What Cimarb, Jaroth, and friends fail to understand is this:

It matters absolutely nothing whether or not the Mercs were asked to come. You don't need to ask us, because YOU ARE NOT THE FACTION. The faction is a PGI-controlled NPC. As Luoki said, you can try to influence things cooperatively, but don't presume to dictate policy.

We are here, we're trying to play the game. I play CW for fights against various teams with various tech matchups, under the new game mode, while also advancing a map for whoever I contract under. I'm not interested in not fighting. I don't play CW to obey the whims some self-important "I AM TEH ILKHAN - RESPECT MAH AUTHORATEH" roleplayers with delusions of running the show.

What you fail to understand is that you are complaining about nothing to attack, when YOU chose to join a faction that...wait for it...has nothing to attack! No one forced you to chose CSJ, nor any other faction. The only people responsible for this situation is your unit.

They have CGB to attack. And then when we suggest doing it, we're suddenly terrible people. If we suggest doing it on our own, we're dezgra rabblerousing trucebreakers (despite signing no truce).

No buddy I understand it quite well. My problem is this, if you want to use IS tech then you sign up with an IS faction & fight the CLANS. If you want to use your Clan tech, sign up with the Clans & fight the INNERSPHERE. You are neither a Successor State nor a Clan; you are a go between but you seem to be the ones to dare to dictate our policy. If you contract with a faction then you are there to help that faction right? Helping the Clans means fighting the IS, helping the IS means fighting the Clans. I do not know how to make it any easier to understand.

Let me put it to you another way. If a guy you never heard of, who never applied to your unit, was never in contact with your members via phonecall, text messaging or e-mail, never been to a meeting on TS3/Ventrilo/Mumble/whatever-you-use, was screenshot using racial slurs & video captured teamkilling, the people in the match presents this to you, what is your reaction?

"Well he has our tags he must be one of us."

OR

"That guy is NOT in our unit. We have no knowledge of him. We do not condone or sanction his actions in any way, shape or form. What he did, in no way reflects our unit."

Don't be a hypocrite.

You guys just showed up, "Yeah SMOKE JAGUAR R0XX0RS, KURITA SUXX0RS! WHOOOOOOOOOO! WE PWNED KUIRTA! YEAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH! GONNA SHOOT US SOME BEARS NOW! WHOOOOOOOOO!"

We have made our stance perfectly clear. We have no ill will to our trothkin but we will tolerate no incursions into our space.

I would think cooler heads could prevail here. I too admit the whole mercenaries role is broken right now at the developers level. There needs to be an actual economy where units/factions pay merc units out of their coffers. A system where merc units would have to bid on contracts and what not. Which would weed out a lot of merc units leaving only those that are worth the money. The rest would have to find gainful employment within other factions....just how I feel about it.
However, they are able to contract where they please and we have to deal with it. The more people rage, the more enemies that will be made. Do you see any benefit from throwing more gas on the fire? I do not.
You lost some planets...we cannot win them all. All we can do is fight with honor and dignity.

Actually came across several coordinated pug drops using your public TS and they put up a hell of a fight last night. Made it interesting. Looking forward to hopefully seeing more fights like that...

Good I look forward to more of them too. It sounds like other HK units are getting more active so things will be more interesting.

I would much rather face a worthy opponent in the Jaguar, then beat up on the Steiner dogs :D

Where does it say that Clans should only fight IS and IS should only fight Clans? Oh, that's right. Nowhere.

I feel the same Gas Guzzler, WE have the battlefield here to play on. Just need to bolster your forces a little more! I already LOVE when we drop against a NS 12 man or ARKB 12. Always good fight and never any BS in chat from either units. Good dudes to shoot at  so im sure shooting with them would be that much more fun!

I wish to see a Kurita force it would takes us days to get by...that would be epic. If they could all as eventful as Turtle bay was the first week of CW.

