across 10 matches average, which means just 6 points per match
You are correct. I was thinking (incorrectly) that the score is a 10 match average, when in fact it is 10 x top scores. So in fact, the 6 points per match could come from an extra 90 points of damage, or an additional kill or assist. That still seems a "non-trivial" level from my perspective, but nowhere near as much as I originally posted.

I will fix the error in my original post.

rewards like this fasten the learning process.

Everybody is already doing that, even without the contest. I've seen a severe lack of lights and mediums the past few weeks in the queue. Like... down to 4% lights at one point, and the lowest I've seen the mediums is like 12%.

Had it 3 times all weekend and none today on my day off. Was wondering if they'd dropped the rotation %. :o

Good idea to include a cbill reward but please consider lowering the needed score next time.

I am not saying that it should be free but i see lots of people having trouble achieving the minimum required points and the new players need it the most.

very much this

New player assistance comes in the form of the cadet bonuses (and don't they get like 24 hours of free premium when they sign up, too?). Everybody can always use more c-bills, that's not an argument at all, but the new players definitely get a c-bill boost right off the bat as it is. They do have the option, like all other players, to buy a few MC to get premium time or hero mechs as well, which both boost c-bill gain. The point of the c-bill bonus in the contest is -to earn it-.

I would like to have a page where i can see my counting top 10 games, so that i can see what kind of match i have to do, to get a better.score. Additional i would like to no how many paticipants are there per bracket.

As for the c-bill bonus, i like it and i think its good as it is. Right now i got 48 counting matches.
And for the main rewards i think, to get to 2000 points is kind of skill, above it becomes more luck than skill.
The more you play, the higher the chances are to get into a match where you are the absolute overlord ond rule the match.
Thats how pugs work.

wow first place for clan lights cant even beat the points for 15th place (light clan is). guess speed is better than fire power ay

It's a combination of issues, but the biggest one is folks who have both clan lights likely have other mechs they'd rather play in. There's not an even sample size in each category.

Example: At the moment, I rank 557 in IS Lights with a score of 1345, and rank 371 in Clan Lights with a score of 883 (Don't think I have 10 games here). That doesn't mean that clan lights are that much worse, it simply means less folks are playing them, which will also will effect the top of the leaderboards.

Lights and Mediums be pretty much extinct and for a reason - you face Clan Heavys and Assaults that hurt you at every range be it Gauss or Lurms or Lasers or ACs gallore and that in numbers that be simply unehalthy while 95% of the maps you play on be ranged combat compatible if not favourable.

My Medium SHD-P is best inside of 270m (AC10, 3x SRM4) and can reach out to 700m when i accept the damage falloff that my AC10 has.
But i get more damage back than i dish out at that range, usually lack ECM cover, and can do **** until the match is decided anyway and i do no more than some clean sweeping while i am to slow and to big
(I.E. I thought i could finish a DW that had only 1 Torso left at no armor yellow condition and it killed me in 4 seconds while my ~70+ damage where not enough to destroy its already damaged ST).

And Lights still may be able to mock IS-Mechs but facing a Clanner is pretty much an end to come soon if he is not seriously distracted or braindead.

I have still almost 50% wins but the inability to prticipate meaningful in the combat when it counts is dissatisfying and yeah, in 30 matches or so i got 1 time the 500k.

Its nice to give people some bonus for playing though it empowers even more the need to go big - or you go bust - if the bonus and the formula work the way they do.

I've only played Mediums. I'm in the top 100 even though half of best scores didn't count due to the team losing. The losses mostly seem due to Assaults who can't carry their weight. I'm talking DWs doing 50 damage and crap like that. (Who are these people and why are they ruining my tournament?)

Clan vs IS score do not mean much as we have mixed teams and learned to establish a parasitic relationship to our dear splinter faction.

that does not care, because the score of the tops are top players (+ a bunch of luck on these top players), and the wide mass is rather unimportant when it comes to top scorings. In the wide mass a random guy may make a single top score game, but reliantly make 200+ scores is unlikely. So the scores of the rankings show true top players. and that the top 15 clanlight palyers have not all aven broken the 2000 marks is seriosuly showing an issue. Thats why you hardly see clan lights out there, and if its nearly all the time a kitfox. They are bad mechs in their outcome or made for support in kit fox case. but with more clan ecm of wave 2 package, they may even get obsolete.

The Matchmaker Weightclass Status Gauge gives me all the time numbers of Lights and Mediums combined around <20% with the lowest Light population was 3% and the lowest Medium population 2% of the weightclass pool.

That speaks for itself.

Having never once broken 100 points in a match I think that the number for C-Bills is unattainable to all but the competitive players. I also think that contests like this really skew things in favor of the heavy and assault mechs. Looking at the percentages over the weekend I played a few rounds in my mediums and lights which had wait times in seconds. I think managing the rewards for points should be put on hold until the class warfare is added so that someone in a LCT has the same opportunity to get to the required points that someone in a VTR or Clan mech does. Overall an okay contest, I opted in but after playing a few decided I would have better luck for a good game after it ends.

I am not a tryhard, but just a passionate gamer in various games, and yet I hardly understand how people never achieve this. In my epic 3 man unit, we have two newbies as well and no matter what tips I give them they still seem not to make the regular games on a proper level. I hardly can understand why. And on top of that they are also like that in the other game we play. So I wonder what it is. generally a lack of situational awereness, relfexes, or simply mind speed to make a proper and fast decision? I would like to see them recoding their gameplay to analyse what they do wrong. that porbably may help.
