Yeah, I don't visit the HBS forums that often, but where was the Flea confirmed?

It's not the flea mech will be announced early next week.

Maybe there was this concern before the introduction of MASC in the game, but as it was implemented [limited], the Flea with MASC active would be actually slower than a maxed Death's Knell.

Russ showed his rejection for the Flea some times in the past. The concept art was done yes, and there is a 3d model by a 3rd party, but nothing indicates the mech was coded/animated/textured or even modeled by PGI.

I believe the Flea, as a perfect surrogate for the iconic Locust, was planned before PGI decided to bite the bullet and release the first Unseen mechs (Project Phoenix). With the Locust released, there is no more meaning for the Flea.

Come on, who would release the Flea instead of the most common mech in the universe, a mech so tight-up with the Macross heritage, one of the most classic mechs of the IP, the Wasp?

I never cared for the Flea in MWO. This is a mech insignificant in terms of lore that would only be a bad Locust in this game. With the effort to make it look like the Locust (as the JagerMech was made like the Rifleman), it actually looks worst that the MW4 version. Ugly, insignificant, dispensable.

Thing is i like the classical paper tissue armored flea sporting a large laser in CBT. Like the Hussar or the LRM 5 Locus those light mechs can be a force - range and speed both did grant you almost invulnerability

The problem is the port to MWO. Here range became a death sentence for a light - simple because of the angular velocity of the crosshair. A 150kph locust at 90m is much harder to hit but the same mech at 600m.

Not to mention hardpoint limitations or other things. So you nailed it when you said there is no point to release the Flea - but there is no reason to release a couple of other Mechs too.
Quirks could have created a difference but this chance is now nil because quirks are wasted as balancing mechanic. (Could simple become a top rating in "The 10 worst game development decisions"

From here. But I was mistaken: the guy says "May be in game", not "Will be in game".
BTW, I don't know where the guy got this info. I don't follow the HBS forums much either (yet).

There was probably some confusion about whether PGI ever did the 3D model for the Flea, or just the concept art. Also, it wasn't known whether HBS might model some 'mechs on their own, so long as a concept is available.

HBS later clarified that they won't include anything for which they cannot get a ready-to-use 3D model from PGI.

Does that mean PGI did some vehicle models? ;)

(hope - this is something that keep us alive)

Well they did do the Leopard dropship.... And let's be fair, a treaded/hover/wheeled/VTOL would be a lot easier for PGI to model than a Mech would be...

For my part, I want to see the Crusader and more medium 'mechs in the 40 and 45-ton range, so the Assassin has my vote. The Wyvern would also be a good choice and I have a soft spot for the Clint.

All the love's going to heavy, assault and high-end medium 'mechs - give us more light-weight 'mechs but NOT as broken and disgusting as the Cheetah.

If I never see the Charger, I won't miss it.

Good question... I'm going to guess those tanks in the pre-alpha are by HBS. Far fewer details than 'mechs and next to no animations.

Yes, those are from HBS, if not Spooky's own work. HBS has Duane Loose from the original TRO 3025 and 3026 doing some concept work for them.

Also just as a note, the HBS forums are pretty good, but do, IMO, go too far on moderation. The admin is extremely to the left and PC, and apparently posts with left leaning get a lot more leniency than those that disagree, and while getting outright banned is not easy (though pretty sure there are one or two around here up to the challenge) constant moderation of what would be totally non attention garnering posts on any other forum, end up in the nether there.

*shrugs* It's their forums, to enforce as they wish, and as a guest, one must abide, but it's worth noting.

From Raubwurst's twitter tracker thread, Russ says announcement will be "early next week". And he confirms it is NOT the Flea.

(If I'm reading the time stamps correctly, "next week" means this week.)

Edit: Whoops, Imperius already had this info above.

I just hope it's a Light mech. There are a few other mechs that might get me excited, such as the Lancelot or the Wolf Trap, but beyond that......

50000 sales can't be wrong or whatever. Minimally viable product is the MO, so my guess? If the Marauder was good, Marauder IIC, "better" then obviously we need a 100 ton IS Marauder II!

He posted that yesterday, so he should mean NEXT week, not this week. Unless he thinks Sunday doesn't count as this week.

depends on the culture. Many do count the week from Monday thru Sunday, which, TBH makes a lot more sense, than "splitting" your weekend over two separate weeks.

Hmmm interesting... See, I learned something new today!

BTW, NEW MECH IN A COUPLE OF DAYS!
