The Bushwhacker was straight from the first ones in the factory line if I remember right.

Also the summer set strikers and the battletech episode was only through 3 years.

3050 to 3053

The year 3052 was when Adam Steiner gone for the planet "Barcelona" with AFFC high command approving.

So the series was stretched over a course of a few years. You didn't think they did non-stop jumping and fighting without rest, gather supplies and to resupply, fix there mechs, etc?

It was for the first reason, not the 2nd just to sale more mechs...

Keep in mind the TV show is actually cannon, and the bushwhaker was just 1 variant, we need 3 for MW: O...
The 3rd variant available for the mech is around 3058 just for the LBX 20 to be out for the Inner sphere... so expect 3058-3059...

PGI also said they may do some "time jumps" where there is a MM que for say 3050, 3060, etc to prevent your old tech mechs fighting late end mechs and stuff. This is just a possible idea and won't be happening soon.

But this is sooner then we think as we are actually running out of mechs for our current time line slowly... the clans only have 3 more mechs to offer to put that into perspective (not including garrison, 2nd line, or IIC mechs)

I normally don't count on a cartoon like that to follow timelines too closely. Like you said though, it must have taken place over 3 years and they (due to all the fighting), but they just never addressed it.

Well, if we have to wait that long for a Bushwhacker, I might be having too much fun with the Cougar to play it :(.

Thanks for the info though, very informative.

The animated series was canonized in the 1st Somerset Strikers Sourcebook.

It's funny to see people speculating Chassis for which we don't have enough variants:

"I bet it's the Dervish"

"Clearly its going to be the Wolfhound"

Russ confirmed on the Town Hall what those of us who follow this thread alreay knew: They are limiting themselves to Chassis which have 3 timewise varants(Sorry Bushwacker fans).

If we are getting 4 Chassis for a total value of $80 US, the possibility for a "bonus mech" for those who bought a phoenix pack last year(either original or reinforcement). Could this be how they inject the Mauler into the game?

The Packs clearly have been the cash cow for PGI, and I am not entirely opposed to the "New Mech a month" model being abandoned if it means we get Mechs in "chunks" so that other content can be produced more quickly. Especially if the new Packs follow the Pack->MC-> Cbill model we have been following for the Clammer Mechs.

The Quirks system also creates a quick fine tuning possibility to avert any serious "pay to win" complaints(which will die once the Madcat/Timberwolf becomes available for C-Bills).

I doubt they are going to call it the "Clanbuster Pack" since the year is still 3049, but I expect it will have a clever name. Regardless of the name, I am SUPER excited that IS Players are being shown some love, especially on the eve of Community Warfare.

Question about the BW Timeline (since it is the only reason I am playing this game, to be honest).
Would we not be able to do 3053 for its release?
I'm looking at Sarna, and what I see is this:

Bushwacker Primary - 1 ER Large , 2 LRM5's , AC/10, 2 MG's
Bushwacker BSW-X2 - 2 x Med Pulse, 3 x LRM5 (I'm assuming it still has AC/10 and MG's, since they are noted to be omitted)
Bushwacker BSW-S2 - LBX10, ERLarge, SRM4

So , in all technicality that would give 3 different 'variants' of the BW that have weapons currently available to date.
The L-1 and S2r would wait till the timelines when those weapons become available.

Damn,

See I don't know a list like that existed...
7 Years till the BW in game time? What a waste of my time here thus far.

It is incredible, but the Grasshopper might actually win the heavy poll!

That would give us one more mech from the Battletech Introductory Box.
 • Commando - check
 • Spider - check
 • Jenner - check
 • Panther
 • Assassin
 • Cicada - check
 • Clint
 • Hermes II
 • Whitworth
 • Vindicator - check
 • Enforcer - not enough variants (has only 2, considering the 3050 ENF-5D)
 • Hunchback - check
 • Trebuchet - check
 • Dervish (Not enough variants)
 • Dragon - check
 • Quickdraw - check
 • Catapult - check
 • JagerMech - check
 • Grasshopper
 • Awesome - check
 • Zeus - probably the next Assault mech?
 • Cyclops
 • Banshee - check
 • Atlas - check

Would love to have all of them.

looks like a revamp of the 7K artwork from the 3050 TRO. Which never made sense, either, lol. But the split LRMS in the upper torso, and Gauss would make me think that.