Right... and they agree with your assessment that this implies there should be no Clan vs Clan conflict in their non-cannon version of CW, so they disabled intra-Clan warfare entirely. Oh, wait...

We fight each other in regular drops. CW is about a specific time period in Battletech history when the Clans UNITED TO FIGHT THE INNERSPHERE. Now go get the next ball. Seems you don't learn.

This. We want to fight honorable, proud units, not people that have to swap factions just to stir the pot because they cannot succeed otherwise.

Clans fight each other in Trials, not planetary warfare. We will have plenty of time for shenanigans when we reach Terra and initiate the greatest Grand Melee ever witnessed!

As do I. Hopefully you will be getting an influx of mercs soon as well, which should broaden your fronts and make for some very entertaining fights. See you on the field.

*Facepalms* Guys come on. We settled this already. Mercs will be mercs. All we can do is state our individual unit's position on the matter and move on. No need to harass or insult each other.

Tell them that. They jumped in, rocked the boat then want to be madder than us. We were going along about our merry business but how long were we going to ignore them? I am not making anything up. Everything I said has been factually accurate.

hey cimbarb, hit this one out the park then........

how is it perfectly acceptable for CGB merc units to join a steiner contract to keep beating up on the FRR, and yet turn about ISNT fair play?

its ok, ill wait till u can come up with some BS to justify it.

oh wait, u CANT!!!! AHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!11........2

oh....did i just point out the elephant in the room that all u clanners are being SO careful to avoid speaking about?

Who said it was acceptable?

I personally never heard of MS or STS before CW because I have never gone into the IS section of the forums. Whether or not other members of my unit had heard of them before CW, I cannot say. What I know for sure is, when CW was launched, we knew there would be three factions, IS, Clans & Mercs. Going by the lore, the mercs worked for the IS to fight the Clans. We had NO idea they would be able to fight for us or that for them to even attempt to do so, could be done without our approval since in the lore, the employer had to sign off on the merc unit in question via a rigid contract.

We found out at the beginning of CW that Wolf had attacked us because we had attacked them & wondered how that could be, because we were never given orders to do so. We had our invasion corridor & were focused on that. It was at the beginning we found out it was a merc unit flying our flag but we could not do anything about it. We then entered into formal negotiations with Wolf to discuss the events that took place which led to the NAP.

It is called the truth. As the saying goes, "The truth is like a lion; you don't have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself."

P.S. Also note I said MY Clan meaning CGBI. I did not, do not & cannot speak for CSJ to whether or not they had knowledge of the merc units in question.

I bid you good day sir.

Worth what money? You don't pay mercs anything, PGI pays the mercs. You got a ton of free units to help you in taking planets and defending planets. I seriously do not see how that is a problem. I also don't see how neglecting other merc groups there rights to do contracts for factions would be better off. They have every right to play CW as you do though that does not matter because as stated, PGI is CSJ and you are not. All I see in this topic is a bunch of CSJ people thinking they are high and mighty.

A coffer system would produce the same results as not everybody in CSJ is on there high horse. They would hire the same merc groups for contracts, other CSJ will berate them and sooner or later those merc groups will resent being constantly berated. They will join with Kurita to take back your planets or they will join with CGB when they finally turn back on your "alliance".

If you look at it realistically, Faction units can't afford Mercs. If you want to pay me to sit on my thumbs and not attack forum allies, you will have to pay me at least as much money as I could be making grinding bear corpses right now or there's no benefit for us. That's about 2-3 million an hour per player using myself as a test case (700k/game, 112.5k win bonus, 20 minutes to grind 48 pugs, Premium Time included because there is no bonus applied to space wire transfers).

You think you can afford to pay my unit of ~20 pilots 45 million c-bills per hour out of your unit coffer? Dream on.

Edit: I realize this represents a worst-case scenario, where you're basically paying mercs not to play CW at all. But this isn't all that farfetched considering the current state of Kurita's defenses, and the ginormous queue times on Clan Defense.
