Did Russ specifically state in the Town Hall that he wouldn't?
I'm figuring on a new 40-tonner for the next IS mech, or maybe the Charger (because I suspect there's already concept art for it).

Hmm idk, I figure they might try to squeeze in a few more unseens. I mean Mechs pay for PGI they can not afford to make any new ones for awhile. I mean why would they stop making them? to stretch out even longer this era? Eh, I would say that would not be a smart move on their end specially with the tourney/mechcon coming up they will need to keep making profits something new mechs always boost.
Only acceptable drought I would take is if they announce say 2 to 4 of Bishops mentioned mechs then announce 8 new mechs for tech jump that would take 8 to 6 months of planning, balancing, and modeling ect. similar to Wave 1 of Clan mechs.

Oh, it's the IS time (why did I think it was a Clan mech next?)...
You guys know me, I wouldn't mind at all if they announced 2 mechs this month. And every month.
PS: where are the other Macross Unseens?

Pretty sure they say 2 medium of Clan and 2 Heavy of Clan were next after the Clops, so then we got Viper and the NightGyr. So 1 medium and 1 large to go.
Maybe ..

They think that neither Crusader , Valkyrie, Longbow Wasp, Stinger can provide anything new - and most people would not buy a Wasp or Stinger.
OK Crusader, PHX, Valkryie, Stinger and Wasp have several parts in comon - when cannibalizing the PHX the 3D model could be less expensive to create those Mechs.
- OK maybe not Crusader -btu the 3 lights are almost identical - maybe a small package?
Ok sometimes even the presentation is important - i would have bought the Night Gyr - but its so an obvious parrot mech i rather cut my leg of instead of buying those darn Mech.

What about the mechs I mentioned.

I still don't see the point of the remaining unseen. There are objectively better mechs to choose from. For example, the Javelin is straight up better than the Valkyrie. The Wasp & Stinger are the same mech, just different name. What's the point of the Crusader when the Catapult is just about the same as well? The Longbow is the most unique, but not by much.

Crusader - is only an addition when you take all jump capable versions
pure missile or the mixed 3R could be achieved by Catapult Thunderbolt or Archer
Well the best part about the Crusader is the Grand Crusader anyhow

Which catapult can jump and carry ballistics?
Which Catapult is liable to have massive gorilla arms to block incoming fire with?
Which catapult has Ballistics, Energy AND Missiles all on the same chassis?
Two very different mechs.

Crusader and Grand Crusader have nothing to do with one another.
"the 'Mech is named for a passage in one of the works of Jerome Blake that states "those who fight to preserve technology and knowledge are the grandest crusaders of all". In spite of this, the name can cause confusion as some assume from the name that the 'Mech is an upgraded version of the venerable Crusader BattleMech. "

Falconer could be neat, but I'd take a Bandersnatch over it, any day.
Each arms packs 1 B/2 E, with 3 M/2 E more in the torsos.
Easy enough to convert it to 2x AC10, 6x SL, 3x SRM4. or something similar. Of course, also depends on how well it XL'd.

I'm not sure if Russ said the next mechs will be the Clan omnimechs (1 medium and 1 heavy) or if the next Clan mechs will be the Clan omnimechs (1 medium and 1 heavy).
In the second alternative, PGI can still insert an IS mech between each Clan mech...
