As entertaining as this thread is...

I have recorded my control "9 CERLL" video, and tomorrow after the patch, I will record the new 9 CERLL video. Hope for am engine one shot and post it for entertainment.

Then go back to playing battlefield 4.

I have more faith in EA at this particular moment.

The PPC nerf is huge and I suppose I will need to change/mothball my Jester and put LRM's back on my C1... Of course the CERLL got hit hard too. It definitely needed to have a bigger heat penalty and maybe a tiny bump in burn time. But .5 seconds? I'm an IS pilot who got rolled today and I find that kinda out there.

"but we will start slow..." lol. If that's your idea of slow remind me to never get into a car with y'all.

I'll refrain from speculating on whether or not this is a good or bad change, but I will suggest this:

Instead of putting these changes into the live servers immediately with only internal testing and feedback from some meta-competitive players, why not open up the test servers over the weekend to let everyone test it out and provide feedback before it goes live?

And this crap is y pgi didnt get my money for the clans! U all knew they where gonna **** up the weapons one way or another so I said screw that I'll buy them for c bills when they come out. Hell I know this is a bad nerf without even using the weapons ever! As for the ppc nerf I already started building ppc ac10 combos to get ready. Saddest thing about all this is the company is trying to balance out stuff that was never balanced in the 1st place. How does one even do that? If it where 9 vs 12 or 10 vs 12 they wouldn't have to balance any weapons as far as IS to Clan goes because everyone knows clan **** is better in every way. So it's all right out there from books, lore, old games, etc. and pgi still goes another way. What a waste, truly dip s h i t s

And I was enjoying that particular chassis, too.

2 qualities contributed to the use of lots of energy weps from clans: non-removable heat sinks (thus, the smart choice is to invest in the weapons those chassis are designed for), and the need for direct fire against Inner sphere ballistics. Fighting fire with fire meant PPCs and ERLLs, since clan ballistics are damage-over-time.

Now, if this is part of a move to reduce the range of the game across the board, and give LRMS and Gauss a 'niche', then that sounds cool.

Until then, though, all I see is more inner sphere ballistics.

I'm just gonna delete this from my tabs so I dont feel compelled to check up on this game anymore this is my last time ever logging in, I simply cant stand this game anymore, clans are the reason I got into this game, now I have no reason to play it anymore, not that I was going to actually spend anymore money but now the fun will be completely out, the balance just keeps getting worse.

No new maps in a very long time, no new game modes, no cw I will never see anything else I'm just done.

Uninstalling and...have fun.

I disagree with heat scale changes to CERLLs, the rest I can live with. That said, I think this kind of orbital nerfbardment is bound to be reversed to some degree, and soon too.

Clan ER Mediums could definitely use a nerf though. They're basically 1 ton IS large lasers.

These Nerf are terrible!
You should just jump forward in timescale and maken IS Weapons lvl2 Tech.
Or just take out the Clans from the game.
You say that CERLL are heat efficiant? Its because we are using more Heatsinks.

Well there is a new suggestion for nerfing Clan Mechs ! Restrict the ammount of Heatsinks that are used for clan mechs and the base heat of a Clan Battlemech is 50% when he is standing still!

Its no fun anymore really !

PGI has definitely made a massive amount of progress the past 6 months (I can only say massive because they began being so profoundly incompetent it was unbelievable). But honestly, they still really kind of suck compared to most other moderate size F2P companies.

Seriously. For ***** sake. Hire someone who knows something about how to balance gameplay already. And while youre at it. Make some gamemodes that don't play the same 1-2 ways every ******* match. The gameplay is stale as all hell even with clan mechs. :(

I can live with all of these changes except the change in ghost heat from 3 ERLL to 2. It makes stock builds running 2 ERLLs much worse overall.

Ghost heat was implemented originally to combat excessive boating, and while it is somewhat inelegant, it does work for that purpose. Unfortunately, now it appears to be a flat out band-aid fix for anything that it can be applied to. Sorry, but I think most people would not consider carrying two of a weapon to be, "boating."

As many others have said, the ERLL nerfs were just too aggressive, and largely unwarranted. If you really wanted to discourage people from boating them with ghost heat, just make it so that firing 3+ simultaneously generate very high heat levels.

First; thank you for taking the time to walk us through your thought process. I don't agree with the conclusions, but I appreciate the information very much.

Slowing the projectile speeds of PPCs seems like a really funky way to get to your desired end state. It's a Particle Projection Cannon...something just feels wrong about seeing ballistic slugs moving as fast as (or faster) than an energy bolt. Heat and previous nerfs to projectile speed already reduce their usefulness. My concern is that making the projectile as slow as this is going to effectively kill them as a weapon. Why would I bother using something so onerous? The heatsink investment alone, to use just one ERPPC effectively, is already obnoxious.

If you're trying to stop people from sniping at extreme ranges with PPC's, why not just increase the rate at which the projectile loses damage past its maximum effective range. That would seem more logical and more palatable than watching ballistic rounds fly faster than energy bolts.

Setting the limit on Clan ER Large Lasers to 2 seems a bit egregious to me as well. Several designs were built around firing two or more of these at the same time. Your other adjustments should be sufficient to do the job you want.

I think I shall apply ghost heat to all my problems in every day life.

Girlfriend problems.....GHOST HEAT!

Dog pooping on the rug.......GHOST HEAT!

Got drunk and woke up with a wildabeast of a woman.......you guessed it GHOST HEAT!

I'm pretty sure I'll get the same results.
