By my calculations, yes!
Now the big question is: will it be a 4-mech pack?

Edit: What's your favorite?
Summoner.
I have a thing for bad robots, I guess (after all, I'm the guy that pushed til we got Urbanmech and Assassin, lol......)
Summoner was the first chassis I ever used at Virtual World in the old early 90s version where you could only choose the basuc 3050 TRO Clan Heavies, and it was the only one base with an Autocannon and Jump Jets, and it had a PPC. I fell in love with that mobility, it's been my favorite clan mech ever since.
Anyhow, the Invasion Clan Sourcebook came out with the Crossbow, and there was something about the stinkfist in your face arms, and the pose, I just loved the thing, instantly. Then they retconned an IS version, too, which is one of my fave IS Heavies, even though it's not a great robot.... but I like mechs that aren't perfect, I think they are more interesting for lore.

My first love was the Griffin, so I'm kind of find fond of the Summoner because of several similarities (at least as stock goes).
Speaking of Summoners, now that you've jogged my memory, have you fiddled with the ammo count buffs in the new skill tree? Think you can also get enough mobility to get the total package of fun with the stock build?

Mine was the Marauder IIC (Mechwarrior 2 demo, 1995 - my first contact with the Battletech IP). As a Macross fan, playing with the Marauder simply blew my mind. But it had bad hitboxes (all shots went to the legs), so it was replaced quickly by the Timber Wolf (OP!) and finally by the Jenner IIC (speed is life).

I haven't yet, but I think I will do just that. I run my SMN Prime stock when I do run it, limitations and all (it's a shockingly tanky chassis, even with only 3/4 max armor), but in TT I ran mine with a SSRM6 in the LT w/1 ton of ammo, and added a second ton for the LB-X.
I even made an IS BAttlemech inspired by the SMN Prime, though again used SSRMs, a Snub Nosed PPC, and a RAC5 in the LA.
But I think after I eat, I may fore up the client on my Clan Acct and do just that.
It's funny about the Griffin... it was always one of my fave Mediums, my definite fave of the Triplets, etc, but oddly I have never used on until MWO. In Mediums I always ended up in Centurions, and I had an Assassin pilot. (and I think I did one early game in a Hatchetman but that character ended up in a Marauder D very shortly... though it needed a new, hatchet free cockpit to get up and running)

Also, only gains 4 rounds for the LBX< and 2 racks for the LRM15, so naw, not really worth it.

Same demo - also the MAD IIC - although in the game i changed towards Warhammer IIC - later I played as many missions as possible in the Warhammer IIC. In MW2 Mercs -the Thug... and so on.
In MW3 when I got the Summoner I kept it... same for MW4 campaign but this time the Uziel (with exception of the city maps)

Strange thing is in TT the 55t Stooping Hawk seems to be the better Summoner - it lacks heat sinks and fixed jump jets but keeping it stock I think it is close.
5/8 /5 is a great movement profile - and the Summoner Prime (minus the armor) can deal the same hurt as the 5t heavier Falconer -hands down the best IS heavy available (because of 5/8/5 plus er range weapons)
a pitty that the time for those kind of Mechs died in 2013 - was the last time I used a CTF-3D with Gauss and ERPPC as heavy cavalry mech that was able to flip through enemy lines (shooting down on a Stalker - that turn to look in that direction but didn't look up. To flip behind the enemy line and put a Gauss and ERPPC at long range into a Raven
a duel with a Splash Cat were I jumped over the target and put both shots in its rear causing an ammunition explosion.... gone everything gone because of pop tarting and the conversion of jump jets into hover jets.

This is where it seems like that ammo count boost is nicer for ammo-boating mechs with lots of dakka or missiles, where the number of bonus rounds across all 10+ tons of ammo might, maybe, be nice.
Then again, I have to trade off somewhere for those points ... so probably status quo then.

My first contact with BattleTech-related games (so assuming Robotech and Macross anime don't count ...) was Mechwarrior 3050 on the SNES. I rented it from the video store back in the days when that was a thing we did.

That's nice. (if true).
There are a load of variants I badly want like the PXH-7S (6 energy HP and MASC), the BSW-L1 (big gun in the arm), or the MAD-9M (Marauder with ECM and missile HP in each torso). And many more.
I would pay for some of them if priced reasonably.

Yep. It looks like initially, only the 3060+ variants will be able to equip the new weapons. That's a controversial decision...
(all my IS heavies and assaults are crying right now - they wanted light engines)

Then I think you misunderstood.
ALL units can equip the new tech, they just will be using default and existing weapon models, etc, for the time being, unless I heard wrong.

At least you can use that 1.5 tons left and that single missile hardpoint to put a Rocket Launcher 20. Good when the enemy hugs you.

Sure, and for some missile hardpoint starved designs, it has a niche place, potentially. Kind of like how I can get use of Light Ferro on my LFE Hunchback.
Doesn't make either particularly desirable as a whole, but it beats a kick to the kidneys. But so many of the "viable" RL variants of the Dark Age, etc, were packing 10+ RL packs, since the only way to reload an RL is to have a second RL, lol.
They should at least allow 2 per hardpoint, or something.

Lol I can see B33F loading up an Archer or something with all the rocket launchers possible.
