Earlier, I've read someone's predictions that no-one but the big units that field those 12-man-on-comms groups will be present in CW, & soon, they are going to QQ about having nobody to play CW with.

Now with the Stocking Stuffer event all over, the PUGs are going back to the solo queue & leaving CW behind. I'm starting to feel that this prediction is all too true unless something is done to make them want to stay, because right now, there's no reason for them to stay. & truthfully, those 12-man groups on voice comms are hastening their decision to stay away from CW.

With that, when will those big units start complaining that they've got nobody to play CW with?

Let's be really serious for real here.

It's a java map.
You have to open gates so you can rush OGs.
It takes place on MOBA stages that aren't very good.
MWO is in its 3rd year of life. It's only proper to expect more.
CW was the game's hype feature.
Clans are uber OP, and make life very unfun for IS players.
Unless you can play very close to ceasefire, your contributions don't really matter much.
The pay/XP is far lower than it should be.
MWO's balance/flavor of the month is fully exposed in CW.
It's supposedly a social warfare kind of thing, yet the game only has the barest, most primitive social functions. I used to play text-based browser games with better social features than this.

I know for a fact I didn't wait years for this, and as a result, I don't play CW. Maybe they'll fix it, maybe they won't.

It's got nothing to do with 12 manz on voice chat. Nothing. Zero.

Open gates? I suppose you want to win by just running somewhere ? But the gameplay is boring .. no doubts there.

Clans uber OP?

If anything they are underpowered compared to IS right now... IS have a lot of advantages over the clans thanks to the quirk system and nerfing of the clans in general ... And why would they make the clans OP with the resistance collection in view? makes no sense at all if you want people to buy it! But making IS OP will get people to buy it ... it's all marketing and common sense!

The real epidemic is probably of the poor gameplay that is CW , yes rewards can be low for time spent , but if you were actually having fun then that would not be so bad. 12 mans probably love it after all they get to stomp PUGS again!

Any ELO system would be a nightmare to implement given that each player has an ELO for each weight and the limited player base. You would have to create more dynamic queues that took a larger portion of players into consideration rather than players choosing which planet to attack or defend.
Besides the MM and ELO system doesn't work too well in solo as it is so no way it would work in CW.

CW is still far away from what it should be , even for a bolt on this smells of a release that has had little thought go into it. The map creation just seems to go along with the usual line of map making.Probably too much trying to keep everyone happy

The biggest killer is probably the queue system though , no one like standing in a queue for long periods of time and it starts getting very excessive after a while!

IM pretty sure we dont need an ELO for CW....That will turn it into the same nightmare as the normal Q, a few good players laden down with a heap of 0 game trial newbies against a 12man premade...game after game..after game...

ELO needs to leave entirely, upto and including the normal Q. just pick 12 mechs following 3/3/3/3 and go....that is all the more a MM should do. No rigging based on your personal WR....

It will let good players be good, and if they end up with a 90% Win rate, then cool. There is no need to penalize good play by sticking them with a really high ELO, therefore trying to "balance" out that skill with a mound of 0 game newbs for 100 games until the player's score is lessened a bit. That is just plain stupid.

In my mind, a "Skill based" MM consists of pitting similar skilled players on same teams against other similar skilled players...so yeah, basically bunching people into maybe 5-7% win rate differences and tossing them on a team together. If a player is actually good and in the baddie Q, maybe eventually the player will play enough, maybe start to rise above the ranks of the scrubs and move up.....

The Q doesnt even have significant numbers to drop......I never see more then 40 people in the Q at any one time....ive seen maybe twice its 60+/50 or so....but its on one planet...

If I had to conclude, pugs either dont join CW or not that many people play MWO...

Vass... really? Clans get the short end of the stick in CW. the IS DD of 2x TDR's (1x PPC and 1x MPL boat) + DRG-1N + FS9-A is the most broken thing we have ever seen. Nothing like seeing a 48-0 victory. Clans just can't match it.

As for rewards... I can master a mech in a day with the XP I make in CW added tot he fact that I'm making a few million c-bills a night.

EDIT: As for the queue sizes... We've never had issues getting drops. Always plenty of people playing.

Loss of more pugs/casuals in CW=soon its not like a lot played CW during the tournament anyway maybe a few thousand.

I have seen the game decline in numbers for 3 years this account was made because PGI/staff are ban happy about anyone who tries to show how incompetent they really are.

I miss the MSN Gamming Zone and mechwarrior4 multiplayer where you could chat play form groups and play 10+ game modes on over 500 maps for Solaris 1v1-12v12 matches to role-play and PVE.

