Hopefully it's not the beginning of a trend.
But knowing PGI, it probably is.

This points to technical incapacity in PGI more than anything else.

Or maximum effort mechpack.

I'm afraid that's true. So, the time jump will be only an excuse for new chassis, not new equipment.
On the other side, MKII fans can rejoice: their mech might come soon (with several made-up variants, but still).

Wasn't the Thug already possible?
THG-11E, THG-10E and THG-11Eb? (yeah the variation between the variants is extremely minor, but i mean take a look at the Crab, the biggest difference between its variants are the cosmetic claws, lol)

I also hope it does not start a trend.
But if it does... there are some very good IS-designs with few (i.e. 3) or even too few (less than 3) canonic variants. Actually, quite a lot: Gunslinger, Jackal, Falconer, Defiance, Cestus, Maelstrom, Dragon Fire, and more.
That list includes one of my favourite lights, the Spector, which would also work well in MWO. It has a high engine cap, ECM, JJ, a lot of energy hardpoints, and might be a serious counter to the Hankyu. However it has too few variants.

...or better yet, the King Crab.

Well we should make clear this is not what we want.
Of course, this means voting with your wallet. I dislike saying such things, but what are the alternatives?

Sure, up to you. As many did think 2017 seemed more realistic then 2016. Hell, at least we got a good chance now it seems. I cant even get a dev on WoT to confirm the M60A1 will even be announced in 2017 >.<

Many as in the 6 people who constantly post in this thread and still don't buy the majority of the mechs they say should come before others? Soon TM was said back in Feb, I'm tired of the lies but that's just me. I hope the OCD keeps the wallets open, it closed mine and at least 10 people in my unit's wallet. I'm not saying MWO is doomed. It's not, but making less money is making less money. Any business willing to throw away it's customers due to OCD and refuse to due things out of spite is a business that will not grow. If the MK II was announced for sale before 2017 I would come back and buy all the back mech packs I have skipped on and go back to being a once a month supporter. If it it's announced in 2017 I will just buy the MK II and that would be my only and final purchase until SP (if that ever makes it) comes out.