We shouldn't consider the lack of melee a deal breaker for any mech (YLW as precedent).

The YLW is a Hero mech, based off of the Centurion that does not have Melee weapons, so that does not really count. Also, the claw is a very minor part of the overall design, compared to the Hatchetman/Axman, which was built around the weapon.

you are right until the fact you forgot the Yen Lo Wang (like most other heros in MW: O, deaths knell, boars head, hellslinger, SIB, etc) is cannon and it was a famous solaris mech that had a hatchet.

The YLW was built around the weapon as well as it was missing the SRM's and only brave, skilled, or stupid pilots do not take a hatchet or an ax to solaris

EDIT:

Some hero mechs in MW: O are based of mechs in cannon that do not have there exact weapons or specs released like the Heavy metal or deaths knell.

other mechs like the boars head has the hardpoints the same but equipment changed just so it's better for it's price.

It is hard to forget a fact that does not even happen for roughly 100 years. The YLW of the 31st century (our time) only had titanium nails (ie a claw) and was modified from a standard Centurion for Justin Allard to fight in Solaris. That is the version we have, with the AC20 and MLs. Then it was gifted to his son Kai just before the Clan invasion (Sept 3050, so next year) by Hanse Davion after getting a Star League tech upgrade. It was not until the 32nd century (~3120) that it was gifted to Danai, Kai's niece, who repaired it and upgraded the claw to a hatchet.

I am quite aware of canon, thank you very much.

Wasn't the later one a Davion refit with a guass rifle instead?

It got the Gauss Rifle with two tons of ammo, 200 XL engine, 3 medium pulse lasers, three more heat sinks, and triple strength myomer before shipping out to Alyina in 3051. The hatchet was a much later modification. The weight change between a 200 and 200 XL plus the removal of the melee modification covers the weight (Sarna says it still has the melee, but there is no armor reduction or endo steel so their math does not add up). The thing with some of the older Solaris designs is there were not rules to cover some of the more exotic modifications like "titanium nails" (later put into the rules as claws) in the original rule set so the hatchet rules were used. The MWO Yen Lo Wang is not identical with the lack of melee. I hope it gets changed if/when they do melee, but until then it gets a bigger engine. It would be cool to see the 3051 upgrade with 10th Lyran Guard colors, offered as a separate hero for Christmas of 3051.

Well here's my 5¢ of a guess for the IS mechs pack.

LIGHT: Javelin

MEDIUM: Clint

HEAVY: Grasshopper

ASSAULT: Cyclops

But I am still waiting for the "and suddenly mauler out of motherf*cking NOWHERE!"

While its my fav Atlas look, the split LRM chests, its also why in TT art is less canon than stats and the written word. Not that CGL haven't been trying to improve things, look at all the opening panels/hidden weapon ports the TRO2750 'Mechs and vehicles got in TRO:3050 Upgrade and TRO3039.

In what universe is either the Javelin or the Clint a "slam dunk"? I can barely see the Javelin from the descriptions Russ gave during that stream but the Clint while full of nostalgia is super generic and boring.

Well it seems like my knowledge on the YLW isn't as crystal clear as I thought I knew it.

Thank you guys for clearing that up. (may I ask where the 3rd energy weapon was located?)

On the discussion on the light and medium mech from the pack. What will be the medium? we got so many mediums I can't think of any interesting ones to add to be a surprise unless it's a quad which will never happen in MW: O.

For lights I can only think of the flea or urbie.

Two medium pulse lasers in the left arm and 1 in the center torso, if it's this the YLW you are talking about.

@ Odanan

Just reading the OP again (I can't like it enough) and I found one discrepancy....

Quote

The Timeline

January, 2014 = January 3051. Most of the MW4 and MW4M mechs will not be in the game because they will exist only in 10 years or more. Uziel, Thanatos, Hellspawn, Argus, Osiris, Chimera, Fafnir, Mad Cat MK II and other favorites may never show up in this game (It's like wanting a F4 Phantom in a WW2 game).

Official MWO Time

Just FYI.... :)
