I think like the word "awesome" we need a new word for the level of gorgeousness.
This is clearly dragonfire

Yeah jjm1 really nailed this one! I'm super happy that he decided to put extra effort into it.

Come post your support in the DFire thread. =D

From the Marauder II store page:

Quote

Pre-order your Marauder II Package before Feb. 28th 11:59:59 (PST) (Mar. 1st 7:59:59 UTC) and receive the following items as an added bonus when the Marauder II ships Apr. 16th 2019.

So, no new mech for a month... :(

(at least we have jjm1 now)

The size of recent patches and their speeches at MechCon make it pretty clear that they're almost entirely devoted to trying to ensure that MW5 is pushed out on time. I don't blame them, there. MW5 really is going to be make or break for PGI.

While the art team probably is taking the smallest hit, as far as needing to devote resources to MW5, they probably still need to do texture and animation conversions into the Unreal engine . . . as well as possibly new damage art. That wouldn't just be for the different engine, but also because MW5 seems to be getting built for much better graphical capabilities than anything MWO has right now. Lets face it, MWO -despite PGI's version of CryEngine having CPU hogging architecture- is made to run on pretty low spec machines; and it's not made to have a very high top end compared to modern titles. All of that is going to cut into the available resources to make new mechs.

On the bright side, though, the more effort PGI puts into the new Unreal engine, the more likely we'll actually see MWO convert over to the new engine if MW5 is successful. PGI is too small of a studio to really split developer efforts between two extremely different game engines; and MWO's CryEngine is in dire need of an update/replacement. Here's hoping MW5 is wildly successful.

Rifleman IIC. Looks like PGI wants to knock out easy wins for themselves, while pushing for the MW5 release. I must admit, I'm impressed with the look. The radar dish isn't obscenely large and overbearing on the model. It should end up with respectable hit boxes and reasonably decent variants.

Arms are going to be big targets, with even less non-arm hardpoints than the IS Rifleman. I'm expecting some sizable arm armor/structure and maybe some ST structure quirks, to keep the arms from being lost too fast.

It's a Clan Battlemech with high-mounted hardpoints. Getting any quirks at all would be a miracle.

Did you look at the engine cap on most of those variants? It'll be a sitting duck without some quirks.

Yes I have seen the caps, I warned about this to the Roflman IIC fans months ago. I would've preferred the Sun Spooder for this very reason. I'm still not optimistic based on PGI's quirking track record.

Indeed. But then, it is not like PGI has never released subpar Mechs... Posted Image

Meh. If it's subpar then it's subpar. Regardless, I think it's great for all of the people that have been advocating for the mech for some time, now. At least it looks amazing. Alex certainly worked his magic on the Rifleman IIC.

Also, it has two of its variants with a respectable 315 engine cap, which will at least ensure that those two should be solid, no matter what.

Given PGI's record of releasing classics with better than average quirks/stats and then nerfing later if needed (especially after the issues of the Phoenix Hawk), they'll at least be somewhat more likely to give the Rifleman's weaker variants some compensation quirks. If the Marauder IIC is any indication, PGI is not afraid to err on the side of OP, for a classic, rather than err on the side of a subpar release.

Yeah the Rifleman IIc will need the Anni/BH treatment as far as it's engine cap goes. That'd be the only "quirking" that it'd need.

Meh. If it's subpar then it's subpar.

If that is the case, people won't play it. It's that simple.

Sorry, I heart this too often: Uziel, Hellspawn, Thanatos, Cougar... Everytime some people said quirks will save the day, or that the fans will play it even if it is not great. But that is not what happened.

The Rifleman IIC might turn out to be ok, especially the -2 and the -A. With quirks they could even be very good. I just would not count on it, especially when it comes to the slower variants.

It's probably worth a buy, since I do love the Rifleman (but for some reason, not so much the Jagemech)

So, what do we hope for/expect next?

I'm hoping for the Nexus or Raijin for the IS

For Clan, I expect the Locust IIC, Shadow Hawk IIC or Phoenix Hawk IIC, but I want the Black Python

For IS, I'm hoping Stinger/Wasp dual pack or bust. If not, then it has to be a new Crusader. They can port it to MW:5, and license it over to HBS' BattleTech. Win/Win/Win.
