What you guys are thinking about the new tech? There are lots of options, but nothing beats the Light Fusion Engine.

I think the new is a surprisingly great improvement and gives some interesting options. The clans didn't get much, but Heavy Lasers, Micro Lasers, and ATMs each have given interesting new possibilities and require adaptation to use effectively, which is very fun. The IS now has some brutal weapons but its the "catch up" weapons that have surprised me the most. I cam across a centurion with 3x S-SRM 6 while in a Jenner yesterday and it was more terrifying!

In regard to the next mechs coming up, the Clans are in NEED of mechs at the 20, 25, 40, 60, 70, and 80 ton levels. Unfortunately, the 60 and 70 ton mechs available are sparse with the Glass Spider being one of the few options, resembling the IS Rifleman but seems the most reasonable option I see.

We pretty much know that the Piranha is coming the next pack and because a mech from each weight class has been given in the new civil war packs, it's a bit of a toss up as to what the 2nd mech will be. Personally, I'd like to see another 40 ton mech released, like the Phantom or Pouncer. The Phantom would likely be too similar to the Piranha and thus the Pouncer would provide a better contrast to Piranha, but the Cougar's fresh installment also likely excludes the Pouncer.

So predictions so far is

Piranha
Glass Spider.

I'll have a look at the IS side soon and update my post about my predictions then.

Clans are getting a 40 tonner (Arctic Wolf) and a 70 tonner (Nova Cat) soon with the Civil War Escalation.

For the other weights:

20 tons = Fire Moth or Piranha
25 tons = Fire Falcon or Locust IIC
60 tons = Thresher or Hellfire (great potential, but with limited number of canonical variants, just 2)
80 tons = Warhammer IIC or Phoenix Hawk IIC

Rifleman IIC is a much better mech than the Glass Spider.

As much as I love the Warhammer IIC, I'm not above admitting that the Pheonix Hawk IIC might be a better choice, as the Pixi IIC offers a lot of build verity in the variants.

Clans could also use another 95 tonner, insert Turkina and good alternative to the EXE (though both suffer from being to close to the extremes on thier respected spectrum)

Turkina is very slow and considering the other slow assaults PGI has done will most likely move like a brick. I would prefer the Blood Asp and it's actually highly likely considering it was basically the testbed for Heavy Lasers.

Blood Asp is a 90 tonner though, and there's already been two Clan 90 tonners released this year.

Russ has said Piranha's coming.

Need some more options though, so:

Light: Piranha
Medium: Vulcan
Heavy: Crusader (rethinking this)
Assault: Warhammer IIC

Edit, DERP: too much ClanTech, revising

Why only one IS mech in that group?

But Blood Asp would be the first 90 tons Clan omnimech!!
(besides, there is really no competition: Blood Asp has everything going on)

Still I caught it before the edit... Posted Image

That being said, the Crusader is actually not a bad choice, it has lots of varaints with lots of verity to chose from, everything from the walking ammo bomb that is the CDR-3R to the stealth ganker that is the CDR-7L..

For MWO that'd give them the following to chose from for variants:

CDR-3R
CDR-3D
CDR-3K
CDR-3L
CDR-4BR
CDR-4D
CDR-4K
CDR-5K
CDR-5M
CDR-5S
CDR-7L

That's 11 varaints!Posted Image

Yep on all points.

I was tempted by a couple others like the Guillotine and the Champion, to be sure.

Champion has such a big mix of variants, including some with NewTech, iirc.

IS is getting a bit thin in the medium range, but I didn't figure PGI would go light+medium for the ClanTech, so that meant an IS medium. I just had to decide who got the heavy and the assault.

Nothing left but to wait ;)
