The more they wait, the less they will sell (unless they want to make a MW5 tie-in).
Not necessarily. After all, there were direct posts in the livestream (still present in the Twitch archive) about people being happy for the wait. Purportedly -and quite possibly true, considering the whales keep the game going- there are people saying the wait for a new mech would allow them to "catch up" on mechs they had and/or wanted to purchase.
Besides, back before the Clans really set the monthly mech releases in motion, PGI did just fine with a mech release every 2-4 months; and that wasn't even mech packs. I think they'll do just fine if they go back to that kind of release schedule. If anything, the fact that PGI has grown their mech art team more than any other team in the company just pushed the need for monthly mech releases that much more . . . as well as making them overall less profitable (more salaries = more overhead = less profit).
On the other hand, yeah, I do expect that the next mech to have some kind of MW5 tie-in to help encourage sales. I still think throwing in a DLC code with purchase of the collector's packs for future mechs would be a great business strategy for them.
As for release, Russ already said NOT June . . . but if they wait until August then they'll only have barely over a month to make sales for any sort of MW5 tie-in. Early to Mid July for an announcement, maybe? Possibly parallel it with the ability to start Steam Pre-orders? Seems reasonable.
