From the mechs i have some knowledge about:

BJ-A: Stange really... 6 Ballistic Hardpoints, but a buff to the AC/20.
BJ-1: What? This one should have the AC/20 buffs. AC/2 is for grounded DPS mechs not fragile JJ mechs
BJ-1DC: To utilize the BJ-1DC's quirks there is exactly 1 build possible. All possible variations killed.
CN9-A: Perfect!
CN9-AH: Perfect!
CN9-D: What? seriously? Change from SRM4 to 6 plz. The A does the SRM4 better, this one needs the SRM6. LB 10-X AC don't know... AC/2 or 5 would have been better imo...
CN9-YLW: Perfect!
CDA-2A: Awesome!
CDA-3M: *evil grin* Awesome!
FS9-A: Yeah why not... After the changes to SPL might be viable.
FS9-H: Perfect!
FS9-K: Will have to leave my 6xML pseudo JR-F at home and try this.
FS9-S: What? Who runs LL on FS9? LL Quirks are for Panthers... How about AMS buffs?
GRF-1N: Guess i will stop using it as medium LRM Platform. But looks good.
GRF-3M: Guess i will shift the 3xSRM6+A to the 1N. Looks good as well.
GRF-Sparky: Looks good
LCT-1E: Perfect
LCT-3M: Perfect (once the changes to SPL are in)
RVN-3L: Looks good! Pushes the medium laser build a bit more than the dual LL.
SHD-2D: I thought all SHD are tier 2, so there should be 1 buff?
SHD-2D2: I'd rather use the TBT-LG as SSRM boat, but won't harm me
SHD-2H: Would have liked to see an AC/2 buff. I'll not be able to use all the Ballistic Hardpoints with AC/5s.
SHD-2K: Perfect!
SHD-5M: tier 1? This one could use the AC/5 quirks from the 2H.
SDR-5K: Good
SDR-5D: Perfect!
TBT-LG: Would have preferred SSRM2, but i guess SRM4 is more popular. So fine by me.

Summery:
All in all it looks good for most of the Mechs i'm running, where i have decent knowledge of.

There are some quirks i raise to question:
  • Give the BJ-A quirks to the BJ-1. The CT energy hardpoint of the BJ-A is wasted with a AC/20 build which has to use XL engines anyway. Also the BJ-1(C) comes with the AC/20... I know that the BJ-A is slightly better for the AC/20, 3xML build but with 6 ballistic slots it is made for MGs coupled with STD engines. I still believe the stock build for the BJ-A is using the hardpoint layout perfectly. Also i don't buy into this AC/2 build, since this mech is awfully fragile and AC/2 require constant exposure, so the BJ-1 won't be able to use it's JJ to great effect. And finally the AC/20 build should be available to the public, not us hero buyers only. AC/2, AC/5 are better suited for the 1DC which needs dps (not having JJ and all).
  • AC/5 quirks push the 1DC into a single viable build, being 2xAC/5 with 5t AMMO. General Autocannon Cooldown quirks would help it a lot, since ppl can choose between AC/2 or AC/5.
  • The CN9-D is about 2xSRM6 + M(P)L with either a STD engine or XL engine and AC/2. Since the CN9-A already has SRM4 buffs (and rightly so) there is absolutely no point in giving the D variant the same buff. Also there is no good build with LBX + SRM4 where you don't have to either drop ML, Artemis or Ammo. So SRM6 & AC/2 (or 5) buffs please. Or how about SRM6+GeneralACBuffs? We are talking about the weakest CN9 anyways...
  • I'd rather see LL and PPC buffs on Panthers than on Firestarters. If someone wants to go dual AMS+LL on a light, the PNT-10K will be the perfect mech for that. Medium Laser Cooldown/Duration would be better suited for the FS9-S.
  • The Shadowhawk's high mounted ballistic is just to good to use this mech as SSRM platform. I'd rather you push the SSRM2 build for the TBT-LG since this mech is better suited as light hunter than the SHD-2D2 which needs to use 4.5 of it's extra 5 tonnage on the engine to achieve the same speed as the LG with an XL 325.
  • Why no quirks for the SHD-5M and 2D? Are they really tier 1? We are still talking about a medium mech. 5M would be the perfect choice for AC/5 quirks. 2D could be gauss?
  • SHD-2H needs AC/2 quirks not AC/5. 3 Ballistic hardpoints make it the perfect choice for AC/2s.
  • While i have no complaints about the Griffin quirks, since they suit my playstyle i really think that these quirks miss the original purpose of the Griffins. I suggest giving the GRF-1N general LRM buffs. The 1S general PPC buffs and the 3M general SRM buffs. This would give the GRF distinct roles and 2 out of 3 variants would still be used as long range support, which is the original purpose of this mech.

