When I want a challenge, I take Pulse lasers. Less effective, more heat, less range.

It's pretty much gimping yourself on purpose.

When I do well with those, I feel it was a good match. Though apparently PGI wants to nerf my Wub...I guess I get a greater challenge.

I do. It's called PUGGING.

Herding a group of mental hospital patients with motor neuron disorder is easier than that.

Playing the PUG lottery isn't really a challenge, though. It's a game of chance. Which team will derp hardest?

Poker is also game of chance. I heard it is quite challenging.

Or you mean it is by luck that I have positive WLR? :P

Then again, Clan mechs added quite a lot on the chance factor.

When a team derps too hard, not even Wub can carry them.

Well, not every time, at least.

I play this game because it's fun to drive around a big stompy shooty mech, and I have little to no time for tabletop Battletech these days. (I still fire up Mechcommander or the Crescent Hawk's games from time to time for the same reason.)

Beyond that, I'm not sure what this game is supposed to be. CW is not functional yet. It's a long way away from being considered any sort of e-sport. Neckbearding your way to the bonus module slot is a nice goal but doesn't bring a whole lot in the way of status or advantage. Even if there's the occasional fanatic who will scream in chat all match long if the team doesn't go to the right map grid, this is a low-stakes, low-pressure game that is easy to kick back and enjoy. It's not Starcraft 2 where I have to worry about rolled every match because I let my APM dip or missed the latest change to the meta.

I don't even particularly care about balance, because I'm here for the lore and to see if PGI can turn this game into something worth while. I can appreciate a good showing in a losing cause versus a Clan mech...even though I don't necessarily expect anybody else to. If this game ceases to be fun, I'll just go fire up a game of MegaMek or something.

I am certain the real challenge is not to cry at every drop of a hat. For every person that claims that its impossible to face clan in IC light or mediums, probably isn't playing the role of light or medium to full capacity. Good pilots are OP, nerf good pilots. And nerf footballs too for that matter. Everyone likes a good ol nerf football.

I love seeing light mechs with the only ECM on our team, run off to "scout", leaving the entire team unprotected only to die first in the first minute of the match.

Well That is kinda the main task for a Light with ECM Carcass.

I found out past weekend that Griffin/Shadowhawk/Wolverine with SRM's are scary for clan mech's if correct tactic and situation assessment is done. Clan lights are melting like sugar, mediums are not that harder too, but have to watch our for laser boats not to be able to push all laser damage in one spot.
The only real pain in the @ss are timbers - that one, my friend, is a real challenge to kill - better not to get on his radar too prematurely. Everything else is killable, just requires some concentration and tactics so you don't end up in a crossfire - if you manage that and apply your damage in a regular manner - it's quite easy to get damage, kills and lot's of XP.

A recent combo I tried, for fun I thought - well, now it's a permanent build in my mechbay: a JM6-A with twin AC/10 and 4 x SRM4 - a beast, I tell you, a beast...

Try new things. Ridiculous builds at a first glance are just that - ridiculous. But I kid you not - they tend to work well and are a genuine surprise for the enemy (while they laugh - they get killed)

As a dedicated Medium Pilot, I can say that those moments are the absolute best part of MWO.
There's just nothing like winding up in a 1vs1 dual with an Assault Mech (IS or Clan) and coming out on top. The thrill of knowing that just one little mistake can result in my destruction gets my heart pounding!

I play games to win, if I feel it's not balanced properly, it reduces my ability to win on an even scale.

If I want a challenge, I'll try to hang on to my wife after I tell her, her sister is better!! LoLz love that joke!

I do.

Honestly I've only made changes to I think 4 of them. Converted my Kit Fox Prime into a stock C (as close as the current pods allow at least), Changed my Nova Prime to 2 ERLL and the rest ERSL, and I played with a couple Dire Wolf variants (non-meta builds). All the others are stock. I'm currently running about 45-50 mechs that I need to elite/master, probably 90% are completely stock with only minor changes to the others.

Sure thing. Though when you are the only ECM on your team, I would say covering your team  would override the need for a deep scout.
