So black knight it is.

Oh? Then here are your words right back at you.

A weaksauce jumper is almost always better than an average walking robot, for obvious reasons.

And the Black Knight is far from good.

75 tonner with boated med lasers and some PPCs. Big standard engine. Elecronics.

Grasshopper is really just a fatter quickdraw. If they'd listed some other jump heavy, maybe, but the black knight is far superior to that.

This is why I said people need to take off their rose colored glasses. Grasshopper can also easily have PPCs + MLas config but it can use those weapons better than the BK thanks to JJs. You have not given any solid reasons as to why the BK is far superior. You only want it because Kong manufactured it.

And the Quickdraw actually sees serious matches, unlike many other humanoid IS heavies. JJs are that big of a deal, more so in the light of the upcoming JJ thrust buff.

In all seriousness though, I would like a Black Knight that quotes the Black Knight audibly when you lose limbs. Like a warhorn but less obnoxious and more hilarious.

"TIS BUT A FLESH WOUND" - (obviously in a giant robot voice)

And when it dies... "We'll call it a draw then."

I see BK as a nice brawly pulse boat with some speed, and good hitboxes. Could also be a PPC boat, or ERLL boat as well.

Grasshopper is a bigger QKD with a worthless missle hardpoint.

Just FYI, the QKD does not see serious matches, no one in their right mind would use that over a 55T mech in a tonnage restricted match unless they had to.

By your logic, Black Knight is just a bigger Grasshopper without jumpjets. Worthless mech.
Grasshopper can boat PPCs and ERLLs just as easily except it can use them much better. Especially in light of the upcoming JJ buff.

The biggest reason why the 70 ton CTF-3D is Tier 1 while 75 ton Orion (and all the other C-Bill Cataphracts) is Tier 4 is because of jump jets. 5 ton difference means crap in comparison.

The Grasshopper, particularly the 5N, will make a better brawler because it can zombie better. There is nothing interesting about the Black Knight, it does not even look that interesting.

Guys, you are struggling against people who like the picture of Black Knight, they don't give a damn to any reasons. Also, maybe some of them were playing MW4, where BK was given an expansion of the same name. Blame all the hype.
Yes, GHR kind of reminds QKD, but QKD is a great mech, agile and bity. Even without JJ it's a good brawler.

Take off those rose colored glasses and see the Black Knight for what it really is--a cousin to the AWS-8Q. An energy spamming mech should ideally have Jump Jets to help control where it fights, to pull off snapshots, and that means the Grasshopper is better choice.

Sorry op not taking back my vote for the Black Knight taken from Sarna :

During the Succession Wars many Black Knights fell into the hands of the Great Houses, although as the years progressed they were increasingly forced to repair them with inferior components and their numbers slowly decreased. Some were modified with a number of non-standard components such as jump jets

Wow look at that jump jets. Your whole topic is invalid.

If we look at the crux of this argument, we have two mechs that are basically the same.

Lots of lasers.

And yet we are saying one will be worthless, because the other has jump jets.

Doesn't that sort of indicate a major issue with jump jets in that case?

Actually, the orion has a whole bunch of other crippling problems, chief of which is that it has NO ADVANTAGES WHATSOEVER.

I guess you can put LRM100000000000 in the missile arm one, but that's it.

All the people claiming that the Grasshopper is a "Fat/Slow Quickraw" and "Based on Hardpoints, its going to be garbage." forget those three key points.

1) Hardpoints are NOT set in stone.
PGI has changed hardpoints to create diversity and improve viability for other Mechs before, so why not now?

2) Brace yourselves. Quirks are coming.
Even if PGI does nothing to the hardpoints(unlikely), we still have the new IS Quirk system which will show some love to Mechs that badly need it. Most likely, we will have BOTH a diversity of hardpoints between variants AND Quirks.

3)GIMME SOME AIR
Jump Jets for improved mobility

4) Oh my, what a savings!

Cost(according to Master Unit List):
Black Knight BL-6-KNT 7,136,938
Black Knight BL-7-KNT 6,594,438
Black Knight BL-7-KNT-L 6,426,438

Grasshopper GHR-5H 5,973,574
Grasshopper GHR-5J 6,152,074
Grasshopper GHR-5N 6,160,574

Now this won't matter to the high rollers, but not everyone is burning through stacks of c-bills everyday. So any savings means that more people can play those mechs sooner rather than later.

5) Do you even Zombie?

This is likely to be the case based on its textual evidence from Sarna.

I voted for the Grasshopper, I like it. I think a lot of players who were introduced to MechWarrior from MW4 are voting it up because the BK was like the TBR, it was pretty high up on the meta food chain. I think many of those players are voting for it out of nostalgia.

Having said that, the BK gets ECM in some models but they are beyond the current timeline so I don't expect PGI to put ECM on it initially.

I think some people from MW4 days remember that the BK had ECM and are hoping it has ECM here, and are voting for it because of that. And I'd agree with them, since the clans are going to have a ECM heavy, it would great if IS had one too, but will PGI gift us IS players with a ECM heavy?

I don't know.

(on edit, spelling error)
