Its sad to see what PGi does to mechs.

this is where it makes me think that either they are completely incompetent or completely ignorant or have no clue about things.

they just make them and not at all think about the sizes at all..

its sad

NOW I SEE WHY!!!

It's the way pgi wants to solve hopper low hardpoints!!!
Increasing hopper's height, its hardpoints go higher!!!

WELL DONE PGI!!!

Really wondering what the hell went wrong here.

All they had to do was make the legs more bent when idle or similar.

Thankfully it has JJs, because it's going to need them. It's so freaking tall and wide (through wingspan), it's going to get tripped up on all kinds of map geometry.

I'm starting to think this mech is going to need significantly better quirks than it got, to even try to keep pace with any clan heavies.

nope, not even close.

Lore the tallest Mechs are pretty much the Executioner and Banshee, at about 14 meters. Atlas in MWO is about 17.

Well 14-17 meters is only a 3 meter difference. However I wouldve thought that they would try to make it as close to lore as possible.

14 is for the BNC and Executioner. The Atlas was never the tallest because it's so stocky. It should barely be over 12 meters. So now we are talking 5 meters. or near to 17 ft difference.

Both look great, the Grasshopper tall and skinny with high weapon points and the Zeus not to wide and good weapon points.
I like ....

One good thing about the grasshopper, a very trendy wide thigh gap. Ppcs and acs will miss between them more often like they do on some clan mechs with scary frequency. The Zeus being smaller than my victors and battlemasters gives me joy too even though it is densely packed into that space.

Tall isn't the issue, except when trying to get under things. It is width and depth that matter most due to how we aim in this game.

Do not forget, being tall also attracts more fire, and GHR's upper torso width certainly does not help. It's survival will depend on how well the pilot uses its JJs. Hitboxes remain the last mystery. I expected the GHR to be gangly, but this is much worse than I imagined.

By all means. Those who frequent Reddit should definitely talk with Russ about this.

scratches head!, Zeus sweet looking mech but the size of a heavy, its movement profile should be very good though, fast and should be able to run up and down hills without much trouble. Hopper is a treat, tall, lean mech with high mounted weapons, with jump jets (fix the jets!) should be a heavy mech pilots dream machine come true!

As long as it is nimble I don't mind the extreme height so much, it looks pretty cool.

I do wish the shoulders were slimmer, but the Grasshopper is actually very slim in the legs and torso. It's a pretty eccentric look, but I'm not at all convinced that it is the major disadvantage claimed here.

The Zeus is so beautiful though...

sigh... why don't they just scale their mechs with the official heights of each mech. This is bullsh*t. I mean, I haven't bought them so it doesn't really matter to me, but it still pretty much sucks.

Is proper scaling really that hard to achieve? Because there are many mechs who just don't look like the tonnage they represent. If they would take the informations from TT, well, many would still cry but PGI could make excuses.
