Need Mauler badly, but Cyclops should be it.

I went Zeus for looks alone besides I don't want to insult a command mech like the Cyclops by removing its useless command console straight out the gate.

Voted Cyclops as I'm a sucker for Support and Command and Control Mechs.
Love the Zeus and would definitely like to see it in game at some point in the near future, but I think we in the IS need another mech on the heavier end of the Assault spectrum.
Also, hopefully the production of a mech that carries a "BattleComputer" will allow Devs to re-examine the C&C capabilities of similarly equipped IS mechs (read Raven, Wolverine, Atlas DDC, Battlemaster).
Could be an angle to even the balance back towards IS.

Tough choice between the Cyclops and the Zeus
I'm voting Zeus because Steiner does not really have much iconic units in this game. you have Jenners and Dragons, jagermechs & Victors, Ravens & Vindicators, and Awesomes & Orions. all Steiners have are their Atlai.

the Steiners are in need for a faster scout mech anyway. ;)
After that then i would probably vote for Cyclops as the next Assault mech

Voted for the Cyclops. It better have ECM and maybe a new command module ( or upgrade the existing ones stats cause its poop right now ).

So, to recap, here is what the Zeus and Cyclops would offer to set them slightly apart from other assaults:

Cyclops
-We already have two 80 ton mechs, but only one 90 tonner
-Potential for ECM (pure speculation based on fluff, no confirmation yet)

Zeus
-Slightly different hardpoint layout than other assaults (no current assault has a missile arm on the right side and ballistic arm on the left side...the Cyclops is basically an Atlas with an added CT missile)
-More iconic Steiner mechs for the game (Davion already has a lot of their icons, even in the assault class [Victor])
-The timeline-friendly ZEU-6Y variant comes with a Binary Laser Cannon stock, which means that the IS could *potentially* get a new weapon if that variant was chosen

Agree with the first part, but not the second.

If the Cyclops gets in that means we'll have two 90 ton mechs (it and the Highlander), which means adding the Mauler would make it 3, which is a few too many for that tonnage. If the Zeus gets picked that's 3x 80 ton mechs, (and 2x 85t, 1x 90t, 1x 95t & 2x 100t). Since there are very few 95 ton mechs that meet the criteria that means that the next Assault would likely be the Mauler.

Mauler needs to be on that list make up a version of it if there isn't 3 I don't care. Or figure out a way past the basics with only 2 for versions that mech. I certainly don't want to see a 3rd 80 ton mech before seeing a second 90 toner.

MAL-1R - 3048
MAL-C - 3051... three months left until the new year...

I think the Charger is a complete waste of a slot. Sure, it's fast but it has really no weapons loadout. The Warhammer IIC or Mauler would've been better options. The Warhammer chassis lubes my bearings.

Voted for the Cyclops, it's the only useful 'mech out of the three just as long as its head hitbox is modified.

Forget these. More Annihilator, less fudging Maulers to fit in without having enough variants.

Also: More Crab for mediums to go with it's big brother in December

and... why is the flamer still completely useless? Just remove it from the game or spend 2min fixing it so it does more heat to the enemy than yourself. How long has it been now?

But yeah, 5 SL 80t mech? IF we have to... Charger!

Zeus I guess. Far more interested in the Mauler, Annihilator and devastator.

Don't forget you can revote if your first choice is Charger because this is a 2-mech race.

Zeus is fine, but nothing distinctive. The cyclops has a ton of lore behind it that could make for some great quirks. I would love to see what Alex does with the head/cockpit on it as well.

So yeah, Cyclops all day long.

Potential for ECM, potential for putting pressure to work on EWAR pillar and functional C3 (which opens up a ton of mechs that currently don't make sense in MWO).

But most importantly I want to see what a MWO Cyclops would look like.

I would be fine with the cyclops or zeus but would prefer the cyclops, the charger seems like it would be a one trick pony. Take off that one arm and without melee/etc it's useless.

On a side note, the thing to remember about the Charger is that MWO allows for nearly infinite customization of IS mechs. You wouldn't be limited to 5 Small Lasers. Each hardpoint in MWO can carry any size of weapon you wish -- if you were crazy you could make a 4 PPC Charger. Something more practical might be 4 ERLL or some mixture of PPCs and LL. Hardpoints would probably be inflated to at least 7, so that further increases loadout options.

That being said, I'd still prefer a Zeus because it would basically be a Victor without agility nerfs and a somewhat unique hardpoint layout. There's also the potential Binary Laser Cannon variant, although admittedly that seems unlikely to be selected.