I love the Vindicator 1AA quirks. I play this mech all the time as it is, but it's going to be even better.

Overall, pleased with the quirks in general.

Cannot understand why the Firebrand gets PPC quirks and the K2 does not.

Poor Battlemasters and their nerfs. They don't need them.

Not entirely happy with some of the mediums which got SRM quirks when they mount LRMs stock ... Griffin 1N, Cents. Yes, people use them for that, but generic missile quirks would serve them better.

Overall, I think I much prefer 'mechs to get more generic quirks (energy, ballistic,missile) and fewer specific weapon quirks. On some 'mechs, like the Hunchback 4G, it makes good sense. On others, it really doesn't. Not everyone runs the meta build or follows the stock setup. I'd also very much like 'LRM' an 'SRM' quirks to apply to all launchers of that type - making it a specific SRM or LRM places too much emphasis on using the 'right' launcher.

those cataphrac Illya Muromet are so bad .......

we all know that the only viable build with it is 3 Uac5/ac5 + med laser

so what are the quirks? AC10 buff + huge lasers buff when the IM is just a bad laser mech
also the 1X already got a AC10 buff so why give it also to the IM, more of that 2 ac 10 builds aren't viable so the 2 mechs are more or less the same : 1AC 10 + med lasers spam, woot

I agree that the Centurion and Griffin should have been different quirks. The Centurion-A doesn't need to cater to the Zombie mech loadout of SRM-4s and medium lasers with no gun.

That was back when the hitbox for the Centurion made it tough as nails. That isn't the case anymore, so perhaps it is time to recognize that the Centurion ought to have autocannon and LRM-10 quirks instead of medium laser and SRM-4 ones.

Browsing through all the quirks. Some are very nice, some don't make any sense at all and don't make the mech variant any more viable than before.

I for one will shift to all the mech variants who got Heat Gen quirks. I don't need any cool down quirk if it is not combined with improved heat management. So, Heat Gen quirks are much more valuable than the rest. Ballistic range? Velocity? Who cares?

I am especially disappointed with the Arrow quirks. AC/20, no energy weapon quirks? Huh?!?!?
My BJ-1(C) will be very sad, no AC/20 quirk.

But overall, thanks you PGI to take the time and effort to add the new quirks. Very much appreciated!

My very best mech, My Battlemaster 1G is going to be godly.

14 extra armor on each of my side torsos to protect my XL - Check
My 6 MLs go up to 297m range range - Check
My PPC goes up to 604m range - Check
My 6 MLs now will have a 0.9 burn time - Check
My 6 MLs will now generate between 10-20% less heat (depending on if quirks stack) - Check
My PPC will now generate 10% less heat - Check

Toss on a ML range and cooldown module and I am probably looking at almost 330m range and 0.8 second cool down on those puppies. Nice.

Should be a hell of an improvement to what is already my top performing mech.

Personally, I do not think these quirks are the right path. Instead , they should have just come out with different manufacturers for the weapons themselves. Each weapon has a bonus depending on what they want.

Throwing all this craps on each 'mech is going to confuse the player base. With the manufacturer s weapon system, you can tailor your own quirks into your choosen 'mech.

Like make the Fork Large Pulse Laser generate 5% less heat. The ComStar version has +50 meters range. The lyran has 5% less cool down.



Because, you know they will put into the game in a scrappy hard to understand way.

Or it is helping to bring IS mechs up to Clan mech levels of goodness.

Probably not, but at least we can now see specialists, even if I re-bought my Centurion-D so I could put in an AC-10 instead of the rapid fire LB-10x.

Disagree, to boot, the 733 has Jump Jets to get to areas those two cannot. Also, the 733 can support 4 LRM 15s easily and have the ammo to support it. The owe two do not have that.

Maybe, but I think the way they are doing this may promote some mech chassis to return back to a nearly stock loadout.

However, some quirks have nothing to do with a stock mech, such as the Centurions who get SRM-4 buffs when it is supposed to have an LRM-10.

Yes, quirks stack. Love my BLR-1G(P) as it is, going to love it even more now. Still wish they got rid of the torso nerfs.
also, its 14 armor on each arm.
