Cataphract stack up? Well, the hitboxes are very reasonable, it has the ability to mount good direct fire weapons, and, while not incredibly mobile, the mobility can be adjusted to pilot preferences. It is capable of a 30 point pinpoint alpha, which is highly respectable for a mech its size.

Comparative, the Timber Wolf S runs at 89 tweaked, has the same great hitboxes, and is capable of a 30 point pinpoint alpha. It runs faster, jumps, runs cool, and can even adjust to a non-pinpoint build far easier with 12+ hardpoints to play with. What here is not outside the curve?

Closer to 30 - maybe 33.

TW is going to run closer to 14 per variant, Summoner will likely hit 10 or 11 per variant and you gotta catch 'em all or you won't be a Pokemon Mechwarrior Master!

You got time to grind though. This an example of where buying those mechs with the 30% boost plus premium time pays off; it's an 80% total boost on cbill gain. Do that in a good chassis and you're going to get a fat stack of bills pretty quickly.

YES - P2W..... Clan was meant to be better but it did not have to be a pay thing. Should have been content - I would pay for some new maps and maybe some content so the clans invaded something other then leader boards with OP mechs.

Sad but oh well.

If you let people downgrade the engine, and remove the 5 tons from the hardwired heatsinks contained in the engine, I'm sure people would LOVE to get 10 additional tons for weapons.

What is your proposition to balance this mech?

Hardpoint size limitations would balance it, as well as most of the other problem mechs in the game.

No proposition, just nerf it to death, together with all heavies / assaults.

Timberwolf? Honestly, I heard a solution elsewhere that I think would be significant.

JJs tied to the variant. You want JJs? You take the S variant. It's got 5 JJs hardwired in. Otherwise you get none.

That's a big part of the advantage - 1 JJ in a Clan mech with loadout to suit.

Hardlock the Jump Jets to the side torsi in the S variant, decrease the overall ROF on weapons fired from the torsi, and decrease acceleration and deceleration speeds.
