Well the community is fond of placing perjoratives on certain Mechs.

Mind linking my "Thrid variant" thread?

If I were to guess, I would bet that we will get a Clan Hero before the year is out. It would have to be a variant with Unique Hardpoints, or at least be announced at the time of Clan Mech Quirk Pass.

My hope is that the next Mech we get is a Heavy. Many people have talked about the Black Knight , but my heart always will be with the Grasshopper and Guillotine. Despite the fact that Odanan has smartly predicted that they will be identified as slower Quickdraws(The competitive community are likely to impose the perjorative "Slowdraws" upon them), the Quirks system does present balance possibilities:

1) Guillotine could get an armor buff for legs and maybe torso(just look at those horse legs on its artwork! )

2) Grasshopper could get a JJ buff and maybe a speed buff.

I suspect that we will get at least 1 more IS mech before the year is over. A Guillotine/Grasshopper combo would be super cool.

Since I felt that this thread was not addressing the discussion of Mechs which do not have three variants, I created my own thread. You can find the "Thrid Variant" thread here.
We need more lights before anything else:

6/3 (9) Lights
10/3 (13) Mediums
7/4 (11) Heavies
8/3 (11) Assaults

Desperately in need of more Lights.

Looks like Russ updated his October Road Map post with the IS tier rankings. I'm kinda surprised that all the Shadow Hawks are in Tier 2. Also, soooooo many tier 4 mediums. I mean, it's not too surprising that the mediums have issues, but for the class that has the most mechs, there's so many in one spot.

If you look at the medium class, though, that is not surprising at all. Of all the classes, it is the one that has the most mechs that do the exact same thing. In fact, it only has one chicken-walker, and that mech is almost always referred to as a "heavy light".

Well, there are no tier 1 medium mechs either. It makes sense, nothing in there quite ranks close to the Ember/CTF-3D or the Victors in the medium deparment, but still, I would have thought it'd been spread out a bit more.

The good thing is, that means almost all mediums will be getting significant quirk buffs, so be happy!

Yeah, that's not lost on me. I've played Shadow Hawks, Hunchbacks, Centurions & Vindicators. I hate the last two, but I love me my Shadow Hawks (especially the SHD-2H) and I rather like the HBK-4G. I'll be happy to see them get some nice perks. The Hunchback I run fairly basic, STD 250, 3 MLs, AC/20, 3 tons of ammo. Simple and effective.

I really don't see the dissatisfaction with the SHD-2H though. Sure, if you're trying to meta with it, yeah, not going to have too much luck, but I run it with an AC/10, ER LL, 2xSRM4 for a good mix of range & brawl...could swap the 4's for a 6 with Artemis...(I'd love to see someone do a comparison between the two at some point). Heat Efficient, Quick, Jump Jets. I guess it's not abusing anything so that's why it's not a Comp Mech.

edit: Humm, thinking about some of Russ' posts on it, I hope that the SHD-2H doesn't get any LRM or AC/5 specific perks. I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to move that build over to another variant, but atm the 2H is one of the few mechs that gets 3 Module Slots which lets me use my Advanced Zoom. I've got a feeling it might be losing that in the quirk pass. Come to think of it the HBK-4G also has an extra module slot.

Hell yeah Guillotines! maybe for a guillotine hero mech would have a decapitation theme to it. black knights look cool but all they have are energy hardpoints. the Guillotine and Grasshopper can atleast mount missiles.

If you are waiting for IS chicken walkers in the medium class you will be in for a long wait. The Bushwacker does not have three variant until 3056. The Raijin is produced before it, but that does not have three variants for even longer.

I could care less, as I am not a fan of mediums. It was just an example of the lack of diversity in the medium class as a whole.

I really dislike the tier ranking system though I want more info before I start to rail against it (like it would do any good anyways).

Also, bump.

if visual diversity is the only complaint then PGI is doing something right.

Some of my best mechs are Tier 4 or 5, and as I said in another thread they are going to regret giving me fancy quirks as I run around crushing my enemies and quoting Conan on what is best in life. B)

I was cruising around Sarna.net this morning and came across the original artwork for the Flea. It is just amazing. This is how this mech should look in MWO once MASC is sorted out :)

I mean REALLY, it's no contest. The original looks way sleeker and more powerful.

You are joking, right? :D

The original Flea is hilariously ugly.

Besides, let's not talk about the Flea - the devs might want to really add it to the game. (And I really don't wish to see a fatter Locust in the field)
