Ok, So Very Happy About The Urbie, But Have To Admit, I Think The "feel" Of The Official Art Is A Bit Off.

But something like:

with a bigger waist (either taller or shorter), would fix a lot of the skinniness, which is an element of the classy urb statue.

even classy urbie has less of a spare tire than your version, lol. I get what you are saying, but possibly a slightly less extreme take. It makes me think that Urbie is wearing a pool floaty

I like the modified, more 'rounder' Urbie.

I started a thread for voting in the best UrbanMech.

Here are the options so far:

(BTW, how do I add a poll?)

It will be a unfair poll bias for the shortest. The only thing your suppose to care about is the proportion. they should all be same height.

I haven't bought one. No money for it.
Will try to get it for c-bills when we are having urbie-only matches.

not true.

A skinny model will invariably be taller

Your logic is flawed.

A programmer/designer calls the height as he wills. He can have a 2 foot tall skinny urbie and a 2 foot tall fat urbie next to him.
This line up would be more "fair". Else everyone would pick #2.....who you picked #2 ? no kidding me too he was the shortest.

Posted ImageEdit: All the sudden that #4 starts looking good.......we got a bias for the shortest.

again, not really. YEs the programmer CAN throw physics out the window. Within reason they have. But by your won logic then any mech can be any size and shape, even 2 mechs of identical tonnage.

Balance requires there be some parity. Thus a skinny mehc has to taller than a fat one, of the same tonnage.

Otherwise, skinny always wins because of hitboxes.

then we have the advertised urbie: it looks ok as well, but this is caused because some part of the feet is hidden, and the strangen 45 degree angle of view is a bit mind tricking at this part, (ot makes the upper part look wider as it is, while it makes the legs slimmer than they are) and so we hardly recognise this wrong proportions here..

Posted Image

but on the real graphical sketch, it is very visible whats wrong, proportions are off

I am not sure if anyone else noticed but the Urbanmech here looks rather small. Especially when you notice the leg of another mech peeking at the left if the image. You start getting a better idea just how small it really is. To my eye anyway.

I believe that mech leg you see is from an Atlas, so it might be smaller than the commando, not sure I don't own a commando.

Maybe the proportions need to be adjusted, but I think there needs to be a skirt between the legs and torso. Ovion's suggestion might be a bit too much, but I think something like that should be there.

that's actually a Hunchback, and the distance/perspective is impossible to tell, and also has not been indicative of scale in the past
(you can actually see it's part of the full panoramic backdrop the concept arts are always displayed on)

concept art and game model scale have seldom been very close

But it still gives you an idea what it might actually be close to. But I am just happy we are getting the Urbie finally. And yes, I bought it the moment I noticed it.
I'd like it to be a bit on the fat short side but I'll take what ever they come out with. I understand that there are certain limitations to the size and shape of mechs animation so I'll take it when it comes and have fun with it no matter what. :)

I hope it's really tiny. It's a cockpit with legs and a gun strapped to it where half the tonnage is in the gun.

Remember that unique Geo is going to be something else...right? (the one without 360 visor) Look at the roundness bishop.....That was beautiful mech. I also liked deputy dog v1 too.

I don't want the urbie to be half the size of a spider, once you get under the 8m mark it because very difficult to explain how a full sized adult fits in the head of the mech.

considering how wide the urbies head is, there is no issue with fitting into it til you hit about 6.5 meters or shorter.

You are talking about an Atlas head that grew legs.

this was a reference put together
for a full 3d model of a 7m urbanmech

This picture made me realize something...

...the in game models are often times smaller than their TT counterparts, in relation to other mechs in game.
