Guillotine anyone? As an alternative to the Grasshopper I mean. They're actually very similar in design. Both 70 tons, both jump capable, both sport a large laser in one of the arms and a quartet of medium lasers plus a missile system. The only difference is the location of the missile hardpoint and the type of missiles that are carried normally (Grasshopper is LRM's in the head, Guillotine is SRM's in the CT I believe if memory serves me).
Just figured I'd toss that out there as an alternative to the Grasshopper. I actually prefer the look of the Guillotine over the Grasshopper but I do like both 'mechs and would love to see either of them to be honest.

PS: I find the Guillotine much more efficient, as a mech. (I just hate LRM-5s).

We should be getting all...ALL... the mechs right? just not the unseen one's unless their redesigned and under a different name.
So the discussions about the order in which they come out is just plain academic.
I think I need to ask the question, which is how long does it take to get a mech in the game?
I mean their already on paper, we know what their stats are and the renders are already made...
So what are the steps in making them come to life...1.2.3.4 etc. etc...

Problem is since the unseen were the first mechs designed these are the most versatile and typically have the most variants (Marauder has about a dozen until 3075). These are also quite iconic for Battletech. Later mech designs were most of the time designed just to fit certain special roles and gaps that the more versitile Mechs could barely cover.
so best would be to just introduce all unseen into the game ;-)
Like . . .the Locust?

You realize that Battletech has just over 500 unique canonical 'mech chassis, right?

It's a cool mech, has 4 variants. But it is uncommon, with at least one variant extinct and 3 of the 4 variants are basically the same thing. Besides, energy boats are boring.

Not all! It takes time and effort to add them, so every one counts.
Mechs that won't be in the game at all:
1- Mechs with less than 3 variants;
2- Mechs too uncommon (like the extinct SL designs) or faction restricted (like the Wolf Dragoons-only);
3- Quad (probably not, as suggested by answers of the devs), LAMs;
4- Mechs too similar in role of some mech already in;
5- Maybe all the Unseen/Reseen;
6- Mechs that don't fit in the timeline (I suppose the game will stop to be updated in about 10 years max - so mechs from 3059 on will be left out).
Besides, the devs suggested that they have 32 IS mechs planned. Considering they will add at least 20 clan mechs (that's the clan omnimechs from 3050) and maybe more (as they hinted there will be a Hunchback IIC), we will have no less then 52 mechs in the game. Not to mention the clan omni mechs from 3055 and 3058.
Doing the math, for the current pace, we will have mechs for the next 41 months (one per month).
About the time it takes for each mech, the Cicada was announced in 09/may/2012 and added in the 31/oct/2012 update. So, it takes about 5 to 6 months to have a mech ready.

The Black Knight is rare, but so was the Highlander.
The Black Knight also meets the minimum variant requirement.

All 4 possible Black Knight variants have not only the same number of energy hard points, the same location of these hardpoints and basically the same weapons in this hardpoints. They are the same thing!
If you want a 75 tons energy boat, why not pick the Awesome?
PS: MW4 is just an advanced Mech Assault. Don't bring it up.
