CGR-1A1 Charger

80t with 5 Small Lasers... 5/8 movement is not helping there...

The basic Charger is pretty bad, though I suppose if the Lyrans ran out of Atlas mechs for scouting they would be pleased to use this 80ton "scout".

Light- Falcon...what is its role...to hunt down wasps and stingers...good use of a 30ton mech....
Med- Assassin...such a great name for such a crappy mech
Hvy- Bombardier....take a great concept with the Archer and ruin it by making it completely ammo dependent
Assault- Charger....even the upgrade doesn't make the mech excel in any specfic field(now the Capellan Confederation had the best idea for this mech and dropped its speed and gave it 2 srm 6's, AC 20 and 1 med laser)

My vote is going with the Urbanmech... Firstarter after that and maybe the charger is even worse than those two simply for being such a waist of space.

Outside of the usual (protomechs, chargers, and so on) I think the Dart is a terrible design.
http://www.sarna.net...art_(BattleMech)

It has good speed, but is not able to take any sort of hard hit. This would be less of an issue if it could hit targets BEYOND 3 HEXES and deal 10 points of damage!

People who don't like the Charger don't know how to charge.

I'm going with the Black Hawk "Nova." Not because it's actually bad, but because it's f*cking stupid looking.

Dude the Blawk Hawk is awesome, this Mech is all about keeping a low profile. Just try fighting this Mech in a limited sight environment like a rain forest or a heavily boulder-ed canyon. You'll constantly loose sight of it, only to have it pop up with it's jump jets to slag your armor, before disappearing again.

I chime in with the Charger. To which I would also add the Clan Gargoyle[Man o' War]. Too big of engine, robs the 'mech of any useful tonnage. If you are actually charged by a Charger, you are doing something wrong.

Flea from MW4/Mercs. It was annoying, and had the firepower of an infantry team.

Oh I know how it's used and it's designed well for it, but I still think it's just really bloody ugly. Every mech has a purpose (INCLUDING BOTH THE CHARGER AND THE URBIE), and if you know how to exploit it well then it's a good mech.

Yes, because an 80 km/h charge from an 80 ton mech is laughable. The Charger (much like the Banshee) is a brawler mech in that it's designed to get up close and beat the living crap out enemy scouts with physicals.

As for the Urbie, it's designed to hide behind/in buildings and wait for the enemy to get to it. Look into the Tabletop's rules on hidden units if you want to see why the Urbanmech is so deadly. An AC/20 at a 4 to-hit roll is a terrible thing no matter what mech you're driving.

Im gonna chime in nd say I bloody HATE the Champion. Its pretty dooofy looking, pretty poor weapon selection stock, and as far as the fluff goes, they actually built a mech that can't move its arms. Why?

Heh, you're right every mech has a use, but too bad the Chargers use is 'target practice', I'm sure Liao has leant that one a few times. lol

Oh, and your ugly is my awesome sauce.
I loved playing one and for whatever reason I love it's look.
