Honestly, I don't really see what the hub-bub is about regarding the unseen. These designs originated in a cartoon in a totally different universe/storyline and did not have anything to do with BT at all, not even the names were the same. Their likenesses were picked up by BT, and granted, some of them, like the warhammer, marauder, and battlemaster are aesthetically very attractive 'mechs that "fit" into the BT universe quite well.

But lets be real, there's real life lawsuits over these images and I'm perfectly okay with keeping this game free to use the 'mechs already available rather than have PG spend money to try to get licenses for these images.

Yes the Marauder is one of the unseen.

Stinger
Wasp
Valkyrie
Phoenix Hawk
Crusader
Falcon
Firebee
Hornet
Ostroc
Ostol
Ostscout
Behemoth
Archer
Warhammer
Rifleman
Longbow
Marauder
Shadow Hawk
Griffin
Scorpion
Wolverine
Thunderbolt
Goliath
Battlemaster

Most of what I think of as battlemechs from when I played back in the day are on this list.

Its mainly because they are the mechs that launched the game. http://en.wikipedia....h#Original_game

What Belorion said. I have fond memories of much wasted youth and that damn game. Starfleet battles as well. (and i mean the board game)

I actually just dug through my garage looking for the Box sets I had. I thought I had the original game, but finding what I had made me remember that my friend had the main box set, so I bought Citytech, and Battletech: Reinforcements. Still good times.

9 out of 12 Mechs in Citytech are unseen.

I understand a lot of people would love to see the Unseen.
However, I don't agree with making them only available to people who pay for them.
That would instantly turn the game into 'pay to win' (ignoring for a moment whether or not the Unseen are actually 'stronger' than other 'mechs).

/rant

Really???? Really???

Pay to win??

I feel people don't even know what that means anymore. They just throw it around anytime somebody might ask them to pay for something.

If you can build the exact same mech using another chassis. . . how the **** is it 'pay to win' to pay to use a different chassis for the same mech.

That is a strictly cosmetic improvement.

As somebody who *IS* going to support this game. . . the game hasn't even launched yet and I'm already tired of 'welfare warriors' complaining about it when I pay my money to allow them to play for free!!! ***?!?!

/endrant

Edit: This really should have been in all caps.

I must have missed that. Do you (or anyone reading this) happen to have a link to where the developer's said that?

It's my understanding that the Unseen mechs have given the BattleTech franchise legal trouble time and time again.

Yeah sure, here it is...

Oh Yeah, Harmony Gold

Contrary to all the press and speculation that Harmony Gold was getting in the way of a deal or development, this had no impact whatsoever on development or signing a deal for MechWarrior.

If anything, cover the costs of bringing the Unseen into the game with profit made by all microtransactions combined.
They were not Stronger persay, but to those of us who cut our teeth on 3025... They are so much a part of BattleTech it would be like one day MechWarriors being told, "Sorry, no more Timberwolf, Dire Wolf, Nova, or any other original Clan Omni! Now how well would that go over???

For a Warhammer, not a dime. It's good, but completely overhyped.

As for Premium Unseen, there are a few I'd shell out for, Thunderbolt and Crusader instantly come to mind, I love those tin-beasties.

Probably won't see that unless\untill they add Melee combat (other than Charging / Death From Above).

Favorite mechs because I played them in the original MW:
1) Locust
2) Warhammer
3) Marauder
4) Battlemaster.

There should be no extra cost for these mechs, they are just different designs in the appropraite weight catagory.

Drop teh 6 pack, MGs and small lasers add sinks and armor... Then the hammer becomes a war machine! Never liked the Tbolt aesthetically, and loved the Crusader's look but not its heat curve.

Theres no option to sell my soul to get the Warhammer, i just have to have one.
My soul or 30$

Or the Rifleman with rotary ACs, Battlemaster & Marauder are OK.
