Very skilled theorycraft, except for one mech: the Champion. It won't be in the game, and not because of the similarity with the Dragon, or the lack of space (hardpoints always in the torsos), but because of its name.

Mechs that can't be out of the OP: Fafnir, Argus, Blood Asp, Rifleman IIC, Hellion and Hellhound.

I'd totally use a Champion Champion mech. Even if the XP bonus is completely pointless when you have 5000 GSP sitting in your bank.

PGI created two kinds of special mechs, the HERO and the CHAMPION mechs. When they chose the word champion, I believe they simply ruled out the mech of the same name.

Not that I don't like the mech: I love these "fighter-style" mechs. I just think there will be a lot of confusion with the name (and, between us, with all weapons in the side torsos, this wouldn't be the best mech out there).

As much as I'd love to see the Champion, a lot of the variants are a lot alike, so it could cause some issues.... well not really just a boat load of "P" varaints....


That being said, I wonder how many people are going to play the Black Lanner after the first couple of weeks.... I really hope that everyone that wanted it, really does like it when it goes live.... I just have a feeling it's going to get dumped into the same area of the hanger that the unloved mechs go....

I wish it made more sense to include the Hatchetman . Such a cool mech.

I'd imagine PGI's version would look something like this...



It would be sweet (especially if that hatchet could be usable).

When it came to the Linebacker, I just said it was a poor and questionable replacement for the Timber Wolf, but again I told everyone that wanted it, that I hope it lived up to their expectations.

For me, I got lucky with both the Warhammer and Bushwacker being the beast I thought they were going to be, as such I have not been disappointed with them.

PS: there are some less known and relevant remaining mechs in MW2:M, but I think we can live without them.

I like this idea if this is what they had planned behind the curtain. However, with mechs like the Black Lanner not being featured in any Mechwarrior games (correct me if I'm wrong here) I don't think that is the case. I'm not going to complain about the popularity of such said mechs since my pet mech is up in line for the clan heavy department. I'd wish that mechs like the Toyama had a fair chance. Who knows, maybe after my pet mech drops in game I'll go out there and make a Toyama awareness thread.

The Black Lanner is a quite popular mech in MW:LL (like the next Clan assault mech, the Blood Asp) and is also one of the mechs added by Mektek to MW4:M.

I've thought the majority of the popularity for the Black Lanner was due to the fact it was one of the original clan invasion mechs. So more or less, people wanted it in the game largely for this reason. I saw models of it for MW:4 but wasn't really sure if it was an official add on mech for the game. Already knew it was in MW:LL, but so are a number of MW:4 mechs in that mod.
