Three reasons:
1) Dual AC20 Assault
2) Plenty of dakka
3) Most of the devs probably grew up during the MW3 generation... (of which that mech was prominent)
4) It's 100 tons, and a MC hero variant would make the most profit (it will also cost the most).
Hardpoints of primary variant:
CT - 2 energy (2 med pulse)
LT - 1 ballistic (LBX10)
RT - 1 ballistic (LBX10)
LA - 1 energy (med pulse), 1 ballistic (LBX10)
RA - 1 energy (med pulse), 1 ballistic (LBX10)
It'll sell... it really will.

I still believe it will be the Banshee but I would be pleasantly surprised if it was the Annihilator. You could grab some popcorn and watch the nerd rage soars to new heights among the "Ermagerd, nerf it noa!" crowd. Honestly, I would probably die laughing if they announced the Annihilator. Yep, that settles it. Put me down for one Annihilator please.

1) Not dual, possible quad.
2) Too much dakka for the balance sake.
3) I don't think many of the devs played MW3...
4) Banshee is a 95 tonner - not much difference, right?
(and you listed 4 reasons, not 3)

The problem would be the quad-Gauss, quad-UAC/5, quad-AC/10 (standard ANH-1A), dual-AC/20-dual-UAC/5, and other such possibilities.
And then there is the energy boat that is the ANH-1E - quad-PPCs and six Medium Lasers (10 energy hardpoints on a 100-ton 'Mech), and forty-one standard Heat Sinks.
Octo-PPC builds, anyone?
Even without the lore/canon reasons not to add it, the ANH is the kind of 'Mech that lends itself to very powerful and easily-abusable builds - there are arguably-plausible gameplay concerns that would dictate not adding the ANH to MWO.

Two things, they stated the release of the next mechs goes: Medium, Heavy, Assault, Light. All of the announces assaults are in game, which makes mech #20 being release some time in July. [I am positive I read this from a pgi source somewhere but I can't find it which makes my statement hearsay at the moment]
Also about 15 days ago it was stated that mech 20 would be announced in the next 30 days.

Be thankful Light Gauss Rifles http://www.sarna.net...ght_Gauss_Rifle are not in this timeline. You could easily mount 4 of them along with support weaponry. Tons of fun at maximum range.
