I think PGI needs to use the result of the top scorers to determine if mechs need buffs or not.

Out of all the mechs, only 7 failed to have any pilot get over 2100 points.

Centurion, (2082) Commando, (2056) Dragon, (2082) Kitfox, (2083) Nova, (2048) Thunderbolt, (2074) Vindicator. (1977) The vindicator is particularly pathetic with a high of only 1977. The next lowest is the Nova at 2048.

Vindicator needs buffs. No disputing that. The Nova? I think we've already agreed it's a mech without purpose. The others need quirks badly. I personally play Kitfoxes, and find their lack of armor and speed makes them very high skill mechs. I can't see how someone would be able to get over 2000 points in it without dumping 20+ hours into the game this weekend. That's just unrealistic for most people. Perhaps that's why only 3 people have done it so far. I'll try tonight to push my score up from 1977. It'll take some crazy games to shift it above that mark. :(

It was fun. Certainly not something I would do many times, barely had time between work and socials; but was cool to thrive for something XD. Do not complain too much, its not like its every day you get mcredits for being in the top 10.

Yes, please, please complain much, so the Devs get the point that this was a poorly done event.

A few happy guys that missed the points we're all trying to make about this whole thing do not validate the entire experience.

Also, those same few people who enjoyed themselves would still enjoy themselves if the tourney was moved into its' own queue, or done differently. The rest of us, however, got to be miserable all weekend if we chose to log into our game of choice.

So please, do not try to invalidate our perfectly and extremely cogent points by stating that everything's fine because a few people enjoyed themselves, at the expense of what seems like a lot of us.

If PGI put up a poll, and made sure enough players saw it, and the poll proved that an overwhelming number of people enjoy these tourneys as is, I'll shut up, but until then, I'm going on the facts that I'm seeing more unhappy than happy with these types of events, whereas other styled challenges seem to garner a much warmer reception.

I actually gave up on the tourney last night. I hadn't been able to play much all weekend, and thought I would make up for it last night. I logged and started a match, and good grief, it was terrible. The amount of incompetence was mind boggling, I salute those who stuck it out to the end. I quit before I started shooting my own teammates, it's just too frustrating. I may see if there are some better players on tonight, but if not you can forget about it.

Why don't you ever host tournaments that span Monday - Friday? A good deal of your player base are 25+ and don't have time during weekends to compete. I'm currently ranked 29 on the Firestarter boards with only playing 5 hours total, but I would DEFINITELY be in the Top 10 if I could have actually played Saturday and Sunday.

Open these competitions up for EVERYONE please, not just people who have the luxury of weekend play.

That was the WHOLE point of the tournament, it's a quirk system check for them to make sure they buff the right mechs.

However rewarding things like kills doesn't help as 1 kill= 300 Dmg score wise, So you have guys in Embers with 4 MGs just waiting to blow that weak spot.

I mean SRMS stacked on a few quick mechs are quite ridiculous. Compassghost was on my team a few times running is 6x ASRM6 build with me doing a Summoner 5x SRM6 and we destroyed a whole team between the two of us didn't take many volleys when you're hitting for 102 Dmg every few seconds along with being mobile. I think he got 7 kills and I had 4 both well in to the upper hundreds with dmg.....In happy news from that should have see the DWs go boom!

I wonder why every thread on this forum is mostly people QQ'ing. Im pretty sure 12 of the guys complaining here has been on the same team one time. And everyone of those 12 complain about a bad team? Weird..

but you gotta remember, they're recording everything, so they get to see a lot more on scores and stuff overall from a whole gammut of different elo's etc. Hopefully the players gave them some good data.

Also I learned LRMs are what people think they need to go to for scores :P

Really wish there was some intelligence built in to MM (Or just let people "captain" that says I want this this this weps and MM goes and finds a guy with ECM, Narc, LRM boat etc. and you can keep dropping with those 12 RANDOM players if you like your team blah balh)

Often I wonder had I brought just a single LRM launcher if I could have gotten a few more assists out of timely tagging of folks safely at range.

Then again, that would have cost me some SRM ammo - and since I'm basically a face hugger I needed that more.

OK, I think the tournament scoring is broken. I pilot a Wolverine 7K and have been stuck at 1,437 for two days now. I've also noticed that no one in my chassis bracket is advancing either, with the current leader stuck at 2,195.

So what's going on here?

I see a LOT of whining in this thread. I placed 10th in Cataphracts and was batting like .800 in winning percentage the whole weekend. All I did at the start of the match was tell people to stay close to their big boy lance. We completely rolled people and yes I was carrying with 4-5 kills per match.

Maybe you guys are all just really pathetic players who are getting placed with equally pathetic players and that is why your perspective is skewed. I was definitely playing in amazing match after match where people were communicating and working together.

I suggest players like Kodyn stop posting forever. All you do is announce how bad you are at this game. All the other idiots marveling at incompetence... where did you place? If everyone sucked then you must have done really well!

Pathetic. You really make us freebirths look bad.

To compete in this format you MUST win, have 3-5 kills minimum and a total of 12 kills and assists for all ten matches AND over 800 damage. Why? Cuz the top 10 guys WILL have that. If you aren't doing 800-1000 damage per victory and hitting double digit kills+assists then you shouldn't even be posting here.

Math.

I thought about strapping some LRM's on my Wolvie 7k, even saved the loadout. But I couldn't bring myself to launch with it, I had to go back to SRM's. That mech just needs 'em.

Are you mentally competent? If you were in top 10 all weekend, you would have seen that up until late last night, I was within the top 10 or 12 all weekend. I'm not saying, nor have I ever said that I'm a great player. I am however a competent player, and I can back that up with match performances.

I lost nothing by not placing in the tournament, which I willingly gave up on, out of boredom, that's never been my complaint. It's not hard to do well in these tournaments, either, I never said that. My whole point was that the scoring system is really bad, which apparently even Russ sees because he said they're done with it, and mixing pugglefish with competitive players is bad for both.

Now both of my major points, many people have agreed with, and re-posted similar opinions both here and on other threads, so I'm not some solitary whiner who just isn't happy about anything, and in fact love this game.

It's simply that I, along with many others, noticed a real issue with how the tourney points worked, and the way it was causing many pugs to act. This was not a manufactured issue, I do not lurk in the forums waiting for drama to surface, this was observations of actual facts.

Now obviously you're one of those special people who only considers themselves, and how something effects them, and no one else, and therefore can't even be asked to comprehend anything I just said, or anything that's been discussed in this thread. that's fine, you do you, and the rest of us will continue to think beyond our own little worlds.

Btw, it's really sad and revealing when you use perceived game skill levels(which you're even incorrect about) to judge someone. Speaks volumes about how you think about/treat people in real life, and really makes you look like the loser, not the person you're attempting to attack.
