isXL250 in the Myth Lynx? Yes please.

10 TrueDubs has nearly the same heat dissipation as 12 DHS with the 5 PoorDubs and 7 TrueDubs.

It would make that robot so much better.

Neither the Stalker nor the FS9 had quirks, they were still some of the better robots in the game. Then they got some good quirks.

Kinda silly how they got better quirks than the bad robots.

So... your Myst Lynx is what defines whether the clan mechs are op? You just like to avoid actual argument it seems. No one claims the myst lynx is op. IM not claiming ANY clan mechs are OP. Im saying side torso loss getting a speed loss is FINE. You just dont want that, so you throw anything you can out there to try and deflect the point, because you know you havent a leg to stand on.

Clan side torso loss getting a speed loss is fine. If you cant handle it, its because youre bad, not because clan mechs arent as good as you claim IS mechs are.

Just think what could be done with the Adder or Kit Fox.... Or the Void sheilded Storm Crow....

None of those robots really have the hitboxes for isXLs, truth be told. The lights are pretty wide, and the SCR is almost optimal already (325 would save a half ton, 275 would allow for TimberGod levels of firepower, but not as many heatsinks) if it were a xCL, some might go smaller, but the 330 is close enough.

The Lynx has the potential for 4 lasers at 178 Kph with 4 JJs, which is a straight up better Commando (with larger arms), and small-ish hitboxes.

True, but I was thinking more along the lines for the Storm Crow to put those DHS, inside the engine, rather than hanging around hardwired outside like they are...

I don't feel the IS are as weak as you claim.

I don't think CSSRMs are as strong as you make them out to be.

I fight clan mechs in commandos spiders jenners atlases highlanders all in the same day because I get bored with driving same mech twice and now that quirks are ramping up for IS the gap is much closer than Wave 1 release which was insanity.

CSSRMs aren't strong...

CERL - 1.1 damage per heat
IS ERL - 1.13 damage per heat

Duration 1.25 vs 1.5

Add in range quirks IS better , add in heat generation quirk the dmg per heat goes up

The all powerfull CERML is a 1.17 dmg/heat vs a IS non ER med laser of 1.28 dmg/heat
at close range IS will win again.

But what of damage per tonnage?
;)

I do, it's called a PIRATES' BANE, hit and fade, hit and fade.

Same thing I do with my 1V... but she packs the "ERLPL"

It's a freaking Locust, open map = dead locust anyways.... just drive by SPL to the back.... when they turn to shoot you, you're already gone.

Unless we start getting many more maps like Alpine, the Clans do not have a range advantage, except in the opening bit of a CW defense on Boreal Vault. The maps currently in the game simply do not permit it.

Yup, I've also been putting the cooler runing IS lasers, and AC's to good use in brawling range of the much hotter running clan mechs... Timber's don't like it when you get in their face with an AC 20 (or two)

Edit:

But I often see IS pilots try to play the Clan game or ranged poke... often to disastrous results, then they tend to go on a tirade about how clans are OP... -sigh- Don't fight the Clans on their terms, make them fight you on yours.

LFE aren't on the table, and they aren't the answer in the first place. Trying to avoid the hit by giving the IS something they get in a few years anyway, which will suffer the SAME consequences on ST destruction btw and still have a tonnage deficit over the Clan XL is not exactly balanced, or is that being missed somehow?

10-20% speed drop is not the death sentence you guys make it out to be, FACT. Loss of a side torso means you get dead fast or you killed what was firing at you and are still able to function, it's one or the other, we all know this, so why the hyperbole?

PGI is the one putting this option out, I think it's logical and justified, and I'm willing to bet my Bloodname it is better than what they'd do if this isn't something the playerbase can live with, or if it doesn't work as PGI wants it to. Any one of you doubt that even for a second? They've already nerfed the Clans in ways that they shouldn't have, too much heat on the lasers, beam durations being too damn high, uAC bursts being too widely spaced and OmniPods being restrictive as all hell instead of being OMNIPODS.

