SlamAu,
Not sure 1 MG is worth it. I ran same build with AMS/1/2. Ton ammo and AMS module for increase burst. Really good against ALL missiles and adds that little bit of defense. I still over heated though with My Crazy!!!!!! LOL!

Tonnage is at a premium in the PB, I can't imagine having an AMS and ammo take up room for weapons. I am running the mech stock and am having fun. Your teammates love you, too bad MWO does not give CB for protecting your team inside your ECM bubble, the PB would rack up points.

I loved jenners until I found the locusts. Spiders are another good one. When pb came out I was in love instantly. I've not tried the other lights. I'm thinking a raven 3l will be next. Lights rule.

The 3L is a solid chassis, however be warned, she isn't as scrappy as the Jenners, Firestarters or Locust chassis. You can take the ECM sniping path which requires target disciple and actually being able to aim. Or you have the striker path, which is the old 3 ML and choice of SRMs/SSRMs and gives you a nice ambush/ hit and run potential.

My playstyle in my 3L is very different then how I pilot my PB and Huginn. I also sport a non-traditional load out too though leaning more to support and flanking. I ran 2 MLs, 2 SRM2s and a TAG w/ ECM. I'll scout, spot when I can, then return to the fatties for ECM support. I leave the real harassing to the Firestarters , Jenners., and Locusts.

I love the PB. Going 170 KPH is a lot of fun. Actually being useful with an ECM is a real perk. I just want the Hill Climb module and falling module to get even more performance out of it. I've been trying to go all game without slowing down. My survival rate climbed but I think my damage took a hit.

I suppose I need to learn how to circle assaults because getting behind them is easy. I've ended up last-man-standing a few times and it's funny to watch them trying to catch up or figure out where you are. Of course after this ride, an assault mech feels incredibly slow.

You have a reasonable selection of weapons. I like 4 Medium Lasers. It's a little hot but you hide a lot. I want to see this machine gun bug. I don't like ammo in lights. MG for 1.5 tons feels like wasted space. You can also eat a heat sink and play sniper with a Large Laser. It's much slower damage but if that's your style.

Thanks to the B33F for pointing out that Locusts can get underwater. That's frustrating for the enemy!

I painted mine orange and called it The Pumpkin!

Went with 4ML, ECM, & BAP with 3 DHS and a 180 XL. Can't bring myself to use machine guns or AMS on this mech.

Indeed, though as a word of warning I wouldn't try that with a standard locust. They're going to get a target lock on you even if they can't physically "see" you. Also, if you do this in a PB, stop shooting when they look at you or you're going to get artilleried and die horribly while on fire.

Honestly, and I'm not trying to boast or anything, just saying, I fricking love this thing, and I started with a Jenner, loving that. But I run 4 ML's on it and the first 5-6 rounds I've played with it I've averaged around 300 damage per round. I just use it as a peaking machine, peak, shoot, wait till my target loses interest in me, peak, shoot, repeat...as long as you are careful you will do just fine. I hardly get locked like I did in my Jenner, and with an advanced range and cool down module for the ML's, and advanced zoom, I can pinpoint alphas from a decent distance with some pretty decent damage.

Just my thoughts, but I love this lil guy...being small has it's advantages, I love watching ppcs fly past my head and miss...lol

One round I had two kills, working on more but I overheated in my "peak" instead of "hide" and got insta killed...(was the end of a round)...I only bought this last night, but I can't wait to try some more stuff with it...

I agree about the Machine guns, I was starting to get a headache but thought I was just being a vagina about it...I didn't know everyone else thought the same thing lol.

Also, with the CBILL bonus, I get about 200,000 to 250,000 cbills a round, which is more than I get with my Jagermech usually. lol

I wish they changed the SL quirks to something more useful like MLs. Heck, I'll even take SPLs. SL, even with quirks is in such a sad state that even at 0.5 tons it's not worth it. If you bring heavier lasers, then you have to start sacrificing your MGs while running hot. This 'Mech is a builder's hell.

You're right, it does run hot for sure.

I'm running 2MPL, 2SL, and it's ok. Comes out kind of similar to a COM1B with 3MPL in terms of damage, though not heat and range.

still running 4 smalls & MG's
..oh, and I added sml range, and sml cool down
all those slots, I may have to add hill climb and fall damage or whatever its called
I tried 4ML's...really, really wanted them to work, but too hot hot hot
I'd sell the energy quirks this gets, for a 'get rid of 3 heat sinks' quirk.
those are a serious anchor around its neck we currently have. 9 slots, 3 tons could go hella way to all sort of goodness

ohhh, this looks interesting.
A bit thin on the back armor, but otherwise, looks good!

I've crammed the PB with ECM + PPC or AC2 for a LOLz micro sniper (if you are comfortable with 2.5 tons of armor), but I've been having good luck with full armor, a 170XL, large laser, med laser and ECM.

Freaking love this Locust.

The muzzleflash issue just makes me say no to machineguns, and that makes me sad.

P.S. - equipping the AC2 into the CT pops the location of the gun from the nose to above the cockpit - like a mini, armless Marauder - it's just so cool looking!

I've finished my Pirate Bane skill tree and now I'm running; Hill Climb, Shock Absorbance and Advanced Zoom.

Shock and Hill let me play at full speed with slightly less worry, which is nice. Becoming dependent on it, I've died a few times trying to wall climb in the canyons. Advanced Zoom is what the Targeting Computer should be doing!!!

I'm running the 4x med laser and I'm getting 300 damage on good games. The trouble is every time you slow down, you just wait for the kill animation from a gause slug. I have found you -can- run right through the enemy lines. With the ECM you are very hard to hit with Streaks and LRMS and everyone is scrambling to shoot, while surprised, without hitting allies. However, get stopped and, well, you are stopped for good usually. But it surprises the heck out of them!!! You might be able to do it twice, I've seen spiders do it but often they get high on the rush and stick around and die.

I'm having a hard time accepting 4 mlas... Not that it doesn't work, I elited the 3M with 4 mlas and 2 ams, and it could be a little killing machine on occasion.

Well, I guess I'm off to give it a try!
