Ok, So Very Happy About The Urbie, But Have To Admit, I Think The "feel" Of The Official Art Is A Bit Off.

I lik the PGI design. The squat one is good too though.

I kind of like the squat better, but either is cool in my book.

I posted this when the teasers first came out.

I tink it would be fine if they just enlarged top torso/shrunk the legs.

I like this one (the right one) best, so far.
The antennas might be a bit to long, tho. ;)

the #4

shorter, but a larger upper torso makes me think urban mech more.

can you imagine developing these from scratch for a new mech to battletech, augh. OR a few rereseen. Then again that might only be a dream.

updated the picture with smaller antennas and a bit bulkier upper torso

this thing looks mean now :P (i suppose its because it looks like an Imperial stormtrooper helmet )

Well, on the plus side, a slimmer profile makes for a harder target to hit.

A squat body never did the Awesome any favors.

I like the squished version a little better as well. Of course if they don't want to do that or cant ill obviously take whatever is produced.

pretty much my stance. Alex did a phenomenal job, as usual. Do think the details of his design are 100%, just not the proportions ( someone noted before that my takes were too "tactical bad***" for the lovable lil guy, too).

Regardless, either way, I am very happy we are going to get Urbie. Am willing to bet that we are either at goal, or 95% as of this writing.

Well based on the miniature (and a bit on the Sarna pic, I'd gather it would look a bit more like this :

Posted Image

a bit larger, legs are kept at the same length. main body is lower and the upper half of it has been widen in a Y shape. Still not the trash can look but a bit closer to what people have been salivating about since ... well forever on these forums ;)
(ps: weapons are kept in proportion from the original design)

I like it, though it does become wider on yours, which does feed into Ultimatum's complaint.

can only do a poll in feature suggestions.

Might also suggest, on your poll, make it something like ; "which version is your favorite? Second Favorite, third? etc. With each being assigned a value of 1-4.

Then which ever gets highest total number of points, would reasonably, be the "most popular" or , more to point, most agreed upon.

that would also work, because the waist is now not that slim anymore.

agreed. Though I must say, (and it sounds odd, considering the nature of the OP) I'm not really for totally trashing Alex's design. And don't think they would do so,l regardless. I do think some of the more...interesting manipulations probably realistically, won't happen.

But I have been wrong before! :D

refer to my argument with Ultimatum. I haven't checked all the manipulations, but the one in the OP is absolutely no wider than the original.

I get that, but you can only stretch the guys work like taffy so far, before it loses almost all the "design" of the original work.

There are a few on here that have taken Urbie from looking like Barney to looking like the KoolAid MAn

See, to me, even with the stubbier versions, it's that sleek 'waist' that is the biggest thing that makes it look too skinny.

The aesthetic of the Cockpit Item is actually pretty good and has the wider waist.

and I doubt we will see that radical a revision (not to mention it would then be a death trap....Urbie may be viewed by some as a "joke", a mech plush toy, but he's a tanky lil SoaG.)

He was a Tanky Son of a Gun... He won't be that here I think.

mostly because of unlimited armor for everyone. It's one reason I say his most important quirks have to be something like substantial IS buffs, maybe moderate armor buffs, or even better (but less likely) some good old damage reduction like the old missile doors gave (just of a higher scale)

He will never out dps or outrun other lights. He should be able to out-tough them.

Why do we even have the official orthos? We have never seen them for any other mech.

Was the ground work for the Urbie done years ago but because of the lack of quirks and engine problems they simply turned the model into the top hat urbie cockpit item?

If so we already know what the in game model will resemble.

because one of the Devs posted them?

Knocking out orthos don't take much time, TBH.

I'm not talking a massive revision to make it look like

But something like:

with a bigger waist (either taller or shorter), would fix a lot of the skinniness, which is an element of the classy urb statue.

In regards to the bottom picture, I'm leaning more towards the one on the right. However, the hips seem a bit wide, but then again nearly everything in MWO has egregious thigh gap. It's like they're trying to give birth to Elementals in the field or something...

Yeah, really....the Awesome, Atlas, Centurion, each of those could be quite a bit thinner and shorter if only they would close up the legs a little on those mechs. They stand like double shoulder width apart.....it is goofy for sure.
