Ironically, none of the canon Cyclops variants mounts an ECM suite. :)

ECM is only used in Confederation. Other houses simply lack the tech and usage for it... at least at this time.

And as far as our own Cyclopses are concerned, CCAF is small enough never to need more than the RVN-3L to cover us.

If that is your only issue with much of that early BT art then you must not have seen much of it ^_^

Even if the chest is angled down doesn't mean the launch tubes angle that way. Not going to debate that it's a dumb idea.. lol

The Hatamoto Kaeru? With torpedos and such? Perhaps the chi instead.

Used the Kaeru's pic due to it still being a Hatamo-chi just modified, and that's an example of how cool it could look in MW:O. (Well, cooler since Flying Debris is some kind of concept art wizard. Still love Shimmering Sword though...)

In fact, the Cyclops is generally known for equipment like Command Consoles (mounted by the CP-10-Z-DC and CP-11-A-DC variants) and Collapsible Command Modules (mounted by the CP-10-HQ variant) - both of which canonically provide ECCM/Counter-ECM capabilities. :)

AS7-D-DC doesn't mount ECM in canon either. No reason a Cyclops variant can't or it having ECM making or breaking it's inclusion. The only ECM equipped Atlas doesn't happen till the Jihad.

Lol, I stand corrected and happy because that's one less reason to have another mini-atlas.

Most 'mechs in the game could be said to be "another mini-atlas." Anything under the Atlas unless it's a pure variant (and by that I mean pure energy, pure missile, pure ballistic,) falls under that category. That's where variant variance comes into play, and PGI's been shown to add/move hardpoints.

All true. Though, Lonestar's statement (IMO) implied that the Cyclops was a.) certain to be ECM-equipped and 2.) known for it.

My argument was: if anything, the Cyclops is normally equipped to be the anti-ECM 'Mech, in addition to being the quintessential Command 'Mech.

(As a side note, my personal opinion, FWIW, is that ECM capability should have gone to the AS7-K, instead of the AS7-D-DC (which should/would have had ECCM capability via its Command Console)...)

maybe the Devs would consider this and give AS7-k ECM, and have the Command Console for the D-DC start off working as the ECM (ECCM) now until they fully implement all the features.

Yea, but his original thought was fueled by the idea that the Cyclops is a command 'mech, and one that usually is considered to have advanced electronics/comm gear. Just makes most think it'd be the next best candidate for an Assault to have ECM. Seeing as we don't have electronic counter measures in, I think it'd be fine to have a second Assault with ECM besides the Atlas. Would be neat to see some electronic counter measures though.

I think it should remain as is, as it's not a huge deal. Also, don't need two Atlas variants having ECM, and coding ONE variants Command Console to work as ECM would be waaay more trouble then it's worth. Just wish Command Consoles actually did something instead of take up space.

Or don't give the Atlas ECM at all.

Wolf's Dragoons were a Clan unit sent to recon the IS for the invasion.

What? Really? Noooooo.

/Sarcasm off

And if you scratched the surface a hair's depth more, you'd also remember they were working to help the IS fight the Clans, and that all those Omnimech were being manufactured on Outreach, not imported from the Clan's home worlds.

The cyclops would be more of a mini atlas than any other mech but doesn't have the armor or speed to back it up.

Citation? I have my doubts about this

Blood Legacy.
Chapter 1, pg. 26. Jaime Wolf stats they have the schematics and are producing in limited numbers mechs on Outreach, while providing a caveat that while they may not have the technology levels of current Clan tech, it's still eons ahead of what the IS has.
Chapter 16, pgs. 160-166. The next-gen students (Victor, Kai, Hihiro, etc) are in training and Kit Fox mechs are the mechs they're required to steal and pilot.
Chapter 20, pgs. 198-209. The Students fight in Daishi for their final test.
Chapter 22, pgs. 219-227. The top two scoring students are awarded Daishi (Kai refuses his in favor of Yen-Lo-Wang, and Victor is awarded it instead having finished 3rd.)
Chapter 22, ibid. Jaime Wolf provides blue prints to the FWL for new mech weaponry to be manufactured for the war effort of the Combine and FedSuns.

----------------------------

Also can the discussion of ECM cease in this thread? We have more threads on ECM then I'd care to count. Let's keep this one focused on Mech announcements...or the lack thereof.

Awesome thanks for that. Had no idea! Impressive they kept this concealed from the prying eyes of the Inner Sphere for so long

Yeah, that's the real question, just how many mechs are they able to produce in a month/year and when exactly did they start production? That and what other Mechs are they producing? Because I'm hoping for the Hagetaka (Vulture). :D
