Admittedly joining the club of the "disappointed at the missed opportunity". Besides the fact that the game NEEDS more lights, they also missed the opportunity to finish off any of the remaining original classics before they jumped in with the Marauder II. At least it's still a classic, just not one of the missing original "unseen" still to be reimagined (Wasp, Stinger, Valkyrie, Crusader, and Longbow).
I would have much more loved seeing a Wasp/Stinger combo pack. The Crusader would have been great, as well.
However, the saddest loss is the fact that the Marauder II is now the MWO pre-order tie-in. That just doesn't seem like the mech to really use if you wanted to drum up hype for pre-orders. I would think some other, much more iconic, classic would have been the better choice *cough*Crusader*cough*. I guess PGI just thinks that the chassis tonnage value is going to win the day for pre-order hype.
On the other hand, the Pre Order deals aren't that bad, at all. The Founders get a nice -and well deserved- nod with double the MWO MC Bonus, as well. I think I'll still be waiting for the first reviews and/or a preview of just how mod-friendly the game will be (it better be really frigging mod-friendly, especially if it's going to have MWO "balance" in place), before I consider getting a copy.
EDIT: On a side note the MAD II Hero is extremely disappointing and lackluster . . . it's a jumping King Crab with mediocre hardpoints. I'd rather have the KGC-008, as it's much more unique, and then make a MAD II Hero that's not a King Crab.