Stop, think, this is PGI we're talking about here. This is a logical and minimally invasive change to the Clan XL, it's on par with the IS XL side torso loss without being even remotely close to being as harsh. This is NOT something PGI usually does, and this is the second time they've done something so minimal concerning the Clan XL ST destruction. Clans are obviously doing better in CW than PGI wants, not like we can't SEE that happening, and don't even try the 'l2p' argument, it doesn't hold water when the Clan vs Clan and IS vs IS stats aren't showing the same differences, we can SEE that ourselves on the CW map.

Once this is done, we can then try to get the Clan nerfs reduced, get the OmniPods fixed, and for Kerensky's sake, get the bloody quirks redone in a logical manner, no range/cd quirks, heat reduction based on specific weapons only when fluff/lore backs it up, getting MECH quirks as they should have been all along(thank you Sean, why PGI listened to him), speed, torso twist/pitch/yaw, arm pitch/yaw/speed, sensors, cooling factor, armor, interior structure, you know, MECH quirks that fit the damn Mech, not weapons quirks that make IS Mechs outrange and outgun Clan Mechs across the entire damn board.

I do NOT think the Clans are OP, I think the Clan XL needs a detrimental effect when the ST is blown off. Otherwise, the Clans need BUFFS to the majority of the OmniMechs, they are seriously underpowered. IS quirks are SERIOUSLY OP and need to be redone.

I have recently discovered what a good chance I have in killing most Timberwolves when I am in my HBK-4G, as long as I get into knife-fighting range. :) At worst, I rip half their mech off before I die.

Having played Clan mechs to the point where I got board enough with them, that made the swtich to much more fun mechs... But doing so, taught me what mechs like the Timber Wolf can, and cannot do, and how to exploit the weakeness that are in the mech, no matter how well hidden or down-played they are.

My two best "Clan killers"

YEN-LO-WANG
KGC-000(L)

Sadly, the King Crab rarely bags more than one or two Timbers or Dire Wolves in CW, once it get's seen she gets focused down pretty fast.

I see the same Clan players are still active and whining anytime a reduction in Clan effectiveness is implemented (or even hinted at for that matter).

I would have thought that after 3 months away maybe things would have improved...........apparently not.

People keep calling for blanket nerfs on the Terribad Gundams, rather than address the excessively good robots.

Not our fault people are being silly.

That's because theres still a few of us that have a sense of reason. And a lot of us don't pilot clan only mechs. Hell, I'm mostly IS at this point and even I realize the "clans are OP" hype is mostly full of BS. As in mostly full of butt-hurt players who simply refuse to see clans as anything but OP, even when glaringly HUGE evidence to the contrary is constantly rubbed in their faces.

I suggest another 3 month break, maybe things will improve for you ? Reason and sense often come with time anyway.

I like that Clab...I may have to give that build a try. I run my Clab 000 with nothing but a pair of AC/20's, and a huge standard engine (pretty sure I have a 360 crammed into it...at least a 350, as it has 4 available internal heat sink slots). Double-tap, twist, double-tap, twist the other way...quite a fun and effective mech. :) Has the heat capacity to soak synchronized fire from the twin guns most of the time, too. It plays like a larger, much more durable Boomjäger.

ComStar may have considered the Gauss Rifle a 'Clanbuster' weapon in lore, but in this game, the AC/20 is the real 'Clanbuster'.

In fact, I recall a piece of Hunchback art somewhere that had 'Clan Opener' written on the side of its gun, lol.

My KGC works in a similar manner, but I tend to use the map more to my advantage (in CW) I use it as an ambush predator, not much like to eat the left and right hooks out of it, along with a SRM 12 salvo, with a peppering of MPL. and since I tend to play more CW these days, I'm less concerned about being fast.

When I'm done with my CN9-D and Dragon 5N (read into Elite), I'm going to take that 300Xl and do this with the Wang:

YEN-LO-WANG

Get a little more speed out of it....

I'm also thinking about toying with this on the Crab too, mostly for the LULz:

KGC-000
