Just remembered I also have a 1TB hard drive from when the office server got upgraded. Plus I think I have 16GB of ram I can use too. Edit: nope, it's 8GB

What does the Ghz of a processor mean? i.e. this Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor vs Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor

It's like the Processors horsepower...you want the most Ghz you can afford for MWO.

Check out Avatar computers, you can find them on Amazon for low prices and free shipping. Now and again they have pretty good sales I landed a build that runs most games on ultra including MWO for 600$ and my nephew got one for 400$ That does well with not much less capability. AMD 8 core 3.1ghz processor, 2g Nvidia graphics card, 8g Ram and 1 terabyte hard drive. No complaints so far it's been a workhorse!

That looks to be RAM, if it's high end stuff for over-clocking then it'll get pricey.

Bump up the max voltage in your search to 1.6, see what you get; Don't settle for DDR3-1600, and check for lower CASs', too.

Intel i5's (the go to cpu's for mwo and almost any other game) default to ddr3-1600, if you pair a non overclockable i5 with a non z chipset there's no point in getting anything faster as you can't set it to that speed anyway. ddr3-1600 cl8 is among the cheapest ram these days, I'd just go for some of that.

So is that the one that's already on my search? (I'm using the ~1000 one on the front page) I'm basically technically moronic so I'm not even going to think about overclocking, much less try it.

In that case I'd get an i5 without the K on the end. the 4460 seems most popular, 4590 is tiny bit faster and a tiny bit more expensive.

On intel cpu's running at stock the impact of different ram speeds is minimal, if you don't plan on overclocking I wouldn't even look at ram speed. And where I live the cheapest 2x4GB set is a crucial ballistix 1600 kit.

Thermal Paste if there to improve the contact patch between the heatsink and the CPU.

That model seems to be one of the best still on the market.
