Oh I think i do know what i'm talking about, more so than you anyway. It can be done (i wouldn't personally).

Simple fact is you cant fully utilize all that srm goodness effectively due to heat.

You realize that statement sugests you admit that you agree with me that it's stupid to use the XL engine.

And you can fully utilize the srm goodness as you can fire 3x6 with no ghost heat with lasers.... and then fire the other srms and retreat around cover.

maybe I'm wrong but it seems to be able to carry way too much for its weight class.

1. Anyone will be able to get the Mad Dog very soon so it is in no way pay to win even if it were OP, which brings me to my next point...

2. Fit like that is what you might call a troll fit, since there is no way to sustain that kind of firepower and not overheat on the second alpha. So you either pop out, take a shot and run away which while annoying is not OP or you can fire half your weapons remain heat neutral and stay in the fight which again is not OP.

As someone already said: There is this thing called a clue. OP you should get one...some of us are even helping you with that.

Tell us OP, is it more "OMGWTFBBQ P2W Haxors" than the TimberWolf, or less?

Really?

So it's an A1 splatcat with 6 srm 6 but it also has lasers.

And you're trying to say this game isn't pay to win?

Here I am, just getting back from work, haven't even patched, and already people want to nerf the toy I got for spending $400.

Because clan weapons are generally lighter and take up fewer slots. Clan SRM 6 is half the tonnage of an IS SRM 6.

While I dn't actually think the mad dog is OP, you probably shouldn't expect an in-game advantage for spending money.

You should have expected this. My games have been full on uproars about P2W and then it trails off into every other "reason" PGI "sucks" and how MWO is "dying"

People can continue to scream, yell and get mad. I've had 0 issues with the Vulture on any of my mechs. It's annoying, so is every other mech that's faster than me. Then when you try and reason with these people they grief you for spending money and blah blah. I knew today would be like this. The bitterness is real.

An XL on the stalker is a death sentence. You really don't know what you're talking about.

An XL on a SRM Stalker is pointless as it doesn't need the tonnage, so actually you might want to consider who does and does not know what they are talking about.

Let's do a little learning: STK-3F

Max 310 Engine means, XL does nothing for this build.

In fact, this build doesn't even need Endo.

Here's no Artemis, with more DHS: STK-3F II

The game was initially set on this premise. The first wave or two of mechs they came out with were different but not better/worse than what we had. Then they eventually settled on power creep.

And now we have clan mechs being better across the board (other than lights). If you're tryning to play with IS mechs against clan tech you're at a huge disadvantage right now.

That's what I was trying to say. I don't know why you felt the need

1) agree with me
2) make it sound like you're arguing with me while doing so

This game is,always has been, and always will be(as long as the hardpoints aren't sized) about slapping on the biggest 1 button alpha you can.Why is this still surprising to anyone?

Just watch. PGI will nerf all Clan SRMs to fix the new Mad Dog problem. And then the Mad Dog is still slightly OP, and all other Clan SRM boats are effectively useless.

This is ridiculous right now. Every time I'm in my assault mech and I see this 60 ton heavy mech with SRMs, I do this:

OP, you need to go outside, take a walk, get a girlfriend, pop a chill pill, grab a beer, or something, or just stop trolling. A Mad dog has hardly any armor and is easy to take down. Just shoot the damn thing. As far as IS vs Clan, I have plenty of IS mechs in the heavy slot that will blow away Timber Wolves and Mad Dogs, so shove your trolling up your arse and play the game instead of crying out for smelly cheese when there is none.

That's just not true. Back when the game was 8 people it was more about sustained damage.

Some people were using the alpha builds with low heat but they rely exclusively on cover. You could do a lot of damage with high alpha but you couldn't sustain the damage. There used to be a lot more brawling and full commitment to fights because you had a lot of map to cover and only 8 mechs. There were a lot more 1 vs 1 fights and 2vs2 or 2v3. Bring out your best alpha build and fight against a dps brawler in the open. The alpha build gets hosed. Thankfully now there are more alpha team mates to cover you and this makes alpha strike builds even more viable.

Here's your problem. I'm not trolling.

Make the mad dog 36 srm build and then try the same thing on the A1. One of these things is much better than the other and it isn't the IS mech.

That's the hitboxes.

And half tonnage launchers, really. Give IS dead-fire missiles and be done with it.

What?
nearly every build that has brought about any change(ie:nerfbat) since closed beta has been a high alpha build, with only a couple of exceptions (small ac boats mostly).

lunchback
gausscat
PPC stalker
gauss/ppc poptart
SRM splatcat
AC40 jaeger
deathstar direwolf

the list goes on and on.PGI has been chasing the high alpha situation around in circles like a bunch of drunk monkeys since this games inception.
