PGI puts out a tournament that discourages the killstealing play style, and yet somebody still complains?
You have to win the damn match by killing people, that's the objective of the game, someone has to kill enemies or nobody gets any points. Making kills worth less than assists encourages pulling punches, it's absurd. If they were both worth the same amount of points then people could just play how they usually do and not worry about accidentally getting kills and lowering their score.

TK damage penalty has to be increased.. we all do it, but my normal game is 3-5 points of team damage. Folks that complain about lights running ahead and swallowing AC20 rounds have to suck it up.
"OMG he ran in front of me". Yeah, sure, did you pull up? I spectate a lot, playing DWF in PUG queue,m and I can tell you that, at my Elo, folk shoot thru their team-mates.
Just the other side of the coin. IMHO we need a 1k * team damage cbill penalty.

team damage isn't always your own fault though. You sometimes don't have time to swing wide to avoid it. It happens, it doens't need to be penalized since it is so often out of your control.
I mean, I killed a raven today and he ran in front of me, mid beam duration and he popped...nothing I could do about it. I'm focused on dealing damage to an enemy part and wham, there he is.

I don't understand why they needed to make a kill worth less than an assist. Now before I kill something I literally stop and ask myself "do I think I did enough assists yet"?
I don't like having to consider gaming the scoring system when I should just be killing enemies like I usually do.

kills should be worth the same as assists; you aren't encouraging kill stealing if they have the same value.
PGI's cbill earnings formula has learned this lesson, so I'm not sure why they keep forgetting it when they do events.

this...
i've done this in a few rounds because the kill isn't worth it. If its a good round I have to or I won't hit 130.

Obviously people would end up carrying, this already happens in Solo queue anyhow...but it would benefit everyone to actually try as the multipliers would be higher with more concerted efforts.
I know people will throw a stink at the suggestion, but if you elo is already based on wins and losses then who cares, well except for winnings. Honestly winnings should be about doing your job anyhow and not individual damage and kills. It's never been fair for light pilots, you know, ones that don't run around in firestarters or spiders.

Encourage team play? You must be joking!

Unless you hit with a stray AC20 round, it's not a consideration (for folks playing responsibly). Grazing with lasers is not what this is about.

Go further; 50% of reward is w/l bounty.. the rest as it is now (scaled by 50%).
Team damage should STILL be heavily penalised though, IMHO. I mean, I dont get big (>20) TD numbers, why should anyone else (assuming that I am not awesome..)

4 kills
2 assits
719 damage
128 points
edit:
and 8 assists + 381 damage = enough
so silly

F4T 4L makes a good point. Remove Kills from the equation entirely. That would solve both problems.
Edit: actually, no, that won't work. That's worse than kills at 10 points because they're effectively 0. I was thinking that you always got an assist when you got a kill, but you don't you get a component destruction.

they removed the "you have to win"
They increased assits from 10 to 20 (I think)
so stop complaining; if you can't get 7 assists, you would not get the points on kills either

The perfect system, which discourages kill stealing, encourages players to do meaningful damage, and awards just that "little" bit extra for those that do the most work.
I like that, provided it generates sufficient points. Kills and Assists might need to be 15 points each instead of 10.

lots of rounds that never even happens because you lose like 4<= to 12
I think the complaints are the scoring system is just odd.
like my example above, one round was 128 points the other was 195 and I surely did WAY less the second round than the first.

Right!? Me too..
So wtf is going on with the folks complaining about TD penalties "because lights are so unpredictable"?
I think we all know..
How much of this is related to mechs standing right behind someone else doing some shooting?
Then deciding its a good idea if they shoot the squirrel too?
