Well, I'd point out the Firestarter is an anti-Infantry mech, too.

Don't seem to be doing too badly for itself.

Yes but in MWO the difference between a 40-ton mech and a 35-ton mech are immense. I suppose there might be a Vulcan variant that could compete with the Ember in a tonnage based world but I doubt it. Any hope of it being a heavy Firestarter comes down immensely to hitboxes and its overall size.

And PGI randomly deciding to give it 4+ Ballistic hardpoints. Which none of the timeline variants call for.

It seems like our IS choices for now are:

LIGHT
Firefly
Hermes
Hussar
Javelin
Mercury
Mongoose
Thorn
Urbanmech
Wolfhound

Ahem. And where is the light mainstay of the Draconis Combine other than the Jenner in this list of lights? Hmm? Where is the Panther? The original Little Mech with Big Gun? I am dismayed... Nay, I am _shocked_ at such a blatant attempt to ignore the importance of this pride of the Draconis Combine in the light mech ranks. This is, obvioously, due to vicious and malicious FedCom propaganda. Hmph. The nerve of some people!

Oh, there are all sorts of variables. Almost a shame about the Ember though. It's SO good it almost blots out the fact the other FS9s are really quite good too. Just not AS good, lol.

But there are so many variables, I learned long ago to stop basing merit solely on it's TT stats.

If they stay true to the silhouette, just that along, with a decently skinny profile could make it rather survivable.

And hey, every Light can run around with big guns in MWO. and move a lot faster while doing so.

Hmmm... the Vulcan only gets the 3rd and 4th variants in 3050... (5M and 5S - the later has MASC)

And there is a conflict of Sarna and MUL: in Sarna, the VT-5M entered producion in 3052.

So, according to Sarna, Vulcan is not good for MWO.

By the time the pack gets delivered it will be 3050. Unfortunately for panther lovers its 3rd variant comes 3051

Cant PGI just break its own rules for engines for the Urbie?

I mean seriously the only thing holding it back is speed, and maybe its CT hitbox being big.

But for lights, itll have the highest mounted weapons and the farthest from the CT.

You might actually be able to snipe with it without exposing your CT..AT ALL. That alone is worth it.

Yes, it's the VT-5M. But in Sarna the production date in 3052. I guess MUL has more authority?

Well, Sarna is a Fan Wiki, MUL is actually from CGL.

So, yeah, sorta. LOL.

Also don't forget the 5S.

In my copy of the 3050 TRO it lists the 5M as having a production date of 3050.

Still bothers me that people say "Urbies max speed is..."

You have no idea what pgi will set its max engine too. For godsake its not about the stock load out. Anything you can do with a Raven you can generally do with an Urbie...its got an energy and ballistic in the arms. Theyre high mounted. Its got JJs, you can put in a faster engine. You end up with a mech just like the Raven, but no ECM (or maybe it does, who knows).

But you get to be in an Urbie...

Mindblowing people are so obtuse.

Actually, we sort of do. All lights to date have had an engine cap that is 1.4 times the starting engine, although it occasionally gets rounded. In this case that would be an 85 rating engine, which IIRC is something like 42.5 kph.

Even if it gets a quirk where it's 1.4 times a 100 rated engine it's max speed is going to be like 75.6...well, I guess there's speed tweak as well. Even if they give it an additional quirk that up's it's max engine to 1.5 instead of 1.4 you're still looking at like 89.1 kph with tweak.

Having played the Vindicator this is insufficient to be useful.

And with all that extra tonnage devoted to the engine you're still using a 150 rated engine which means 4 additional tons for heat sinks to get to 10, which means you can mount an AC/10...and 1 ton of ammo with a pair of Jump Jets...with an XL.

Not to mention it's tubular shape is going to make it very easy to hit, so say good-bye to your side torsos, which means death. Or you can take a cripplingly small standard engine, and be only slightly faster than a Dire Wolf...and have to devote 2 more tons for heat sinks.

Getting to be 'in an Urbie' is a punishment, not a reward. I'd take a Raven over an Urbanmech every day of the week.

and as for Mindbogglingly obtuse people, just look at all the people that are desperate for a mech should be the worst mech ever released, unless PGI gives it a staggering number of positive quirks, not limited to (min engine rating 100, max engine rating ~150-200, 360 torso twist, 4x thrust on jump jets (so 2 JJs become 8), ability to launch with less than 10 heat sinks, and a deflector shield that reduces it's silhouette and profile to that of a spider) then it might, just might be useful.

Never noticed until just now.... Yes, they need to be more bent. Good catch, you got my support.