MWO even with CW is just a very shallow grind filled game compared to past PC MechWarrior titles.

Oddly enough, the solo PUGs aren't going away. I was hoping some of them would....most especially the guys that don't actually own enough Omni's to drop in Mastered, customized 'mechs with modules.

Don't misunderstand, not all of us "PUGs" are entirely useless. Some of us get into the concept of mission objectives that are more complicated than "stand still, zoom in, wait to be facerolled."

The downside is that it would appear that a significant portion of the flotsam and jetsam of new players that join the game, get frustrated because they can't figure out how to play and then leave are also interested in that as well. Unfortunately, at least on the Clan side, that means a bunch of people with very little skill, virtually no coordination (and depending on the time of day, no ability to communicate if they wanted to) and the worst possible trial mechs will be filling the ranks.

Make no mistake about it. When you hear the whining and crying here about how the Clans are OP in CW, they're referring to the ones that are owned, customized, mastered and moduled to the gills. The "stock" trial mechs were never good to begin with (much like the IS Heroes and Champions), then after Paul beat them to death with his hockey racket, some of them were rendered completely unplayable. And yet, due to drop deck restrictions such as "you MUST have 4 mechs. So there," they have no choice to pick one of those because it's the only one in that particular weight class.

That's yet another thing to point out about the whole OP thing. We didn't get any "first pass of quirks" nonsense. We don't have anything that can mount 3 PPCs and just crack away like the Tunderbolts can. We've got one mech per weight class, they've got several in some cases. We're limited to two chassis that can carry ECM...they've got a lot more. Yeah....don't whine about OP. It's not your opponent's fault if your faction has a religious aversion to counter electronic countermeasures or getting paid for doing it.

I've got no idea what they're going to do to fix it, if anything. If the solo queue is any example, I predict the entire situation will be completely ignored until the "focus group" (large, organized units that funnel cash and prizes to PGI) demands action. On twitter, because this isn't the proper place to communicate with them. Reddit used to be good, too, until they got their potty room privileges revoked.

Clans be OP and IS Lights/Quirkmonster official exploits.

CW - last 3 hours b4 Ceasefie matter - the side that can field bigger numbers may be able to harvest ccucial Autowins (which at leat 2 were crucial for holding a planet) when the outnumbered side is fully oocupied and cant man a defensive at all contested planets.
I got 3 Autowins yesterday short b4 ceasefire - sadly Kurita (where i have offered my Gun Services for Hire to) has missed to bring 2 Groups to a Planet (Dromini) that had been an easy defense while the Clan Front as usual got lost.

Clans be OP and IS Lights/Quirkmonsters offical exploits and 12 mans will play themself IF they live in the right Timezone - if not they dont matter anyway.

We already do that outside of CW, the third party tournaments are still more important, more fun and better than CW is.

BINGO! We have a winner!

And until PGI takes down the barriers that prevent new players from engaging in fun, balanced game-play, this game will only continue to hobble along upon the legs of the few remaining whales, until the ROI goes red, and then we will have another MPBT:3025 scenario.

Only this time, it will involve pulling the plug on "investors" who will see their dollars evaporate like the wind.

Prepare yourself. They have already stated that development will continue only with continued (and increased) cash flow. Look it up yourself.

That ain't happening, as any 1st year MBA can tell you, based on the fire sales that keep increasing in frequency and the development that continues to decrease, the cash flow ain't happening.

CW, the promised savior, has delivered only two maps, five gates, broken mechanics, after more than five years in development. Yes, FIVE years, despite what you might say. I should know. I've been following this train wreck for FIVE years.

The future looks grim.

Yeah, the trailer in 2009 made this game look 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000x more epic then this outcome. Im not usually excited or enthusiastic about anything, but when I saw that 2009 MW5 trailer of the Whammy and the Fatlas, I was very excited and looking forward to this game. When I finally joined in the beta and saw it was nothing more then World of Tanks with mechs I instantly lost all enthusiasm for this game.

I keep holding out hope that the game will truly develop into something awesome, but expect that it wont. At this point, like my location under my avatar says...im just waiting for MWO PVE and see how it ends up playing out.

CW is amusing for a very short duration, but I can see its little more then the Battlefield series Rush modes, and I seriously loathe Rush mode. I much prefer something more along the lines of the Men of War series, slow, tactical, thought out.....the banzai tactic doesnt register in my mind well..I have a hard time doing it...

The NetBattleTech leagues were, in my opinion, the best examples of "community warfare" for the mechwarrior titles. Why?

Because they were built upon one time purchase games.

CW is inappropriate for the F2P model. Just sayin'
