How about Russ Bullock speaking about turret drops?

https://twitter.com/...121833934213120

You know what happens when the queue gets stacked like that?

Attackers wait for 20-30 minutes, then get a real match... because matchmaker will only hold one attacking group in queue at a time. That means that when you see 60 on one side and 34 on the other, you've got 24 from each side fighting, 12 on the attacking side locked into a match waiting for opponents, and 24+ on the attacking side watching the clock count UP with a lobby full of "PILOT RECEIVING ORDERS."

Facts are a bit awkward, huh?

Facts? Lets walk through the facts, shall we?

Let me see if I get the math right here... Typical situation when its 60+ vs. 34, which has been typical lately:

Pretty much instant drop for 24 defenders, 8 sit waiting in lobby... can ignore those 8, they don't get to do anything... for the other 24 defenders, they go into 2 matches... so 1 min count down in lobby, 1 min in dropship, and lets say 28 min game, makes 30 min (nice round numbers)

For attackers, 24 get instant drop and the other 36+ sit in lobby... 12 of those get queued to attack and wait 10 min in lobby for defenders before dropping, and as soon as they drop, the next 12 are queued up...

So in the time that the two 12v12 matches are going on (30 min or so), you get 3 ghost drops (one every 10 min)...

Which means, even if Liao wins every match, they still lose to ghost drops...

Facts?

Liao regularly maintains at least 40 defenders during prime time, and those defenders don't all show up at once, they trickle in.

So we really don't get turret-wins very often.

I'll be the first to admit that there was one - ONE - planet taken that was decided by a turret win at the end, and it was a planet that we took from Marik.

The other 20 planets that we've taken, however, those have been decided by greater margins.

... I think Steiner might've taken one planet on a last-minute autowin, too. But again, one planet.

Ok first things first no twelve man groups are waiting longer than 10 minutes, look at the patch notes, it clearly states that a group will wait 10 mins then ghost drop. It also states that this is basically a quick fix because of the time constraints due to their holiday schedule.

Now here is what actually happens. Davion floods the queue to 60+ with like two hours to go on Liao, part of this reason is because the other IS faction planets are usually dominated by this point, trust me I have checked and usually they are holding at 85% controlling on the other two borders by this point. Davion now has 60+ in queue to attack, say for StillRadioactive's case we have 40. On most cases 2 groups are WoL, 1 group is either another unit and/or solo queue people, that leaves 6 people. The three groups get in, the other two groups get their 10 minute countdown. Now if six more people for Liao show up then that fourth group will get the match, but if not the fourth and fifth group ghost drop. That fifth group is not waiting 20 mins, they are only waiting 10.

If you are defending, and win the match you basically prevent the percentage from going up. You do not contribute to the percentage going down at all. The only way the percentage goes down is if Liao is counter attacking/attacking and that is determined by who is in the queue first. So by the setup that currently stands, if the Liao units respond to the influx of Davions flooding the queue they are defending, which means that the best they can do is win to negate an increase in the percentage. Meanwhile two groups ghost drop in that time in and get the two auto wins, which takes maximum time of three minutes, then they go back out and and can requeue and wait another 10 mins or if another Liao team is formed. This is what actually happens.

Now one solution to this is to make a successful defense decrease a win on that planet, that way if the attackers did not win, the defenders actually won a percentage of the planet back, which in turn would mean a ghost drop got nullified as well. On attack or defense a part of the planet would be changed, not one sided as it currently stands.

I explained how matchmaker handles population imbalance here:

http://mwomercs.com/...ing-peak-hours/

There are two separate queues, the ACTUAL queue (where you wait ten minutes then get dropped for an auto-win) and the pre-queue (which I referred to as "in limbo," where you wait for your turn in the ACTUAL queue).

There is no time limit on the pre-queue.

Davion players, even in full twelve-mans, are waiting in the pre-queue for a very, very long time... and they're getting actual matches after 2-3 minutes of ACTUAL queue time.

Crud?

Fair enough you are entitled to your opinion but apart from the RP (poor or not) at worst what I have written was meant as tongue in cheek (I come from a generation and culture that if we want to insult you, we just come out and do it.) In fact I stuck up for one of the units fighting for Liao.

However, since this Merc (on contract to Davion at the minute) is unwanted I will move on. Don't quote or reply if you don't want a response, Zai Jian.

How long are we talking about 15 mins in pre queue? 2 hours? What do you consider a long time. And if that is the case why are not more people abandoning that for short queue times ?

I'm sorry, but Liao, you only have one border to fight on, you should have no trouble w/ queue times.

Just sayin...

If ~MS~ decides to attack Liao planets again, I will make sure to post screenshots of our victories over the groups in question so there can be no doubt the number of losses they are suffering. Turret wins indeed. How is it every faction we attack tells us that none of their units are suffering losses?

I am in no way saying Liao is winning every match. But you also have to remember a defense win does not constitute a change in the planets percentage, it only prevents it from getting worse. So as long as the Davions queue up more people first, it puts Liao on defense, which mean even with a win there is no change. Now if a defense win actually changed the status then it would level out the playing field a little more.

We do not have queue time issues at all. The point is that davion floods the queue and there is not enough population on Liao to deal with it.

You're telling me that between the Goonswarm and the rest of House Liao, you are unable to field 96 players during primetime? (that's all it requires to prevent turret wins on a planet you're defending) and 180 players to lock down every zone on a planet in combat.

Regardless of how many players are in the queue, and they could have hundreds thrown against a planet, only 180 are going to be active at any given moment.

we currently do not have 96 players online during the peak hours of cw.

also we have had some players get a bit burnt out after winning every match of cw for the night and seeing the planet still fall. also stockings and holiday.
also alot of liao are russian and cf times do not currently meet their schedule.
lastly its a beta and none of it really means anything except for the fun of playing the new game modes.

but you already know most of this stuff ;)

Shouldn't Mariks be worrying about their own border with the Davion rather than Liao's ?
http://mwomercs.com/...-cw-time-lapse/
(From what I see you have losing planets to them as well as Kurita.)

Can't find people to defend your borders too ?

Yes, yes you are. Making good progress. Sneaky Capellans. Might actually pull a win over the holidays - props on the numbers showing up. In the end not a terrible idea for the alliance of yours; it'll pull a lot of attention off Marik as folks stack to grind Liao until they feel that retribution is well paid. Will take a lot of heat off Marik that's for sure.

This is accurate, between Goonswarm and everyone else, 96 players are not on during prime time from Liao.

We don't have a council, we have a strategy. "Attack enemies, do not attack allies."

Right now allies include the Free Worlds League, and in theory the Draconis Combine, sorta.

Pretty much: Fight Davion -> Win -> Lose planet anyway.

Edit: Welcome Aboard! :P
