it depends i would say yes if it was compairible or in my favor but if he was in a catapult (butterbee varient) and i was in a jenner i would just narc him and laugh it up as he went up in flames. Not saying that i would disrespect the honor of the ziberelin just that if he has a sever advantage i would probably not do it. I would if it is between friends! cause that would be a fun way to end a match.

butterbee varient of the catapult is four SRM6's and four medium lasers; in its essance a close range monster.

After reading the pages of comments stating they would ignore the challenge, I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

In a game of survival? You take any advantage you can get.

In a one-on-one duel? Royally kick his *** and make an example out of him. Brandish dominance, not as a measure of one's pride, but as a warning.

First off love this thread and better yet the responses.
Personally:
As an IS house member with the possible exception of the DC the answer is no. Victory for ones house above personal honour/distinction.
As a merc the answer is a "Hell No". Dady needs a new PPC and those c-bills aint gonna make themselves.
As a clanner then yes. More importantly as a clanner i would probably be the first to suggest it.

On the flip side of the coin if i were the "1" in this particular equation then I won't bother asking. Come get some.

Silly me... I answered with "Yes" before reading the entire OP.
I.S. warrior versus I.S. warriors. There is no Zellbrigen. The single warrior's options are Fight, Withdraw or Surrender.
I changed my response to "I will decline" and offer the aforementioned options.

Mind you, if it was an epic fight until then and I respected the courage of the enemy pilot, then I would consider it and honour it if we agreed to do it.

Naturally, I'd honor his request. However, I'd instruct my clan-mates that if I go down, they should blow him back to whatever god he believes in.

I'd type "No, die" and proceed to blow the **** out of him with my team mates. Honour, lol

The rules don't state that when it's 3v1 you have to face each other 1v1. So basically, it is his right to call for some word I've never heard before, but it's also my right to trick him into showing himself and having my teammates light him up.

I would honour it and then make a bet of who would win between my lance mates to con them out of C-Bills then bring out the popcorn and video the whole battle for IS-tube ( YouTube of the future )

In a Closed Beta test? Sure - there are no consequences; you can't lose territory, rank, or anything of the sort.

If it's all for fun, then why not?

All is fair in in love and war. Agree to it then gun them down without remorse.

Ya, do it in the SCA quite a bit. Honor is Honor, matters not if you are cloaked in the anonymity of the internet or not, it's your honor to earn or loose.

I will say it's rather interesting to see the honorless responses from warriors affiliated with the combine. I imagine the Gunji-no-Kanrei is dissapoint.

Also, why did this end up in the clan section? Aside from the unfortunate use of a clan word for single combat the OP made it clear it wasn't about the clans.

Quote

What is that “honor”? Air. A trim reckoning. Who hath it? He that died o' Wednesday. Doth he feel it? No. Doth he hear it? No. 'Tis insensible, then? Yea, to the dead. But will it not live with the living? No. Why? Detraction will not suffer it. Therefore, I’ll none of it. Honor is a mere scutcheon.

I shall neither give nor request any quarter in battle; you may have your honor, I prefer something much more tangible.

Respectfully yours,
Merle, Pirate of the Inner Sphere and the Periperhy
