Sorry what? I can not hear you, my warhorn was going off...
personally I would like to hear these boom across the whole map. Great psychological warfare. Sadly we preordered clan packs and got warhorns that we not really clan related and can be equiped is p.o.s. IS mechs. What a shame.

I do love them though. Crank up the volume and distance

Well there is a way to "turn off" hearing warhorns.

It is called not dying.

But then you'd also have to prevent any of your teammates from getting a kill or getting killed...basically make all 24 mechs in a match play Barbie dress up or something instead of fighting.

Would that not be a fantastic skill to master?

I for one welcome our new Hello Kitty Island Adventure overlords.

But hey, I guess that would be useful for dealing with those situations when you see the enemy team's composition and instinctively know it's gonna be ggclose...

Fup is correct here; I'm not about to stop the Wub.

Or make it realistic and have the sound fade based on distance from the killing mech.

I'm still working on the science of how something mounted inside the cockpit can blast sound that's heard outside and not destroy the pilot's eardrums...

There are also horns on the outside, just not visible from the cockpit, and the in-cockpit horns play at a lower volume?

That did not even require science.

That might be the stupidest reason for quitting I've ever heard.

Well it's a GREAT reason to quit, if you want a warhorn so bad just to piss on people please gtfo and get a life where you you are not so sad and angry all the time.

I think you fantastically overestimate things.

Consider briefly that people do not make themselves look good to make you feel bad or shame you.

Imagine briefly that they make themselves look good for the purposes of making themselves look good.

OP was pretty clear about this.

I paid money to preorder a clan package for the warhorn to annoy people with it. I have a friend who bought the Heavy Metal simply because the sound effects were annoying. One of the reasons he quit the game was because they reduced the radius it's warhorn could be heard.

Yup guess what, it takes effort to be good. Effort a lot of people don't put into the game. Then they whine when someone with a warhorn that goes wub wub wubs kills them.

Based on the reaction of people, it looks like hearing a war horn is very much like someone rubbing salt on their wounds.

PGI, can we have a war horn sale? Better yet, can we have more? :D

Can we get an in game item; an atlas on a stand with you voice - when you get affected by the right criteria in game, it pulls out a famous qoute.. ..something about the awfulness of ECM or the mech is P2W etc etc. :P

I would pay for a warhorn that blares 'FOR BALANCE CORERULE IGNORE' in a heavy Eastern European Accent.

Warhorns are annoying and break in game immersion, only the person fielding it should hear it really.

Bunch of effing cry babies got it nerfed because they didn't want to hear it.

The Heavy Metal was around long long long before the horns came out, and it was EPIC. Half the reason I loved the HM was because of the Riff, not to mention the good HP layout. Now...its just pointless to have any of the horns at all, a bunch of butt hurt players bitched so hard because they either didn't get them, or just flat out wanted to degrade the players who did.

They should revert or at least go to 400m, so during a brawl, at least the person getting killed hears it. Hell half the time once I did kill someone in the HM, I was target priority number 1 cuz I was making noise! Its a DEAD giveaway to your location, ever think of that idiots? Didn't think so.

I think people just say "breaks immersion" because they've heard that phrase before and know it means "bad" without really knowing what it actually means.

False. He was implying that his opinion of war horns was fact. Looking at the responses on this thread, I'd say he's obviously wrong.

Seeing disco balls, fuzzy dice, Christmas lights, monkeys banging symbols, coffee mugs, flags of countries that don't exist in the BT universe, hula girls and coffee mugs in the cockpits of mechs that you are spectating doesn't feel very simulator-esque either. Why aren't you complaining about them?

Because I don't have to have them in my cockpit, and I don't.

I have no problem with Warhorns being heard by the owner of them, but I don't think it's that difficult for anyone to understand that I don't want to have to listen to them either (whether they're for friendly or enemy players).

Why is it so difficult for people to understand that the game is played by a lot of different people with different opinions on what it should be.

Whether or not I hear a warhorn is generally not going to be known by another player, so if I think they're stupid, and they think they're great, then it's not even a compromise in letting players that like the things hear them, and players that don't ignore them.

I find it hilarious that the vast majority of people I play against, who are the same people in leagues, house of Lords, swk sjr etc all use Warhorns. I see players not in those units using them as well. Then I see people I only see on the forum complaining how they break immersion and that no one wants them. If this is the case why is it that the vast majority of mechs I run into have them equipped?

I started this thread semi seriously. Yes I want to see the radius of the warhorn increased, yes I had a friend buy a heavy metal because he thought it was funny. It literally served no real purpose in the game as the 733c and dragon slayer were superior mechs. All the changes to the game happened and he dropped it. When he came back and saw the radius the heavy metals horn had he was quite pissed and left again. This is a case of changing a product after it was delivered.

I find it hilarious this has devolved into people claiming it breaks immersion etc without giving an alternate solution such as possibly making a toggle for the warhorn sound. If immersion is truly an issue this is the only way to solve the problem as any warhorn is likely highly unrealistic.

Unlike a lot of popular games rampages and killing sprees are not announced to a milder? audience.

I find it hilarious that you are using spurious anecdotal evidence to support your argument when your OP in support of warhorns has a meagre 8 likes and Vassago's reply saying they are "annoying" and "a terrible idea" has 43 and counting......

But do carry on flogging that dead horse.

Maybe you could play it your warhorn.

(Within 35 meters of course)
