There's a very high likelihood that Clan mechs will be released in a set of 4 as previously discussed in this thread.

Maybe the first 4 (with some kind of "Clan Founder Program"?). But the next ones would probably be 1 by 1.

We already have 1 partially useless 40 tonner that can do the same. And it only has 2 viable variants, with the SL era basic being AC/10 + ML and not JJs... and it's after a rollback, so no 3050 variants.

I think Vindicator would be a better idea. :)

The Clint is a much better Medium than the Vindicator, IMO. Fast + Jump Jets = something we need in the Medium weight.
The Vindicator is just as slow as the Blackjack, with variants not so good. It could get into MWO, but solely because of how important it is to the Capellan military.

They could also just skip us in the 3050 waves just providing news updates, and bring in the players when the last wave starts around the end of 3051...

Otherwise we get part of a wave, then a big break from Oct 3050 to Nov 3051. Otherwise they don't really have a reason we are fighting the clan all that time.

Firestarter would have 6 energy hardpoints and 2 ballistics by default (4 flamers, 2 ML, and 2MGs)...Swayback Jr, anyone? :)

Yeah, i'll take three of them! :)
The Firestarter is an excellent choice in the light class. Lots of different variants, all with JJ's and some with BAP or ECM. They should bring it.

Call me unnecessarily optimistic, but I think we are going to be surprised with how much they can come out with. Everyone is assuming that just because they haven't means that they cannot..... :)

But the Clint has the same armor as Cicada and except for the JJs, there's little point to it. Besides, it's not becaus I would hate the mech, it is, after all, used extensively in the Confederation and not only that, it also belongs to the same AC/5 + ML category as Shadow Hawk.

With Vindicator 1AA, the fast + JJs requirement suddenly gets a new meaning, with a 86km/h variant with JJ power of a Jenner, it is a bit better candidate for a next mech.

Where did you get this notion from? Of course they will release more. They stated before they have 32 IS mechs lined up. Now whether those all are releasable on the current time scale is another issue.

For instance if they do a fast forward they might want to add popular future US battlemechs. But alas with the media black out we'll just have to wait and see.

Armor could be improved in the Mech Lab (BTW, the armor of the Vindicator 1AA is even crappier). But you can't possible want the Vindicator because just 1 variant, which is exactly the same as the other, just with bigger engine and less armor.

I was talking about max armor. And 1AA also has better jets.

As far as variants go, the first one is pretty obvious, the 1R. Standard, yet still something we don't have.

Then we have the 1AA, which means decent medium mech speed for all variants and if it could get one JJ more, it would be the obvious go-to variant for any people who love Phoenix Hawk, or just want to try it out.

Then we have 2 more a bit less interesting variants:

One is the 1X, which is a simple swap of ML for an MG, but we both know what an MG means in this game terms, especially when it's headmounted and has enough crits for that weapon.

The second one is the 1SIC, which swaps the PPc for a LL and LRM 5 for an LRM 10.

As far as the formalities for choosing mechs go, Vindicator is fine.

Indeed, 4 variants... well, the number is enough, but the variants are not much stimulating (except for the 1AA)...

Actually, game-wise speaking, the only lame variant is the 1AA, becuase it should technically look and feel the same. The others are pretty unique not even between themselves, but even in the game (For instance, no mech in the game could hope to have AC2 in it's head... a ballistic zombie, if nothing else.) and giving them unique hardpoints wouldn't be that hard. :)

I asked but in a more round about route to see if it'll elicit a response since "where is battlemech #20?" has gone largely ignored.

I threw in a "Battlemech #20, where is it?", just to make my displeasure known.
