Gotta wonder at some of these.....it would be good to understand the thinking behind some of them.

Because on paper they look braindead moves.

You're right. The Arrow is inferior in almost every way. Unless for some reason you want to bring an assault in CW. And even then, if you need the tonnage, you're probably better off with 2 35-tonners and the TDR, instead.

My CW drop deck is two Blackjacks and two Orions... they call me... Un-Meta-Man!

LLs and LPLs are both 7 heat.

Its the same, not 'much less'

"No, with a 'But'" is really the best way to say it.

I mean, no, the base heat isn't different. However, the real difference is in the fact it allows for 6 more DHS. That does make it less heat. I honestly expect more people to go with a bigger engine, honestly, instead of 6 more Heat Sinks, but a lot will likely go some hybrid. Still, 3 LL on an arm mount + an engine letting you go over 100 will give you a good Light Hunting mech.

You can put on more heat sinks AND the burn time/recycle time is longer, so it does have less heat per second over time as well.

I just noticed that they want to make the Arrow (one of my personal Favorites), more vicious...

Well, if you thought I was dangerous before, you're really going to hate me now...

Mostly seems based on trying to make stock loadouts good.

Stock loadout performance does make some sense, if a mech chassis was designed and factory built for a certain weapon then it is understandable that weapon may perform better than average. The ammo feeders and wiring, whatever, will be optimized for that weapon and work better.

Will be winners and losers in that though because some stock loadout designs are bad designs for the games parameters.

Opinions are like bungholes...

I am so sad about my Arrow! I ran an AC20 Arrow since I first bought it, waaaaay before the quirk-ening hit... I was so excited about that. Now... oh well...

I'm with you .. this quirkening stuff is getting old. You find a build that works for you then they change it.. then change it again.. then ...

Those AC-20 quirks should have gone on the BJ-1 from day 1, its the default load for the Champion build, and just makes the most sense IMO.

Now that the Arrow is setup for its default build, they need to scrap the BJ-1 AC2 quirks and give it the AC-20.

I havent read through all 30 pages so it might already has been mentioned.
But those AS7 quirks are pretty sad tbh.

The internal structure on arms isnt that great, the STs usually are blown out before the arms come off. The DDC gained some laser duration and SRM CD but thats too little to make it viable.

The Atlas K got the lollerskates, ERLL and Gauss. What is that supposed to be? A 100 ton 1xGR carrier with a pair of low mounted ERLLs that require big facetime? Missile CD is pointless, it only has one rack. Bonus points if you run a NARC Atlas.

The RS variant does seem relatively sane, at least worth a try. Ballistic velocity could be energy heat reduction tough.

The Boars head can safely be ignored.

The S variant lacks, like all the others, real improvements in durability but the weapon related quirks at least fit its role. The ballistic velocity quirks should, on all AS7, be exchanged for cooldown. Or at least make them the same on all Atlai. Having to lead differently with the same weapon on different variants is annoying.

edit: And the DDC remains at meh level, but then, thats the best there is with Atlai.

I almost skipped the AS7-D, but thats out of habit as I handle it that way ingame. Nothing to see here, move on. Inferior to the DDC. A few percent cooldown reduction on ballistics and 2CT E hardpoints wont offset the DDCs magic jesus box and third SRM rack.

I was thinking, it would be a good idea to buff mechs in a general way, based on weight class ( and "job" on the battle field). Then crappier individual mechs get MORE (and/or specialized) buffing through those individual quirks. So for example:

Lights: heavy movement/maneuvering quirks, light heat reduction quirks
lights need movement to survive and have less room for heat sinks and tend to have laser heavy builds

Mediums: Light movement/maneuvering quirks, light cooldown quirks, light heat reduction quirks
Mediums are heavier DPSers, but still need quirks to get them in range, and poke around cover to get shots off.

heavies: light structure quirks, light cooldown quirks, light range increase quirks
Heavies are also heavier DPSers, however since they are slower they get range/structure quirks, and cooldown over heat reduction since they have more room for heat sinks

Assauts: Heavy structure quirks, light cooldown quirks
Assaults need a lot more structure buffs to be able to take a beating and keep fighting. Cooldown quirks give them the opportunity to keep a steady stream of fire going.

You clanners thought the 9s nefs would see less PPC use, 4 other IS mechs received massive PPC buffs as well. I suspect you will see more PPC's and Large lasers after the patch. oh, and forget about dodging PPC fire after the patch as well.

Tbh, if the Ghost heat change to IS LLs gets made permanent (as i suspect it will) i think the cost for firing 4 will go to 1 extra rather than 2 when they make the change not temporary. In that case i see quad LL wolverine becoming a thing (with only 1 extra heatsink)

It is all about the Blue Wub though, if you're IS. Bring Wub, bring (U)AC5s or go home (imo)

I suspect it will get touched and not in a good way.
