Frankly, if poptarting is mostly limited to mediums....

I'm very ok with that. Heavy and assault mechs are bulkier, by comparison. If a more fragile, more agile mech which is necessarily tonnage limited is the better poptart, then excellent. I have no issue with the tactic whatsoever.

So long as I don't see the Uziel in there, I'll be happy with it.

There are better mechs to add for the IS, in the medium bracket I might add, than the Uziel... I just don't think the Uziel is going to survive going from nostalgia to reality of MWO.... She's got broad ST's in all her art...

My first choice for a new IS medium would be the Chimera, we don't have a lot of choice at 40t for IS mechs....

Well, Clan's don't exactly have a huge selection of 40 tonners, either.... Chimera for IS... Arctic Wolf for Clans? Sounds good to the Bishop!

Coyotl
Arctic Wolf
Pouncer
Phantom

All of those, with the top two being the Coyotl and Arctic Wolf....

I still think, now more than ever now that PGI doesn't technically need to invent variants, the Pouncer is a safer bet than the Coyotl. That said, the Arctic Wolf would be so much fun. Posted Image 9 missile hard points. 9!!!

Edit: Though if they go with the Omni version of the mech, the Alpha would be sick. If I am reading this right, that makes 2E4M and ECM. o_0

However, it we're talking showing off newtech with new mechs, Lobo is a good 40-ton choice.

I would prefer the iconic mechs. Once futuretech is out, it will be possible to mount in any mechs, so no need to search for obscure chassis.

Frankly, I want good mechs in the hands of both IS and Clan pilots. There are some well known steaming piles of surat droppings, such as the Black Lanner. A well less known, but superior, platform would be nice to see. Especially if it ticks the underutilized 40-ton slot.

Even if we avoid the question what makes a Mech "iconic" - for that is highly subjective - I am very glad that MWO features Mechs that have not been seen in previous games like the Night Gyr (and it proved to be quite popular, didn't it?). Some of those more 'obscure' designs could be very powerful in MWO and have interesting lore.

The Uziel e.g. would neither be powerful nor does it have much lore, and what little lore it has is largely unflattering. Take it from a Steiner-fan, a medium-fan, a Defiance-fan, and a player of MW4: choosing this Mech would be a big mistake because there are so much better choices. I'd rather take an 'obscure' Mech.

Like the Gauntlet perhaps? I know she's a dark age unit, but only two variants use tech beyond 3068....

Hey 40t isn't the only underutilized slot. We could still use more 95 tonners and there is one I have in mind. ;)

I really, really like the Gauntlet, it is essentially the Bushwacker 2.0, and there are many more DA-units I would love to see. I mean, the Götterdämmerung has immediately become one of my favourites.

Unfortunately though the DA-units are a bit out of place in MWO and there are many Mechs which should be added first (and without the need of the time-machine - seriously, I would pay for a DA-game...).

My preferred 40t Mech is the Sentinel, a total dark horse and extremely ugly. But with Alex's art and its many diverse variants it could be an interesting ride.

Well yes, the Nightstar is another one of those not-so-über-famous Mechs which I think would be a brilliant addition to the game. (Not that a BattleTech-fan wouldn't know about it, but it is no Atlas).

Sentinel is fun. My jihad era one packs full armor, an RAC2, SSRM4 and an ERML. Not the most potent mech, but pretty fun.

The Sentinel is a really interesting mech; and with some of the fan-art out there it's not hard to see that Alex could make it look like a really awesome mech for MWO.

I'll admit though that the 40 tonner of my personal preference would be the Clint. I've always been a fan of that mech and liked the fact that it was a solid workhorse frontline mech for the tonnage. In addition, the looks on even the old artwork was solid enough that you know Alex could do great things with it. Also, conveniently enough, the Clint has some nice 3060+ variants out there with LFE's, ER lasers, and Plasma Rifles.

In addition to the Iconic 'Mechs from other games like the Uziel, Fafnir, Cougar, and Bloodasp, I think we need all of the 3039 'Mechs... Clint, Hermes II, Vulcan, Whitworth, and Dervish

Not to mention the Melee 'Mechs: the Hatchman and Axeman... the Turkina X... Oops... anyways...
I have an idea about how to make "Melee" weapons... code it as a ranged weapon with very short range with the appropriate animation.

Hatamoto Chi- the "Samurai Thug"- which leads to the other Hatamoto 'Mechs

Then we have the Star League 'Mechs which are mostly found in Comstar/WoB as well as in some of the Clan second line units:

Thorn, Flea, Hornet, Mongoose, Falcon, Hermes, Hussar, The Sentinel, Wyvern, Kintaro, Champion, Lancelot, Bombardier, Guillotine, Flashman, Thug, Guillotine... Guillotine... Did I mention the Guillotine?

Can we please get Faction Specific 'Mechs?

Project Phoenix 'Mechs that are missing: Stinger, Wasp, Valkyrie, Ostscout, Scorpion (quads would be nice), Ostroc, Ostsol, Cursader, Goliath (again with the quad), Longbow, Marauder II... That Marauder II...love it!

I am very much a Clan loyalist, but more than this I am a Battletech loyalist... I want to see all the 'Mechs from the lore make it into the game... but that isn't really reasonable, if only because many of these will not make PGI much money...

Ultimately I would like to see PGI find the formula that gets the game more of a following so that PUG matches can be timeline specific, like Late Succession War (LosTech), FedCom Civil War, Dark Age to start. However, I see most everyone just running the latest timeline so that they can play with everything... maybe tie the timeline restrictions into the Stock 'Mech modes...

For completeness these are the Eras of the Battletech timeline: Age of War, Star League, Early Succession War, Late Succession War (LosTech), Late Succession War (Renaissance), Clan Invasion, FedCom Civil war, Jihad, Early Republic, Late Republic, Dark Age.

I am Jade Falcon, and really want my IGN namesake... also, I can't wait to see what PGI does with the Fire Falcon... but I shall stop here, because I could just go on ad nauseum...
