So maybe it is just you and few others, who don't like it?

NOT a fan, at all, of that night river city map......at all.
And I like crimson straight the best, but......statistically its my worse map...go figure
and I do loves that new map, more places to hide and snipe than a thin fibrous wooden object could be rapidly vibrated towards.

Or most of us dislike it but think that with so few maps, it's crazy to get rid of any?
I dislike Alpine, RC(N) and TT, but don't really think taking out a quarter or more of a limited mapset is a good idea. When there are 50 maps, that may be different.

Personally, I've found most people who demand the omission of a map tend to do so because it requires a doctrine contrary to the one they are most comfortable with.
I struggle with River City more than any map... That said, I appreciate the challenge ever time I'm dropped into it....

I think it is pretty good, here is why:
1. Requires some interesting heat management.
2. It offers a central arena if you like.
3. You can choose not to do the arena as there are many ambush points.
4. Conquest it actually can offer fast mechs an advantage.\
5. For Assault, it requires base protection as it is too large to get back to base compare to the smaller maps.
And more. Anyway.

As opposed to places where the snow is so thick you can misjudge a building for an ECM'd mech.

you have to learn to control your heat build up
In short those that want a map that pushes them, should like it.
Those that want everything on a plate want it removed

The laser boat alpha shooters that run close to shutdown on cooler maps are usually the ones crying about Therma.

As it is, I always pray that the team will decide against trying to go center, because the battles up there are always a mess. Also its hard to see on a calibrated monitor, and your visions do little to help (why doesn't heat vision calibrate to ambient temperature?)
I do have to say they have made it better than when it was first introduced, used to be awful to start a battle then to find a light was caping your base, and the boxes in the entryway of the volcano do help a bit too.
I don't think we should throw out a map, there are too few as it is. Even a bad map at least makes you appreciate the good ones more, but lowering its frequency in rotation would make be happier
