Fins required for the Zeus special geometry :P

If they put fins on the Zeus, I might finally have an assault that I like. It's one thing for a mech to be good, but for me, it's gotta look good. That makes up for any amount of performance problems in my book.

What about the faction skins and goodies? Will they be delivered together with the panther and enforcer or do we have to wait until the grasshoper and zeus are delivered?

If they follow the usual pattern the faction goodies will be with the last wave of release

Interesting, I still do nto get the Enforcer head problem, looks the same size as the Centurion.
I do wonder how big the torso hitboxes will be on both.
Did not know the Zeus was coming in March, I thought it said April somewhere.

Thanks for that info Shar. I was wondering the same thing myself just yesterday.

Really? Its so different...not even the same head other than the basic 'dome' shape.

What I think happened is they deformed the head design to increase the vertical view of the mech. HOWEVER, you see that rectangular panel dead center on the bottom? I think that should have been a window too, being the lower part of your vertical view. The side vertical was already large enough, being narrower only where the center and the sides met (I'm consider the 3 panels the side, and the center 3, 4 if you include the rectangular panel, the center view) but that would be a character of the mech, not a flaw and providing a great and unique view/experience. Just like the kit fox has a ridiculously open feeling cockpit, the panels on this mech would have made a unique view and feel to the cockpit. Now we just have a glass dome spreading out in a standard, boring view.

Beyond that, the head shape is just off, its taller, the windows are huge, the cockpit shape is more domed instead of angular now, the entire character is just GONE.

Here is a link to the summary on Reddit: http://www.reddit.co..._bishopsteiner/ .

Good to know Russ at least acknowledges that we're a bit unhappy about the state of the Enforcer's ingame model compared to the concept. Hopefully the art team WILL make time for it... While the Panther was a pleasant release, the Enforcer was the opposite of that coin and left a bad taste in the mouth of many who pre-ordered it. Visual differences between concept and model are expected, but this is comparable to the pictures of food at restaurants on their menu, then you get the food itself and its just sad looking in comparison.

I'm very unhappy with my purchase of the Enforcer. All personality of the concept has been completely lost in the modelling.
I won't pre-purchased anything else, simple as that.

They can. The Catapult model was narrowed to be closer to the concept art during/right after closed beta, IIRC. And they've added dynamic weapon hardpoints to the 'mechs (a few still haven't received this modification). But, "can" and "will" are not the same thing. Which is a shame, because easily half of the in-game models would look a million times better -and even perform better- with nothing more than the same model adjustment the Catapult got. Centurion, Awesome, and Quickdraw are among the most obvious examples.

I see. Well I hope they do so for as many mechs as possible. Bet they could after have released the upcoming ones maybe. For example, would be nice to see a Vulture/ Mad Dog variant with (dynamic?) chin mounted hardpoints, for two lasers or ballistics. Maybe add that to the C variant which has just two ballistic hardpoints for its stock Gauss rifles

@MauttyKoray,

The bottom panel may still be a window, it is colored the same as other window panels.
Bigger windows may be due to the removal of the hexagonal panel above cockpit center. That panel and the sunken cheeks are gone, possibly due to polys, keeping them would have increased poly count possibly affecting performance. Some companies have poly limits on thier models that could have necessitated changes including the more domed shape.

Would you rather a cool looking Mech that screwed up your gameplay?

Sorry this is is simply not true.
A slight change to the cockpit would not require many additional polies, if any. The rest of the issues are simply scaling and proportion problems.
I did some searching about the polycounts of mechs in this game and they are not consistent at all:-

Atlas - 46,808
Stalker - 11,781
Awesome - 16,543
Cataphract - 18,396
Catapult - 21,864
Dragon - 17,521
Centurion - 17,218
Hunchback - 15,945
Cicada - 18,341
Raven - 15,954
Jenner - 16,716
Commando - 18,007

A cicada is 18k polies and a stalker is 11k. Obviously, they have a poly limit of around 20k (ignoring the FIFTY k atlas) and try to stay under that. A few additional polies here or there are irrelevant.

Also, the size of the external cockpit panels seems to be completely irrelevant too. Look at the atlas (left eye).... Compare it to the cockpit of the Griffin.

Thanks for the info Axeface, and no Wildstreak I wouldn't want it to affect my gameplay...but it would. The Enforcer is probably one of the less complex mechs even, and as I said I accept that the loss of detail is required because adding them all would not realistically be feasible for time and performance constraints. Plus, I've said before, that I could live with the differences on the rest of the mech (the chest area has 2-3 that could be taken care of though and make it look nicer...) if the head were fixed. Before it gave me the thought of the Firestarter...but instead it being his bigger, tougher brother. Even outside of that, the model we got was no longer the Enforcer that had been conceptualized, meanwhile the Panther looks as though it got almost a spot on modeling job.

I can't wait to get my hands on a Panther. I love that mech for some reason, and I don't even like lights. Ran the crap out of it in MW4. Loved it so much I made my first CN9-AL into basically a souped up Panther without JJs. Now I just wish I had money for this.

This post?
You did note the last sentence so the actual count may be different than what Sean Lang posted?

Simply means that Dragons are harder to knock down in melee combat.

I honestly don't mind one bit how the Enforcer looks - and I did have my hopes set high. very curious to see what the special geometry looks like.

I'd be good with those fins if they didn't count as part of the mech.
